Full Details And Dates For WWE's 2008 DVD Releases!

- WWE is set to put a "Sting" in the tail of its closest rivals TNA, as their 2008 list of DVD releases will feature a "best of Sting" like compilation despite the legendary wrestler being with TNA, and never actually setting foot in a WWE ring.

As wrestling fans know, WWE owns the rights to the WCW library and thus to much of Sting's career footage.

This couldn't come at a worse time, as Sting's future with TNA is still uncertain and if WWE could coax him over with a DVD release TNA would be without its icon. It would be interesting to know if Sting could legally take part in his WWE DVD, whilst still being with TNA, or if he'd even want to.

If Sting signs his new contract he'd be with TNA until the end of 2008. The DVD is listed to be released in December 2008. Ironic?

- Other confirmed 2008 DVD releases include one of Randy Savage, Steve Austin and Mr. Perfect. Here is the complete dated list:

2/12: The Legacy of Stone Cold Steve Austin

3/25: Triple H: The King of Kings

5/6: Evolution of the Hardys

6/3: The Rock

7/8: Best of Starrcade

8/5: 20-disc SummerSlam Anthology

8/5: Life and Times of Mr. Perfect

11/4: Edge

11/18: Randy Save: Macho Madness

12/9: Sting

Sounds like Savage's dvd is going to be like the Ultimate Warrior's dvd, just there to burn him. Which is unfortunate because Savage is someone I would really like to see inducted into the Hall of Fame. Hopefully they're not putting out a dvd of Sting like that. I know Vince has his differences with Savage and the Warrior, but Sting doesn't deserve anything like that. Not that Savage or Warrior really deserved that either.

Looks like I'll be sitting on my wallet until July --- Hope the Starcade is at least 3 discs.

I'll probably pick up the Sting one if it's not a hatchet job - Not a fan of DVD compilations of active wrestlers though.... they already did one Hardy DVD, 2 Mysterio 2 for Shawn Michaels, etc... from now on I'm only gonna buy the "best of's" from the retired performers.

Great looking list of must-buys for this guy. Could care less about one abt The Rock, simply because it seems like Dwayne is too busy with his movie career to even acknowledge his past. Other than that, the Triple H set will probably be good (especially with him not having a DVD since that one-disc thing like six years ago. The Hardyz set and the Edge set better be three discs as, although young, they still have more than enough to fill three discs. Mr. Perfect will be great... as will the Starrcade set.

Personally, the Randy Savage set would have to be a hatchet job just because he seems to deserve one. I think the people of TNA feel the same way WWE higher-ups feel about Savage. He is an egotistic nutjob who wants to fight Hogan... and that seems like that's all he wants to do. He's snapped into one too many Slim Jims because all the meat byproduct has made him nuts.

As for Sting... I may be alone in this... but, if he didn't work in the promotion, not even for one day, he shouldn't get a DVD about him. Simple as that. However, this could be what it takes to finally get Sting to go to WWE and establish himself in that promotion the way he has everywhere else he's worked. It's a shame to see Sting wasting the last matches of his career in a promotion filled with the logic of a mental asylum.

Leave it to one of the narrow viewed "WWE enthusiasts" around here to say that Sting, one of the greatest of all time undeniably, does not deserve a DVD set, while The Hardy's do? Especially when the Ladder match DVD set features 95% of thier memorable matches.

Im probably gonna get almost every one of these titles. Perfect, Edge, Rock, HHH, and Starcades are must haves in my opinion. Now I just need a set on Ravishing Rick and the NWO and Im all set.

Why doesn't Sting Deserve one? He does! It's for his fans, and since TNA can't release them only the WWE can since they own the footage. I wonder if Sting will do commentary on this once his contract expires. If the WWE can put out a WCCW dvd why not a DVD for a wrestler? I see no problem with it, unless Sting himself does not want it. I dont see why he would. Let it happen. And i dont see the Macho Man DVD being a Destruction like warriors. Nothing i've heard has suggested that. It's a shame the Warrior didn't do the DVD. I was a huge fan and wished something nice could have been done. The WWE really knows how to put out DVDs.

I say Sting should not have one, from WWE, because he never worked there. Unless Sting is a part of the DVD in some form or fashion, then it will be just... awkward. I would love to see a Sting DVD because he was great at one time.

Despite what so many of you think, it's not a "I Luv double-double-E and Sting sux" mindset. Sting was awesome in his prime. But, who wants to hear all about how great Sting was in a DVD without Sting having some say in the DVD? Since Sting is still alive, he should be a part of the production. But, he's in TNA sadly.

if I had to mark out on any wrestler it would have to be Sting (Surfer Sting) to be precise - he's my favourite wrestler. And I also like WWE's production team that puts out some amazing documentaries. Put those two together and I'd love to have a Sting compliation by WWE even if he never worked for the company.

