Custom 25th Manleh, Sabre Tooth, Red Laser and Ninja Ku

It has been a slow process trying to get the figures to coincide with the custom card backs I made, but here are the first batch. Enjoy.

They look really great. I was thinking of doing this myself, so I gotta ask - why do you hate customizing them? Is it just harder to paint because you can't take them apart?

yup, taking them apart is a pain, and so is working with the joints because of the injection molding.

Actually Sabretooth was supposed to have dark orange or brownish boots & mask. http://www.yojoe.com/archive/unproduced/tiger.shtml Although yours is good.

As for customizing the 25th figures, yes they're a huge pain. I'm always afraid of breaking the chest pieces.

Looking real good. I've been working on a set of International customs myself, having completed Quarrel so far, and halfway thru with Ninja Ku. These are definitely serving as inspiration for me to keep going.

 

The difference with mine will be the 25th touch. Instead of slavishly reproducing the International paintjob, I'll be working to integrate the colors on the card art with the actual figure, then taking down some of the less-realistic parts. For instance, Cobra Mortal, who is depicted with two red boots on the card art, actually had a black boot on his silver leg... so I'll be giving him two black boots (because red boots or mis-matched boots just make no sense).

 

Hopefully I'll have the nerve to post them when I'm done.

 

Anyways, you did a great job here. Good to finally see the customs to go along with the blister cards you've been showing off. Are you going to seal these up?

yup. I've already sealed Manleh and will be doing the same with the rest. I'll post pics when they are all done.
