Rachel Nichols (from Alias and The Amityville Horror) is up for the role of Scarlett in the G.I.Joe movie by Stephen Sommers. Also joining to Sienna Miller and Ray Park, Korean star Byeong-Heon Lee has been casted as Storm Shadow aka Tommy S. Arashikage, Snake-Eye's brother and rival.

So well, while is not exactly what I had in mind, I like this casting. I Think.

I haven't seen it confirmed here yet, but seems to be good choices.

I thought Scarlet would be older like in her late 20's early 30's

Doesn't make sense to cast older... Hollywood caters to the young, they favor younger actors, and they're most likely planning a trilogy, like all action movies these days. So if you're shooting today, you have to be mindful of 5 years worth of sequels. Doesn't make any sense to cast a 30+ year old actress, then watch her age dramatically over the course of the films (Famke Jansen did this over the three X-Films).

She's hot, she can act (She practically carries P2 all by herself) and she looks good in red (hair that is). That's good enough for me!

Please refrain from posting movie news as fact untill an official source actually confirms said rumors . An offical source would be GIJoe.com or GIJoeclub.com in the case of the GIJoe movie

For the case of this board ENI which is in touch with both Paramount and Hasbro to confirm or deny said rumors is an exeptable link. There are a million sites all posting all kinds of rumors and such. Some turn out to be true many do not, so we ask for the sake of keeping whats fact frim fiction that you abide by this rule on these boards.

Thanks,

Jay

Lee, I assume, has an accent since he was born in South Korea and stars in Japanese films. Therefore, he won't be true to the character, who is Asian-American and accent-less. But unfaithful to the source material seems to be the status quo for this film, so what's a little accent here and there?

As for Nichols playing Scarlett, I don't see it. It's not just about dying someone's hair red. It's not just about boobs and a pretty face (though I don't find Nichols that pretty to be honest). It's about finding someone who is Scarlett. It could work, but I don't see it yet.

Of course, I'm not buying Ray "I played a character fittingly-named Toad" Park as the baddest badass in the Joe universe, either.

?

That doesn't make a lick of sense? Isn't half the fun discussing the rumors and, regardless of whether they turn out to be true, talk about the person fits? If I wanted fact why would I bother looking here? This isn't a news site, these are Discussion Boards, hence the discussion.

If you want everyone to wait while AintItCool, Mania, etc. publish this then you are, in fact, telling us to go elsewhere to post our discussions. If that is true I will abide but it still makes absolutely no sense in why you would have a discussion board.

How about you tweak the rules to say that until it is officially posted you will be changing any stated fact, in the thread title, to add "RUMOR:" before it. That way everyone can discuss the rumor in the discussion board?

But alas, your football, not mine, you want to go home and take the ball with you I guess the game is over.

I don't think Jay is saying there's any problem discussing rumors or dream casting or whatever. The problem is presenting a rumor as if it were a fact. That's misleading. Especially bad for a news source such as ENI. If we want to talk about rumors, we should just make sure it's labelled rumors.

Yep, Ransomz hit it on the nail. Discussing it as rumors and speculating are fine. When we start treating rumors as fact without any offical confirmation, then there begins to be a problem. Discussing rumors can be fun but I think being able to recieve your news from a source that has taken some extra time to actual confirm as factual is something you would respect, and also demand from your news sources.

In this day and age of the internet where everyone is more concerned being first as apposed to being right sometimes that part gets lost in journalism.

We have 2 more rumors on casting for the movie. One is for the team's ordanance expert and one for the team's communications specialist. Unfortunately, the ordanance expert isn't Roadblock, it's Heavy Duty. But the communications specialist is a REAL SURPRISE!!! It's not Hi-Tech, nope, not Dial-Tone or Mainframe either! It's BREAKER!!!

Heavy Duty will be played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje(from the TV show LOST)

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0015382/

Breaker will be played by Said Taghmaoui.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0846548/

I'm betting these 2 will be changed to the International team members instead of being American like they are(one's from Illinois and the other from Tennessee).

Here's the link to the original news break:

"Heavy Duty rumored to go to a somewhat surprising choice. According to BlackFilm.com, Marlon Wayans has been offered the part of the heavy ordinance specialist and wanna-be chef. It's up to Wayans, of course, to accept".

Are they mixing hevey duty and roadblock?!?!?

if so that is going to suck

Yeah, I agree. Not to mention the horrible casting of Marlon Wayans.

An average sized guy like him trying to pull off Roadblock just sucks.

Heavy Duty sucks in general. We need a big, bald, black guy for Roadblock.

Anything less is gonna be a big let down.
