Tech Deck does it again -

So I'm moseying through Target and glance at the Tech Deck dudes as I often do and once again am floored at what I see. Tech Deck Dude Evolution. Mort #049

Mort.jpg

Clearly a Megatron and Ratbat rip-off...um err...homage.

Even down to their bios:

"Mort"s favorite saying is "Such Heroic Nonsense" and "Blazer"s is "Michael Bay Called"

Keep your eyes peeled kids - this one is a must have!

what hes saying is it lacks purple :P Hm neat indeed never could find the batman one... picking up one lone megatron seems pointless though unless they do a optimus to go with it

I liked the Schwartzenegger one they did, myself. Wish I still had it too. Tech Deck is rather big on ripoff stuff like this. Saw one based on Carrot Top, one clearly based on Pinhead/Cenobite(Hellraiser). Bought a pack of stickers once as one of the stickers had Felicia from Darkstalkers. Pity the Tech Deck dudes are so painfully overpriced and a boring novelty once you open them.

Yes they did Prime - they've done quite a few tips-o-the-hat over the years. Batman, Kato, Prime, RoboCop, Terminator, just to name a few...

Here are the others I have:

Yeah I could care less about skater toys, but ever since the Batman one came out I keep my eyes on these things for hope that they do something cool - Prime and Megs are pretty cool to have for sure!

The Batman one must have caused them the greatest heat - there is no reference to him at all on their website and they gave the name "Adam" to a completely separate figure (a Zombie); yet most others (Terminator, Pinhead, Robocop) have been repainted and re-released multiple times.

I am not familiar with these toys. Is it just "figure on a skateboard?" How much do the figures tend to cost?

I actually sort of like the Megatron influence there but don't get a Ratbat vibe. Maybe with a repaint. I'd probably just be content to stick with Robot Heroes (though there is no Ratbat there... yet!!).

Yeah they're little figs with magnetic feet/skateboards. They sometimes have bendy arms and an accessory or two. I think they're in the 3-4 dollar range depending on where you get them.

They're cool, especially considering the blatant rip-off aspect. Sometimes, skateboarding IS a crime lol!
