Official Movie talk for those who HAVE seen it. SPOILERS GALORE

I liked it.

Heh, now my own comments:

Sam's ancestor found Megatron in the 1890s.

I had no problems with the voices since none of the Transformers had any real depth to make the voices matter.

Starscream gave me NO indication of being like G1 Starscream in wanting to lead the Decepticons and/or destroy Megatron. Now that Megatron is dead? Maybe.

I thought the story moved along at a good pace and had little distracting side stories. The thing with Mikaela's dad was a kind of "roll your eyes moment" but didn't detract.

The whole "sector 7" thing was annoying and cliche.

The fact all our "modern" technology was derived from Megatron was kinda lame as well. Almost a Catch-22. The Transformers technology would have been so advanced by comparison that we would NEED the technology we have to even understand it. I mean we ARE talking the 1930s.

How'd they manage to cart Megatron from the Arctic to the Hoover damn without him waking up? Again, we ARE talking the 1930s.

The didn't use the "transforming sound" enough, IMO.

The toys weren't enough like the characters. I mean Ratchet didn't even come with a gun. and Scorponok was attached to Blackout's propellers?

Frenzy was annoying and overused.

The Decepticons didn't get enough "air time". They coulda just stuck with Blackout, Barricade, Starscream and Megatron. Bonecrusher and Brawl seemed almost like afterthoughts.

DAMN Prime had some significant manual dexterity to pick up those tiny ass little glasses!

They shoulda played up the "disguise" bit more. Even Prime, they could have EASILY eluded pursuit in any parking lot.

The nod to G1 Bumblebee was cool.

Blackout was such a bad ass at the beginning to suck so bad later.

Megatron HAD to kick Prime's ass in order to force Sam to kill Megatron instead of Prime.

The TFs "asumed new forms" a little to easily. Bumbleebee and Frenzy both changed alt forms easily which told me the others could as well. Combine that with my "disguise" comment above, they could have easily hidden by assuming other forms.

So those "spark affected" machines just ran off? From what we saw, they should have been extremely violent (attacking humans, etc.). Or were we to just assume the Autobots hunted them down.

The ending, while it was a cool idea to throw the Decepticons into the trench, was stupid. What is this, Men in Black? NO WAY IN HELL are the gonna cover THAT up!

ALL the scenes with Scorponok were pretty pointless. They could have easily saved all the resources used for those scenes on the rest of the movie.

I just saw it and liked it a lot!

What I liked:

Any scene with the Autobots in it. The part where they were at Sam's house was GREAT! Suprised no one mentioned that yet.

I liked the jokes/humor in the movie.

Sweet fights (Bumblebee vs Barricade)

Introduction of the Autobots.

Devistator is better than Brawl anyway......

Optimus Prime OWNS! ("Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.", "One shal stand, one shal fall".)

I'd like Mikala to be my GF :)

Didn't like:

Some of the human stuff. I KNOW you NEED the humans in there and most of it worked (Sam and his family, the army) but some was either just over the top or pointless (Mikala's record, the eye candy computer geek, the cop who interrogated Sam, that STUPID section 7 guy) They could cut that $%^& out.

.........I think that's it. Starscream underused, yeah. But I didn't really care.

Jazz's death..........yep, I was sad. Everyone knows why they did it, right? TO SHOW MEGATRON'S POWER! No, not because he's the "black" Autobot (probably the dumbest fan-boy-created controversy in recent memory, by the way ).

I saw a Bay interview where he states: "I think his name is Frenzy." With THAT kind of in depth knowledge on individual TFs, I can imagine him doing enni-meeni-miney-mo between Jazz, Ratchet, and Ironhide when deciding who to kill. Again, it was to show Meg's POWER.

I'd see this again. Pretty darn good.

I just talked to my brother after he saw it.

He hated EVERYTHING about it.

Too cliche in every respect. Why did nobody (except Bumblebee) use beam weapons? How come everyone suffered from "Storm Trooper Syndrome".

Jazz's death..........yep, I was sad. Everyone knows why they did it, right? TO SHOW MEGATRON'S POWER! No, not because he's the "black" Autobot (probably the dumbest fan-boy-created controversy in recent memory, by the way ).

Watch some movies where characters die. Especially when there is only 1 black character. 98% of the time, the black character dies. Frequently first.

The fact it was done to show Megatron's power is irrelevant and NOBODY is disagreeing with you. But it STILL follows the "minority character dies" formula.

Why not Ironhide or Ratchet? With the exception of Prime and Bumblebee all the other Autobots were basically cardboard cutouts. Megatron could have easily killed one of them instead.

Yeah, I forgot about the irritating Sector 7 guy, complete in an all-black get-up. (Please...) Although I like the notion of having this secret division of the government that the GOVERNMENT itself doesn't even know about, I would have liked it better had they been a little more realistic and believeable. I do like the notion of the government knowing of Transformers long before anyone else, ala Roswell however. That's a cool touch. It's still a cool movie that'd I'd like to see again.

