Interesting to see that the poll is split about even. Too bad it doesn't have anything to do with the real question at hand which is, did you think the articulation was good enough to begin with?

I, for one, am glad for the change. Though the Stalker mold was not one of most poorly articulated to begin with, I would rather have better articulation than a more appealing sculpt. Yes, the old way looks better but I'd rather have a toy that's more fun to play with since, you know, toys are fundamentally meant to be played with, thus the articulation in the first place.

Another thing. The old crotch was tops on a lot of people's complaint list when these figures debuted, and I'm glad to see that Hasbro responded to those complaints. Seems everyone in the community used to be upset by the seemingly deaf ears we were met with thoughout the entire VvV line (crappy proportions, terrible designs/ color choices and so on), but now that Hasbro is actually listening to us and changes are underway (and not just future changes but changes meant to fix figures that have already been released), part of the Joe community is upset?

Can someone please explain? Why would anyone want a Joe figure that looks ABSOLUTELY ##$%$#ED in the seated position? Or one that doesn't have any hope of fitting in old vehicles, those being the same ones that are being rereleased in '08? How is more articulation on a Joe figure a bad thing again? I don't seem to remember any complaints about past figures being too articulated or not having a more developed diaper crotch.

As for those that are threatening to limit their 25th purchases because of this change, I say, why stop there? Don't just limit your purchases. Just stop collecting these altogether. Show Hasbro you're not going to take this laying down. Stand up and make it known that you're not going to let Hasbro make Joe more articulated. Damn it, this is America, where people have a right to figures that look like (and are in many ways better than) their eighties counterparts except for the fact that they can't kick, drive, kneel or sit.

Ha!

I showed this to my GF. She asked why I couldn't be into an adult hobby... like porn.

That made me laugh.

My wife said the same thing when the first posts of "problem crotches" started appearing just after the con. Like I said before, it brings new meaning to "package inspection" when you buy your Joes. @lol@

zOMG!!!11one DeTH uV tEH LiNE v5.9823

Big deal. Sure, I think the re-worked...crotch...throws off the flow of the figure, but am I losing sleep over it? No. Partly because I still can't find any figure worth a damn in any store in the Metro-Detroit area, but also because I'm not 1) eight years old or 2) an adult who behaves like an eight year old.

Once Hasbro starts putting out new vehicles, then maybe I'll care about my Joes not being able to sit. But for now? My Joes and Cobras don't have time for sitting, they've got some serious tail-kicking to do!

Some fanboys are big whiners. Every time I think I have heard it all, somebody comes up with something new. The articulation gets improved, and people have an issue with it?!?! WTF? We are lucky we even have this line to begin with. No wonder Hasbro getrs confused. people are always giving them mixed signals. "We want this" "No, you did it wrong, stupid Hasblow!!!" cripes, you'd think it was the end of the world or something.

I think part of the problem is that they oversteered on the fix. The ARAH and Spytroops figs didn't show that much of the top of the thigh, and it looks like a bad custom - they grabbed a pile of the old ones and dremmelled the heck out of them.

I think once they start actually designing the figs to have more crotch articulation they'll look better than the retroactively fixed ones.

Anyone agree?

I'm a fan of possibility so I think this new style rocks. It was kinda funny when someone pointed out that the Cobra Driver couldn't fit in the H.I.S.S. tank being released in 2008. It does take a little realism away but it add functionality that wasn't there before. Plus the bottom line is Hasbro is going to want to sell vehicles and the figures to interact with them. If that means a crotch re-work, so be it.

Thank you for bringing a much needed sense of humor to the sturm and drang of this whole 'thing'. Honestly, crotch issues seems like such a silly thing to get into an uproar about. Were I putting my figures into vehicles I might empathize more than I do currently.

But isn't realism the key? Why should it be functional? because a few collectors would rather play

or pose their figures. Now personally I would prefer their newer crotch as oppose to the old one, but

rather than cater to only a few collectors with gripes why not use a mixture of both to applease

everyone. I hope Hasbro has plans on releasing alot of vehicles to justify this change, not all

collectors wanted this change or want houseloads of Joe vehicles when the figures would do just fine.

I really thought this was a joke! debating crotches? maybe because i dont collect the 25th stuff i can sit back a watch and not really give a sh!t or care about it and find it funny. good time to be a vintage only collector! huh :)

This is getting sad.......

Fanboy: "Waaaaaahhhhhh! Hasbro, my 25th figures can't sit the way I want them to. You fix that crotch right now or I'll be grumpy!"

Hasbro: "Well.....if we don't, will you still buy every figure off the shelf?"

Fanboy: "Well, yes.......but then I'll hop on line and grump about the figures I just paid you for!"

Hasbro: "OK, we'll fix the crotch."

Fanboy: "Waaaaaaaaahhhh! Hasbro, you fixed it too much. Me no like the way it look! Waaaaaah!"

sad........

