It is already late July, when are Marvel Legends series 3 coming out?

 

Are there any sightings or news about it?

 

By the way, which one are the variants?

Probably in the Fall. This will coincide with HASBRO's annnouncement that they are "revamping" the entire line.

 

If the non-showing of LEGENDS at SDCC is any indication of where HASBRO is at with this line, then it's not a priority for them...

Hmm it says retailers in Oct, hopefully Online stores will be Sept as they have advertised. I already pre-ordered the whole wave from BBTS and they said Sept.

Well, can you really blame the collectors for being upset? I mean atleast toybiz had the entire set with variants available the day they were released. Hasbro is still getting its footing with Marvel Legends, but it is starting to tick me off as well.

Also So No Tornato, didn't you say they had to hold it back to improve on the product? Why is it your surpirsed?

 

Also this romor that they wont be showing nothing but the movie line is not true. From marketing perseptive Hasbro won't be doing more movie lines, and the Update that we just had never said they were movie lines. It more the likely meant the marvel in general lines.

Lol, you guys must not look very hard for variants. I bought the Yellowjacket variant at a place in Torrance, California called Collector's Warehouse for only $12.99. At the time I passed up on the green quicksilver and the dark phoenix. Everyone sounded so negative towards the variants, I would have picked up extras to trade if I would have known everyone was just a hypocrite, full a beans and bourbon.

there are so many that I could send MOC a yellow jacket variant and jean grey variant for one blue quicksilver loose.

 

I just hope that series 3 distribution would be better.

October you say, maybe here in Canada we'll get them in December...2008:( Only one report of sighting for serie 2 and even specialty shops don't have them. My chain dosen't have any orders placed. And serie One is warming the pegs.

Most of the stores in my area of metro detroit have not gotten any wave 2 figures. there are a few stores that have had regular stock but I imagine wave 3 will be worse because wave 2 will probably only hit full distrobution in october which will put wave 3 off by quite a bit.

Classifying my reaction as "knee-jerk" displays a complete lack of understanding of the situation since HASBRO took over.

 

It must be nice being blissfully unaware that many, many collectors on this very board have expressed serious disenchantment since HASBRO started working on LEGENDS.

 

I'm the first to admit that the negative reactions that were expressed prior to HML 1 were premature, and I even argued that HASBRO should be given the chance to prove their detractors wrong.

 

Well, they've had their chance. Two (2) waves into their acquisition of the license, and here's what we have:

 

1. Wave 1: A horrendous Emma Frost (worse than any female ever done by TOY-BIZ), and terrible detailing and paint apps. The Iron-Man was waaaay too small, with a severely undersized head. And the detailing and paint-apps were sorely lacking.

 

2. Wave 2: Detailing and paint apps still horrendous, as is the articulation. In addition, unwanted X-3 characters are forced into the wave, which would be accceptable if they were well done. They weren't.

 

3. Distribution: Supposedly HASBRO's strength. What a friggin' joke...I'm lucky, but many have not been as fortunate.

 

4. Variants...these aren't real variants...just repaints. Which would be OK, if anyone could actually find the damn things...but they're MIA...

 

5. Wave 3: Late. It was originally slotted for July. Now it's October. Do you think that's a good thing??

 

6. "Exclusives!" are repainted crap. The all-silver Wolverine has to be the stupidest idea I've seen in LEGENDS in a long time.

 

7. Movie Figs: In 5"-inch scale. Totally stupid. Total crap.

 

8. HULK Waves: Yeah, we're seeing some nice character concepts, but I'm turned-off by the cartoony sculpts.

 

HASBRO has dropped the ball, and dropped it severely. LEGENDS NEVER sat on the pegs like this when TOY-BIZ was designing the figs. Sure, a few dull characters would, but overall, you rarely found entire WAVES just sitting on the shelves like Stinky Pete begging to be bought.

 

And now we have the "non-event" at SDCC, where the most exciting news seems to be Stan Lee signing his LEGENDS figure (which is nothing more than Stan's head on a repainted Spidey fig...brilliant...)

