Review: Hydra Soldier

Good review and yeah I agree the figure really isn't anything even remotely great. Hasbro's figures aren't horrible, but it seems unlikely they'll ever make a figure that just makes you say WOW (in a good way). *sigh*

The Hydra figure is meh.

Don't get me wrong, my collection is better with it than without it, But it's not a great figure by any means. And for me it comes down to the same thing thats killin GI Joe for me right now...

THEY NEED DOUBLE JOINTED ELBOWS!!!!!!!

The total disregard for this key joint has ruined the Hydra soldier, and completely killed the 25th ann. Joes for me. AND to make matters worse, because of the sculpts you can't even reach a 90* angle with the arms. Hydra is more like a 60* bend.

These figures that carry guns require a double elbow for proper display and mobility. If Hydra were to have had this I could look past the lack of paint wash, toe Articulation, and a lateral ankle.

Please Hasbro, just do what is right for the figures integrity above all else. There's just no point in making a half-assed toy.

Rob hit the nail on the head. This figure blows chunks due to the lack of those elbows. To give you and idea, you can't give him his rifle and lay it across both arms pointing at someone. This is ludicrious! You have to make slits in the sleeve area to allow him the degree of movement to make it happen. Also, his fingers are like the size of friggin Cucumbers! I have over 85 guns in my Punisher arsenal and thought "hey lemme check out some other sweet guns on these guys since they are so high tech". Wrong answer, since his stubby fingers cant reach thru any gun trigger guards. You will need to slice away at his fingers in order to hold other weapons. Man is this figure frustrating.

Thanks a lot Tom for the review. Loved the pic sof Hydra versus Iron Fist. Now going into my anticipation for HML -3 (for at 4 of the figures at least), I knew not to expect whooping amounts of articulation as this was never designed to be sold individually. This was supposed to be a tie-in/ or packaged in figure for Toy Biz's ML-13, before it became the Bad Guys "Onslaught Series".

While most complain about the elbow joints for posing, Hasbro kills me on the knees joints (the look is TERRIBLE) and the hip joints (now I don't own the Hydra Soldier yet, but if he has what I call the "Taskmaster Hip" instead of the Spider-Man style, then you have to keep moving the ball joint around for natural movement which is a problem with most Hasbro Legends). I wil still own at least 4 of these figures once I find them because a good army of villians of always useful, and Hasbro knows that.

So while I can't blame all of the figures problems on Hasbro, they need to learn from their misakes and do better on the next Army Builder set (hopefully the Hand).

This figure has the worst articulation EVER. Why was he even given the knee and elbow artic? It does nothing to help pose the figure, you have to use the sholder and hip for the figure do do anything. I realy cant believe people still defend Hasbro after a figure like this!

Every figure with Hasbro artic has terrible possibility. You cant do anything with them

Is it possible that this figure has less/worse articulation because it was part of the group of army-builder characters that were going to be released from toy biz with less articulation? Do we have pics of that original Hydra Soldier?

Oooohh... I don't like that the colors don't match between the hydra soldier and Baron Strucker. Not cute.

And i don`t like the height either: the soldiers have a bigger head and they`re taller than Strucker.

Well, yeah. Strucker's the mastermind, and these guys are just goons. Of course they're bigger than him. It's the only reason he keeps them around.

I agree, they're supposed to be the hired muscle. It wouldn't work if they were short like the current FF Marvel Legends, hehe! Goons should look imposing, but these guys can't even move so that's what i'm more irritated about.

Good points about these having useless articulation and flat, cartoonish paint and hydrocephalic heads and hamhands. However, the main cheapskate limitation of this figure that bugs me most is that they didn't even make the holsters real so the Hydra could, oh I don't know, PUT THEIR damn GUNS in there!!!!! What a croc!

I still bought six of them.