This whole thing is surreal to me. It's like Joe fans decided over night that they just want McFarlane like statues over articulation because it "looks better". Give me articulation.

I don't see how. The crotch didn't really hinder that much articulation to warrant a change. Not

every line needs that much articulation especially if it can compromise the sculpt to a certain extent.

Hahaha . . . not every line needs that much articulation? Except, you know, the line that STARTED the whole articulation evolution? I still don't see how this "compromises" the sculpt. The original RAH were similar in their construction as far as the crotch goes, except the crotch area was even thinner. I'm not too sure anyone ever complained about that. Again, if any action figure line needs as much articulation as possible, it's GI Joe. Not just because of its history, but also because these are touted to be the most articulated Joes ever.

I have no patience for anyone thinking otherwise. It seems to me that if people think this, than they are either new to GI Joe or would rather collect statues.

This isn't a dig at you, it's just the frustration I and many others feel who have been collecting GI Joe since we were little tikes feel when all of a sudden people start saying that articulation really doesn't matter as much as the way the figures look. The articulation is the essence of what GI Joe has always been, in both its 12" and 3 3/4" incarnations. It's like telling a Ferrari owner that the engine isn't as important as the look of the car body. Yes, to some the look of the car is important, but those aren't the kind of people who really appreciate everything a Ferrari is, or truly appreciate any car for that matter.

Another thought. All the pictures that have been popping up . . . the focus is on the crotch, no matter what the picture depicts. So, you're always going to focus on it, and it's going to look off to you. If these had been the style from the beginning, this wouldn't be an issue. It's only an issue because you're focused on it, reading the debates and seeing it in the pictures. It's just like if someone says . . "Doesn't the word "______" sound weird, especially if you keep saying it?" Then you say it a bunch of times and it does start to sound weird.

I'd say a thinner crotch "compromises" these sculpts in that it clashes with the rest of the figure which clearly has gone with looks (albeit the conflict between looks vs articulation isn't as problematic elsewhere). The thin crotches didn't compromise the looks of the vintage molds because those figures already looked like dead bloated corpses to begin with. :D On these figures, thin crotches stand out like a sore thumb.

Again, if any action figure line needs as much articulation as possible, it's GI Joe. Not just because of its history, but also because these are touted to be the most articulated Joes ever.

Well, there is that. Though personally, I've never really thought marketing claims should be taken literally. Although you have a point there. Perhaps they should've been touted as the most accurate looking figures so far that are still figures.

I have no patience for anyone thinking otherwise. It seems to me that if people think this, than they are either new to GI Joe or would rather collect statues.

Gee.. how rational. Nope. The inability to fully sit bugs me a little, or at least it did, but not sufficiently enough to think they should start being reverted directly back into the old figures.

The articulation is the essence of what GI Joe has always been, in both its 12" and 3 3/4" incarnations.

Be that as it may, I actually never bought many of the vintage 3.75"s despite being a fan of the show. This was expressly because I felt the figures and the animated counterparts didn't look close enough to each other (and I much preferred the general aesthetics reflected in the show and in the 25ths) to make me wanna spend money on them.

And while I can appreciate articulation having been a major selling point for the brand, especially from early '60s line, what really sold me on ARAH was the characters, continuity, and mythos. So for me, those are the real essence of ARAH. I certainly want the toys to be articulated. But it doesn't really matter to me if they are vastly more articulated than other similar competing figures, much less if they are "the most" articulated.

And btw, thanks for bringing the debate here.. <_<@haha@

If they wanted to take that approach don't you think they would have? Apparently they wanted

to take a different approach and it worked because we are still buying them regardless..Hahaha.

This isn't the old line and this isn't the 80s, its a new line and should be viewed as such. No one

complained at that particular time, but now especially with adult collectors the standards is alot

higher.

I have no patience for anyone thinking otherwise. It seems to me that if people think this, than they are either new to GI Joe or would rather collect statues.

These figures are far from statues, but I just don't see the point in altering them now just because

a few might want articulation. If they are going to take this approach then it must mean vehicles

are coming, and hopefully not rehashes either.

I guess you are missing the point. These are toys, plain and simple, so I wouldn't really want to compare these to a 6 figure car. Second this is a newer Joe line, so its clear that they wanted to

focus more on the sculpting aspect over the articulation. Is it paramount that they are able to sit? not

really.

Its an issue because now they are changing things to applease a few fans, just let it be or atleast mix them up . Personally I prefer them how they are, the change is a distraction. Even with this change fanboys will still complain about it as we have already been seeing based off other threads.

Well It's not like we are talking about swivel knees here. I just want my Joes to be able to sit down without having to spread their legs. This is something even the Star Wars figures from 1978 could do. I know a lot of collectors just want something that looks good to put on their shelf but even though I don't get around to playing with my figures I still recognize them as toys. To me a good action figure is one that could be played with by a kid even if I as a collector do not indent on having kids play with them.
