What might have been...

We'd have gotten from Toybiz a fair bit what we got from Hasbro.

Toybiz was ready to drop the comics. They were looking for ways to cut costs and expand the Marvel brand.

All the figures that appeared in the first two waves, plus the Ghost Rider movie line were Toybiz concieved and designed--only executed by Hasbro.

There would have been not broader ancilliary products like the Potato Head or other stuff--as Toybiz had nothing like it. Distrbution would have econtinued to be spotty.

The glut of product last year was simply the brand managers attempt to get as much of THEIR work out on the market in 2006 as possible--to go out with a bang.

There's no indications that Face-offs or Showdown were successful or would have continued under Toybiz.

So, yea.........we can speculate but its really just a purple-hazed pipe dream.

We've gotten decent product thus far, and as its been repeated ad nauseum now, Toybiz had its shared ouf outright dogs too.......Face Off Mandarin anyone??

Also, before anyone complains how Hasbro ml does not have any cut joints on the biceps, it seems that Toybiz may have remove it even if they had the license. I just looked at a review at AFT (http://www.aftimes.com/aslu/slu.shtml), where they have a mini review of Witchblade. Despite the Witchblade figure is made from a retooled Psylocke base, she does not have a cut biceps nor a swivel wrist.

So who to say that things would not have change if TB still have the license for ML?

Personally, I don't think the Character selection is Hasbro's problem... it's the lack of paintwash, and lack of articulation... we've gotten some great overdue figures like: She-Hulk, Quicksilver, Blob, etc but some really crappy versions of Characters like: Emma, Banshee, etc. Hasbro needs to stop the X3 and Ultimate crap... and bring back Face-Off's, aswell as some Box Sets...

And besides, we might have only gotten those figures from 2006 because TB was in a super rush frenzy...

Lack of articulation?????? Why do you guys always complain about damn articulation? The hasbro figures are fine, the toybiz legends had way to much articulation to the point were they were too loose to stand. Now how can that be better?? I think not!! LESS IS BETTER!

They're toys that are meant to be played with. More articulation is always better. Go buy some mcfarlane plastic statues bub.

It depends how weird articulation looks, actually. For example, iceman`s body is just horrible, but there`s bullseye`s or black panther´s molds which look great.

I so sick of all you winers just be glad we still have this line and get over it!!!!!

Sorry, but I'm not one to willingly bend over and accept a raw deal. I guess that you are?

I'm happy opening a package and not having it fall apart, or worse have a seized joint that breaks as soon as you turn it! You can wax peotic about Toybiz all you want but I know the reality of the situation...NOT ALL OF IT WAS GOOD!!! I'm pleased that the line has survived, but if you're so unhappy stop buying, and for gravy's sake how long are you guys gonna beat this dead horse?!

"Gravy's sake?" I don't think that kind of extreme language has any place in a civil conversation.

It's always interesting to see the people that rush to Hasbro's defense in threads like this. People are so sick of the "whining" and they choose to counteract it w/ whining about the whiners. Good luck w/ all that, lol. If it's so bothersome, why not just avoid the topic all-together? It's not like his thread title was cryptic or confusing....it pretty much told you what it was going to be about.

Yay! You started another 'I hate Hasbro so I'll make another thread' topic..

Wal-Mart wave? Yeah, I'm still mad about that. I have SO MANY Wal-Marts in my area and never saw a one. And you can tell at the low distribution, but how much the avg one goes for on e-bay. Not to mention, I finally snagged a bearded Sentry for $14 shipped and when I popped the clam shell his right arm.. fell off. >.< Oh. And last but not least... I need a VARIANT to complete the BAF?! Sheesh.

This board has turned into a Civil War in-upon itself. Those who are fighting change both tooth and nail and those who are ready to accept the good with the bad and see what the future brings. Obviously, we all like the Toy Biz stuff... or we wouldn't be on here talking about it.

It's not a "I hate Hasbro" thread...if you think that, then you obviously didn't read the first message.

