Good points Capn', but I still don't want to be the one that has to leave politics (and the REAL world) at the door, so I can be entertained by Hollywood. I want Hollywood to leave politcs at the door, in order to entertain ME...the buying customer.

I suppose thats were we differ, VH, which is a good thing - every argument needs two sides. I find myself to be an overwhelmingly apathetic person on many issues, I rarely stress about things I cannot with a shadow of a doubt control. I read comics, watch cartoons, and go see movies based on said properties to watch an idealized world were good and evil are easily defined and recognized. In my own regards I live all that depressing real world stuff at the door to watch over the top Good guys lay a giant sized smack down - be they based in the Pit in a Mid-Western Desert or world hoping in.. Brussels (which I scratch my head over.. at least pick somewhere else a bit more high profile, unless that IS the point.

NATO is headquartered in Brussels, which is most likely why they chose it.

EDIT: Speaking of NATO, that's been around a LONG time... Are we sure this is "Hollyweird" telling us how conflicts should be handled? I mean, even Bush Jr. is telling everyone that the "war on terror" needs to be an international effort... Sounds like art imitating life to me.

I know I'm, for the most part, alone in my opinion, but I don't think it makes me any less of a proud American or a Joe fan. #US1#

I wouldn't even try to hint at the idea that it does, so hopefully you're not thinking that I am? You're not alone in your opinion either, as others have made it clear that don't really care about these kinds of changes being done to the G.I.Joe ARAH property.

I'm a politcally passionate individual, and I just happen to think that Hollywood (and the entertainment industry as a whole...media included) have a powerful influence over the mindset of not only Americans, but the world as a whole, as they're ALL watching now. Some of our freedoms in our society and our behavior as a whole, and how it's presented in entertainment form or even in the news, affects how the rest of the world perceives us, and unfortunately...some folks do not think well of our people and our "sinful" ways.

A few hours of Maury, Springer and every "reality" based tv program, and I'm almost ready to blow us off the face of the Earth for being a disgusting civilation. This sh@# just slowly corrodes away anything decent left in us for bragging rights.

G.I.Joe is probably one of the last few things we "proud American" types might have to think of as our old-fashioned, innocent, sacred and uncorrupted by American politics, way of still thinking about the American military as being "good, just, and maybe a little heroic, but Hollywood is going to go ahead and trash or hide all THAT just for hopes of bigger profits in making a movie about it, that the worldwide audience can enjoy, rather than taking a CHANCE with it, and doing it up correct, the RIGHT way, so as to give a much needed boost to our sagging morale around home here. <_<

I DO care about this kind of stuff, but hopefully that doesn't suggest I'm some sort of right-winged, patriotic zealot or spoil sport? ;)

wait... anyone notice that it says cobra is headed by a scottish arms dealer....i guess the joes aren't the only ones getting screwed over. so no cobra commander either? i'm thinking i'm going to be refusing to go see this movie... watch shia leboeff(or w/e) sign up to be in this movie too just to try and ruin EVERY thing that i ever enjoyed about watching movies...

That's the part that bugs me. I don't care that GI Joe is an acronym or even that the team is international - but there's no Cobra Commander? Destro is running the place? That's just not right. Unless they're going to combine the two characters, which is even worse.

They might end up making a good movie, but it won't be GI Joe.

I don't buy it, I think Cobra Commander will be "behind the scenes" and show up as a surprise in the end. They're probably already setting up for a sequel...

GI Joe IS A Real AMERICAN Hero! It shouldn't be any different. Granted that some of its forces are from other countries and are more diverse, but it should be based in America. Afterall, its GOVERMENT ISSUE Joe, not this anagram. Also Cobra should be led by Cobra Commander with Destro as his arms dealer. NUFF SAID.
