Col.Sharp in T-Formers Movie

I noticed it too and when i told some one i was with they mentioned it in armaggedon. since one of the produicers is working on developing gi joe as well i doubt its a coincidence, and bay didn't write the script so the whole armaggedon thing could be coincidence.

no, there is neither anything significant about the character Colonel Sharp in the Joe universe or anything unique about the name Sharp to give it anymore meaning and a correlation from Joes to Transformers. pure coincidence. if there was going to be some hidden connections that were meant to connect the two and give fanboys wet dreams, it would have been done with actual Joe characters, not random characters from a cartoon that have no toys or real meaning to the Joe verse.

Plus, the whole gi joe vs. transformers run, they've gotta be. Nick Fury started gi joe after all!!

 

I can definitely see what your saying though...i mean, why arent there superheros all over the place in the comics, and why is gi joe never really mentioned in any military aspects of any other marvel comics.

Alright, first of all Nick Fury didn't start G.I. JOE. G.I. JOE was started by President Kennedy. Now Larry Hamma based the G.I. JOE characters off of "Fury Force" - a would be marvel comic starring "Nick Fury Jr." It's my understanding the Fury Jr. character evolved into Hawk. There was some arguments that G.I. JOE and Transformers were both part of the Marvel Universe because Spider-man made an apperance in an early issue of Transformers and the Transformers later appeared in issues of G.I. JOE. There were also tanks in the Transformer comics that looked a hell of a lot like MOBATS. There was also a cameo by J. Jonah Jameson in an issue of G.I. JOE. Officially however they are not. The G.I. JOE vs Transformers series are seperate continuities in themselves.

Don't forgot Death's Head first made his appearance in Marvel Transformers comics and then became a character in the normal Marvel U.

 

And if GI Joe had been officially in the actual Marvel U Cobra would have amounted to about the same as Hydra, the Hand, or AIM. Not to mention why need GI Joe when you have SHIELD around..? Although, GI Joe members being SHIELD agents could have been.. interesting.

See here's where some people can't look at different Continuities, and realities.... you just have to imagine that they are all different continuities.......all versions of the GI Joe and Transformer cross-overs were just that...the Devils Due was different from the Dreamwave, and the same for the Marvel.......... It's like that with alot of Comicbook related stories.......... As for you who saw the TF Movie already, you'll see that it has nothing to do with the actual Original Origin, it amongst itself is different....... they just happened to put a col.Sharp in there , perhaps one of the writters loved GI Joe.....

 

As for the whole Fairborne thing it's the same with that....you know that just wanted to put Flint in that episode just to be sortof like a What if.

They said they "had G.I. Joe in mind" as they wrote it, but said that they can't commit to it being G.I.Joe.

 

In other words: yes.

The Marvel Universe consists of Marvel characters, thus why it is The Marvel Universe. Joe and Transformers are not Marvel characters, they were simply liscensed titles, and thus are not part of the Marvel Universe IMO. they are more a part of the Marvel Publishing Rights Sub-Solar System.

Ok first of all Nick Fury had nothing to do with GIJoe. Second that type of cover with all the heroes on the boarder was used on every Marvel Comic title including GIJoe and Transformers that particular year/month to celebrate Marvel's 25th Anniversary, it had nothing to do with GIJoe specifically.

 

Now if you want real conection between the regular Marvel Universe and GIJoe then I suggest you pick up issues of Spider-Man during the time of Secret Wars II. I forget the exact issue #'s, but basically the Beyonder had turned a huge boat into solid gold and the military was called in to take it apart and get rid of it. Basically they were affraid that if that much gold that was created out of thin air got out, it would throw the econmey in a tizzy. Anyway I think you'll find the name of one of the Military commanders of that mission to be very familiar.

 

Other connections would be Spider-Man in isssue #3 of Transformers, and during the Marvel run it was pretty much established TF and GIJoe were in the same universe. There was the limited series and then the Transformers Generation 2 comic had GIJoe in it throughout. Also In GIJoe it was Cobra that turned Megatron from a gun into a big green tank.

In the cartoon, it was pretty much established Marisa Fairborne was Flints daughter, and in an episode where the Quintasons were using illiusions, and older Flint makes an appearance, voiced by the actor who did Flint in the cartoon. Also a old Cobra Commander made an appearance in the Transformers cartoon as well.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm not around as much online as I once was and just happened across this thread and thought I would put in my 2 cents because I heard it straight from them.

 

I believe the comment your refering to was about Section 7. When they created section 7, they said they had GIJoe in mind but Section 7 is not meant to be GIJoe.

 

I'm definitely not mixing up the two. At the writers panel, I was going to stand up and ask myself, but someone beat me to it. The question was asked about Colonel Sharp without any mention of Sector 7 and they answered about Sharp specifically.

Ok, what i should have said, was that Nick Fury was the proposed founder of gi joe in its BEGINNING STAGES. It eventually went off of this track...the point is, Hamma's intent was to have gi joe a part of marvel.