Mad about the WalMart wave?? Don't have any WalMarts near you? Bummer...I found them all, incluidng the variants, and an extra set for a friend , in one store.

Oh, sorry...that sounds like gloating...

I don't think we would have seen any more ML product on the shelves at this point if Toy Biz was still doing it. Their distribution sucked. They did at least have a sister line with Spider-Man and there wass usually at least one figure in there that was ML worthy. That kind of filled the gap. Unfortunately Hasbro scaled down the movie figs so they don't serve that purpose. I think the big difference is not the selection or frequency but the quality. The only real step ups Hasbro has given is the colored plastic for flesh tones and stronger quality of plastic. Those are real improvements. The dumbed downed articulation of the elbow and hands is a real step back and so is the more cartoony stylizations of the figures. Over all, I miss Toy Biz because their figures usually had the more realistic, Alex Ross level detailing. Hasbro is really dumbing down ML. And to those that say there's no point whinning about it - Hasbro claims to read these boards and pay heed to our feedback. Therefore, this is how we tell them what we want, what we like and what we don't like. According to Hasbro, our comments serve a purpose. Maybe they're their blowing smoke, I don't know.

I have around 6-7 Wal-Marts in a 60ish mile radius (hence the "SO MANY Wal-Marts in my area comment") from me (I can hit 3 or 4 in under an hour drive) and I never saw them. But, no big deal. I can slowly grab them for double the cost off of E-bay. But grats on finding that many could have just been my area.

And maybe I.. mid-read your statement. I apologize for any offense taken. I was just merely pointing out I miss collectors sharing a common interest, but this message board tends to be littered with so much spite and angst. But I was just figuring from the: "So far in '07, HASBRO has only given us two (2) friggin' waves", "instead, we get two (2) mediocre HML waves..." that you were unhappy with Hasbro, which sparked this thread.

OK...here's the assignment...

Based on how great 2006 was, let's have a little fun and speculate on what we might realistically have seen in 2007 if Toy-Biz still had the license for LEGENDS.

So far in '07, HASBRO has only given us two (2) friggin' waves...if Toy-Biz was still running the show, I think we'd have had:

ML 16, 17, and 18 by now, including some all-time requested figs, like...

...Adam Warlock (my fav), Black-Bolt (yes...he's coming, but with TB, I think we'd have him by now), Sunfire, Warpath, Penance, Nova...who else???

Box-Sets...

...Civil War...Annihilation...Planet Hulk (with his alien buddies)...the Mighty Avengers...what else??

Face-Offs Wave 3 (at least)...Modern Iron-Man vs. Modern Cap from Civil War...what else??

BAFs...

...Lock-Jaw...Goliath (RIP)...what else??

Others...

...at least 1 wave each of SMC and XMC...

...another WalMart exclusive wave? (Now that was FUN!)

...well-done, 6" movie figs of Spidey 3, Ghost Rider, and FF 2??

Yup...it would've been good.

Instead, we get two (2) mediocre HML waves...

To quote Dr. Smith from LOST IN SPACE..."Oh, the pain...the pain..."

and what would you call the last two series toy biz did? I call them MEDIOCRE. The only thing that be different is the paint job. Truefully the first two wave where toybiz work, half the sculpters went to work for hasbro to my understanding. I don't think there be that much different.Of course we already have pics of the next couple series. @smilepunch@

That's easy...I'd call ML 14 and ML 15 freakin' AWESOME!!!!

I got several Silver and Bronze-age figures I always wanted but never thought I'd get in ML 14 and ML 15...

1st Apperance Iron-Man, Baron Zemo, Luke Cage, Falcon, MoonKnight, Wasp, Captain Marvel, Modok BAF, Destroyer, two different Spiderwomans...

yup...ML 14 and ML 15 were freakin' AWESOME!!!!

...Now what was your question again???