While I can see BeautifulDisaster's POV, my take on the DVD is that it will be a historical reference in the same vein as ECW, WCCW, and RAW vs Nitro DVDs. Sting's career made a huge impact on wrestling's history and therefore a retrospective look on the making of another legend is very appropriate for WWE to do. Besides, TNA doesn't own footage of Sting's best years.

I'd like to see Sting come to WWE for a short program with Flair (if they can sustain the current angle for a year) and to be a part of the DVD release.

And yet there is a Four Horsemen DVD even though they never set foot in the WWF/E. Individually does not count in my book.

Well, it does count in my book. So there.

Also... to negate something everyone has said with regards to the AWA, World Class, ECW, Horseman, and other "historic" DVDs... Those DVD featured comments from the key people involved in the stories. The Gagnes, Kevin Von Erich and some of World Class's remaining survivors, a lot of ECW's major people, the Horsemen were all a part of the DVD. Sting, unless he goes frm TNA to WWE, will not be a part of this. Since he is not dead, he should be a part of a DVD retrospect of his career.

Like I said, its really up to Sting on how he feels about it. If Steve Bordon? I think his name is, is cool with the idea then we should too. If he hates the idea then maybe the WWE should hold off on it. But I dont see how he be against the idea if its a tribute to him. The reason he may not be able to contribute is because of his TNA relationship. If Sting was apart of this dvd it be perfect! Since we dont know how he feels, i'm still all for it. Its for the fans too! I trust WWE's production team over TNA's any day of the week.

Honestly, if the matches are there, who gives a damn about anything else? Yea a documentary like Bret Harts or the new Shawn Michaels dvd is great and all, but it can be a set like Tombstone: the history of the Undertaker. Three discs packed with matches, never with a word from Taker.

I have heard there were tons of things wrong with the WrestleMania set (wrong enterance music, blurry WWF logos, the removal of commentary from certain people). At the same time, I've heard that these things were just rumors and that commentary was still there and the blured WWF logos are not as big a distraction as they were made out to be.

What's the deal with the WrestleMania set? Is it worth having or not? And, who's music is different from what it should be?

I love the wrestlemania set. There are a few where the blurs are borderline rediculous (WM 16-18) The music I remember being changed was the NWOs, Undertakers Limp Bizkit song, as well as his Kid Rock one (which is a good thing in my opinion.) The lack of NWO music does confuse me though... oh well, its a great set anyways.

I had heard there were missing themes like Demolition, Slick (would be with the Twin Towers), Big Bossman, and a lot of those themes were missing or changed from their original themes in the late 80s/early 90s.

I have seen a lot of the Royal Rumble set from a friend and really think I'll like it. But, I'm still "if-fy" on the WrestleMania set. It seems like people either love it or hate it, lol.

I will probably only get a few from that list : Starrcade , Mr. Perfect , & maybe Complete Hell & Macho Man ?

As far as Sting goes , I remember watching his first Clash of the Champions match with Flair thinking "well there goes Stings big push" since he had to resort to the same 4 moves (clothesline , press slam , dropkick , & punch in corner )throughout the whole thing . Imagine my surprise when that didnt happen & he started getting pushed to the moon .

IMO , Sting is one of the most overrated wrestlers of all-time . Just wait until you get the DVD set & get to re-live some of his classic moments like the patented "deer in headlights" look he gets midway through a move he is trying to sloppily execute . I sure hope they include the classic "Ric Flair night" party crasher moment from the NWA , when its supposed to be Stings big time moment & he totally blows it , by uttering something like : "So , pretty little ladies....................Uh , I'm at a loss for words right now................"

Yeah , he screamed real good , & looked pretty cool , but he really was a pathetic worker ...... that is Until American standards for what passes as pro wrestling got lowered ............mainly due to the WWF "attitude era"/Vince Russo .

I could care less either way about the Sting DVD , but w/ WWE owning the rights to the WCW stuff , they might as well try to make some $$$$ off of it .

O.K. my little rant is done now

dem's fighting words nutlog!!!!

Sting has what a ton of today's wrestlers DONT have, and that's charisma. And if you're going 60-mins with Flair then that puts you in the same league with Steamboat, Race, and Von Erich which is pretty damn good company.

All wrestlers have their basic moves they resort to as the match draws on. In that same 60-min clash of champions you see Flair chop chop chop chop chop belly flop beg beg chop chop chop beg beg chop chop chop figure four.

If you want to talk about overrated wrestlers, lets talk about Hulk Hogan and his disgusting kick/punch arsenal as well as the inevitable "Hulking up" garbage.

HBK does the same thing in the ring night after night no matter who his opponent is - fake sweet chin music 5-6 times.

The only "true" wrestlers that can put on move after move after move and chain wrestle are guys like Dean Malenko and Bret Hart

Let's face it, we love Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Sting, HBK and those guys for how over they get with the crowd and it's because of their charisma.