 

Even if they unveil more at SDCC, they've still got a long way to go to rectifty the mess they've made in 2007.

You may be onto something. Could be that HASBRO doesn't want anyone to do a side-by-side comparison with comic figures done the way they SHOULD be done by MARVEL TOYS.

I'm sorry, I usually try and avoid the tired old Hasbro vs. ToyBiz argument, but when I read your post I nearly fell out of my chair.

 

Dude, Have you ever actually bought any ToyBiz Marvel Legends? There were entire series that never made it into wide release! I had to get Blade off Ebay, and THAT took almost a year! If I hadn't bought series 6 online, I never would have gotten a Phoenix or Juggernaught. I've never even SEEN an Apocalypse figure much less varients.

 

Yeah, I bought hundreds of them. And YES, some of them were harder to find than others, especially ML 6 and ML 7, many of which I had to pay higher prices to get them from Comic Shops or EBAY.

 

I often had complaints about TOY-BIZ, and they're documented on this board.

 

But despite these complaints, I still think HASBRO has failed to deliver on the deal, and will NEVER be able to deliver the way TOY-BIZ did.

 

Why?

 

Simple. TOY-BIZ, for all their faults, understood and respected the "MARVEL COLLECTOR". They understood what we wanted, and did their best to deliver. If they occasionally stumbled, it was forgivable. But when that license was pulled in 2006, they were on a ROLL!!!

 

2006 was AWESOME! The best year for LEGENDS ever! Each month was a mad, fun scramble to find the latest releases! And in the midst of all this fun comes the horrendous news that the license was being pulled, and given to HASBRO.

 

Now, I'm not anti-corporate or anti-profit, which I think is a stupid phrase to begin with. But the difference we see here is the difference between a large, corporate entity like HASBRO (that probably does endless focus-groups and market research), and a smaller, boutique-shop like TOY-BIZ that already knows and respects their audience...think "Jesse Falcon".

 

Sorry if you had trouble finding figs, I know that stinks.

 

BTW...how do you like the distribution on HML 2???

 

IMO, HASBRO will not be happy when MARVEL TOYS (TOY-BIZ) finally hit the shelves in the Fall with "Legendary Comic Heroes". I'm all over that, and I really don't care about most of these characters - I simply want to support MARVEL TOYS, and help them to expand their license to other great comic properties.

Toybiz was notorious for lousy and limited distribution. Large stores would get a couple of cases, smaller stores sometimes one....if that, right?

2006 had the last two waves with limited release--the orders were CUT to just US domestic orders.

 

Now there's a manufacturer in place with a system that works and lo and behold, there's an adundance of product available. More stores are getting more cases of the product.

The Toy-biz stuff was selling before because there was so little of it to buy in the first place ( demand follows scarcity)........obviously that is going to skew your observations now that Hasbro has the means to actually put product everywhere.

The answer to your mystery is pretty clear: there's "less" people apparently buying ML toys because there never really were that many. We have a glut situation and the audience for all the product clearly doesn't exist in the numbers anticipated.

 

 

There were indeed entire ML waves sitting on the pegs in stores: ML10,11,12 were well reported as being quite common.

 

How's that for understanding the situation, eh?

actually, the big gap was between ML5 and ML6.

 

ML6 was followed by ML7 very quickly, almost too quickly seeing how many people didn't find any ML6

Again, what the "H" are you talking about?!?! There is NO "abundance of product...TRU has never even had HML 2, the first shipments hit sporadically in March, then sporadically agin in June...lots of people still don't have any. Seriously...you do read this board, right??

WRONG AGAIN. There's less people buying LEGENDS because demand is lower for the product since HASBRO took over...despite any problems TOY-BIZ may have had, the figures are NOT as good.

 

And AGAIN, a poll conducted on this very board indicated an almost 30% drop-off in potential customers of LEGENDS based on the initial switch and the quality of the product.

Hey Arrow, I don't know any facts about these orders or whatever... but I find ML14 and ML15 all the time here in the UK.

 

and I don't think they were that limited in the US, I saw them all the time at TRU and KB...
