My new JLU additions

Recommended Posts

Just a couple of repaints, with some sculpting on the Kendra. I'm trying to complete the current JLA roster in JLU form.

Looks good.

What kind of paint did you use?

I have a bunch of the citadel paint you think that'll look good on JLU repaints?

Thanks.

What a great way to use all those duplicate extra figures that Mattel forces us to buy to get the one we need! Those are very nice, now I'm sorry I got rid of my extra Hawkgirl, but I do have multiple Jon Stewarts still. Too bad we can't just buy those characters or something crazy like that.

Thanks all. NiteWing73, what you see here is citadel paint on these figs. I find that the first coat is rather stringy applying to the gloss finish of these figs, but subsequent coats apply even and solid.

Here's my complete roster of the Meltzer JLA. From left, Vixen, Red Arrow (Green Arrow with sculpted hair, shaved goatee), Hawkgirl (Kendra - sculpted wraps, boots; mask and hair cut away), Hal Jordan (Kyle Raynor with sculpted hair), Wonder Woman, Superman, red Tornado (with Avatar accessories for tornado and air cannons), Black Canary, Batman, Black Lightning (new John Stewart GL with the big hand), Geo-Force (Supes with sculpted bands, reshaped cape area), Flash.

Looks good...very nice. Speaking of JLU I missed the Blue Devil yesterday at TRU. I was standing in line for about an hour before the store opened to get my daughter the Wii that she now wants for Christmas. (Of course she didn't want it a month ago when Target had them in stock) Anyway they had 50 and I was ticket #23 so when I finally got through the line with my daughter's Wii (and hour after the store opened) I hit the figure aisle. And they had a full peg of the Blue Devil wave with just one figure missing...The Blue Devil of course. Oh well some day I'll find him.

Well, it just goes to show how long it's been since I read the Silver Age GL / JLA books. When I made the custom, I referenced this card back from the exclusive Hal figure Mattel put out. Now, my own particular color-blindness is some variant of blue-green: when enlisting in the USAF, I took the 'lantern' color-blindness test, and though I could pick out the red every time, I often mixed up the whites and greens! This must be what happened here (though I swear that card back still looks like white boots to me.)

On the carback, I can see how someone might see white, but i definitely see green. :)