MUHAHA ML 14 and 15 were easily the worst toy biz waves ever (14 in particular) Thorbuster Iron Man juat wasn't needed there are so many more important IM armors we need first. Modok and Captain Marvell was the only figures I'd claim to be of any real importance. The whole mojo wave sucked. Falcon is just plain goofy as hell and Power Man well @#$% power man(and iron fist too)

Now what might have been? I would wish that Toy Biz made an all cosmic beings wave with a build a figure Eternity!!! The waves #1 star figure would be Adam Warlock circa 91-92 followed by Quasar, Magnus, Drax the Destroyer w/ pip the troll, Epoch, terrax, Thanos(i know the MS version was almost perfect but he's such an important character he deserves another plastic treatment), a new silver surfer(one that wasn't so vertically challenged, no little guys allowed) Anyways my main point is Adam Warlock deserves a figure more then any character remaining in the whole marvel universe.

Sorry, but you're dead wrong.

ML 14 and ML 15 rocked. They were among the best waves ever. Your inability to appreciate the greatness of Silver and Bronze-Age Legends like Power-Man, Iron-Fist (ML 12!) and the Falcon is probably indicative of your age. What a shame...

...however, you've redeemed yourself with what I would consider to be an EXCELLENT wave!

I would kill for an Adam Warlock, Drax (in his 1970's outfit), and Pip...I could care less about Terrax as a character, although he'd probably be a kick-ass figure...and we need a Legends-scale Thanos.

But ML 14 and ML 15 were great...you can't deny it...it's simply a fact.

I'd have to split hairs there. I loved the Modok wave, but only own Zemo from the Mojo wave. I have to disagree with the age comment. I've been reading comics for 20 years and I would prefer modern costumes of many characters to their Golden. Silver, or Bronze Age counterparts.

I'll agree they look great and are charaters i have been wanting and are True legends. But the plastic they use sucked this were the only two wave that i got where the joints broke.Falcon foot and knee broke taking it out of the packing.Same thing happen with spiderwoman. I'am just saying they they let the bar drop a little. AND ONE THING I LOVE ABOUT HASBRO it's soooo much easier getting out the figure out of the blister pack. AS for the topic at least we wouldn't have movie fig in the waves.

Could some one tell me what is wrong with hacing movie figures in the waves? or for that matter Ultimate figures? There both Marvel product and it better to get them now then not getting at all. and before you said movie fig should have there own movie figure line, hasbro is only doin the X3 figure as it too late to do a separate line now.

Because 616 rules all the universes. And movie and ultimates suck. And we shouldn't be forced to buy them in a 616 Legends line.

agree... movie figures are crappy from the get go because they are based on BUTTUGLY character designs from Marvel movies that do no justice to the characters they are based on.

it is a crime that I have to buy X3 Jean Grey, Juggernaut, or Beast if I want their BAF parts.

these figures have no business being in ML.. so yeah.. I would say its better to not get them, than have them in ML

I actually like the availability of the Hasbro line versus the Toybiz line. I was never able to find a Dark Phoenix when she first came out and I had to dish out 60 dollars on Ebay. To date, I have been able to get every figure that Hasbro has released. I was never able to get everyfigure from the Toybiz line because the characters I wanted were never evenly made. Hasbro at least doesn't have the same view on Female figures selling that Toybiz does. Just to be fair, Toybiz has released its fair share of crappy paintjobs and sculpts. That neckjoint on the Electra, Phoenix, blackwidos, and those horrible duck feet were really bad on toybiz's part. Emma and X3 Jean may not be the most attractive, but with some airbrushing the faces can look much more attractive.

but ML isn't a 616 universe line. it a marvel line. that means it's for all of marvel universes.

it may not be a 616 universe line but it is a marvel legends line. a lot of people look at it as another marvel line and it is. however it is a marvel LEGENDS line. we have to remember legends in which the line was made for otherwise it would simply be called marvel. basically i am trying to say we need to keep legends in the marvel legends line and movie figs in a line of their own.