Oh, and one more thing; I mentioned how I thought Shia LeBeouf played a great part. Well, when I first learned he was in the movie, I really didn't think much about it. I just knew he had enjoyed some success in television, and that he was the latest young, up-and-coming new star. Then I read rumors online stating that Spielberg was so impressed with his work on Transformers that he had tapped him to play Indiana Jones' son in the upcoming film. I immediately thought to myself, "How silly. Steven Spielberg's just wanting to jump on the bandwagon and inject some youthful appeal into the older Indiana Jones franchise. Meh." But after seeing him in Transformers, and also seeing a resemblance to Harrison Ford in him even, I agree completely with Spielberg now. I even saw a pic somewhere where LeBeouf has the late Fiftees/early-Sixtees 'do and leather jacket in the film. It may be cliche, but it'd be interesting to see this punk of a kid, who doesn't appreciate (Or even know?) his father who's been in-and-out of his life, get caught up in an adventure with him to discover what a heroic adventurer his "old man" has been all these years. Ah...I didn't mean to go off a tangent there. Where am I again? The Transformers section of the boards? Sorry... (lol)

Ahh.....I guess I'm going to need some examples there. I've seen a lot of movies where people die.....guess I failed to spot this mythical "black man dies first" formula.

Why not Ironhide or Ratchet? Exactly my point. Could have been ANY of the three. Then again, I think the only way they could have been completely safe whould have been to kill Ratchet. Kill Ironhide and people STILL could have said "ohhhhhhh......They killed the "black" Autobot first!" Does THAT sound rediculous? That's how I feel about the Jazz thing......:)

He was the smallest tf, with the most spirit and heart. He wasn't intimidated by Megs, while Rachet and Ironhide WERE. And Prime was off fighting Bonecrusher.. But the 2 retreated when they saw him coming. After that, Jazz went after him.. or maybe it was before? I can't remember.. Either way, he went after Megs, and that's what got him killed. That and being so small. It was too easy for Megs to rip him apart.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing and seeing the stupid "the colored or black person dies first". It's what everyone assumes once someone dies... Again, they're transformers! Regardless of voice, they have NO COLOR! So you can't base it on their voice... Sheesh! Too much controversy and all that for a silly, fun movie! :)

Yeah, it does. Because Jazz's PERSONALITY was that of a STEREOTYPICAL black man, as others pointed out. And I didn't say "black man dies first" formula. I said FREQUENTLY they die first. I ALSO said it was "minority character dies" formula.

Take a look: http://www.feoamante.com/Movies/racial.html

But also, RC Rika's post above (well the first part) explained the situation pretty well.

Yes I hope they really learn from this one and the next is al ot lot better! :) Though I still enjoyed the entire movie :) s7 guys should have been better for sure! I hope they make the army guys from this film into the next whatever main human focus of the next tf film if anything! I don't mind army guys trying to lay a beat down on TFs but they made it a bit too easy this time around I bet next time it will be a lot hardy because this time around the decepticons most likely just considered the humans a joke & got cocky

the flea may be small but it can still bite you're ass abunch of times :P

The blonde chick and her friend were the 2 to figure out what was going on... although how 2 kids figured it out over a bunch of seniored hacker guys, I'll never know. The hacker buddy also got them able to communicate with others, like the Air Force, when they were stuck in that room, with Frenzy. It was almost as if they were trying to cater to younger adults and kids, by showing that all the kids were the only ones able to do anything and everything. Aka, Sam, Mikaela, the blonde chick hacker & her hacker buddy...

I also could have done w/o the hackers, they really added nothing, especially Anthony Anderson. He plays an overacting douche in anything I've ever seen him in. I usually like John Turtorro but his S7 character was ridiculously lame. These characters and Frenzy were my only real gripes w/ the movie.

Tis true... kind of pointless, and the whole scenes with John Turturro were ridiculous. He got on my nerves.... and the undershirt and boxers was pointless. Why did they had him take off his clothes? That was weird.

They could have dumped a LOT of the human characters. The blonde chick and her "hacker" friend where pointless characters, for example.

If you need to make Sam's GF a hottie, then OK. I'll buy it. But there ARE NO computer nerds that look like that in real life and who hang out with OTHER nerds!!!!

Also.....anyone catch the part at the end where Ironhide is saving the "average" person on the street in slow-motion? The "average" person being a busty chick in a low cut sun dress  C'mon, Bay.....!

there's no average looking people in movies, that would just be wrong :P

Saw the movie last week at the Arclight on sunet. Easily one of the best movies I've ever seen. Plus I got to see the autobots in person! Well at least in their vehicle modes, which they had on display.

As for the "black bot" getting killed; if it makes any difference scorponok killed the white guy instead of Tyrese. And does anyone know where I can get that air freshener Bumblebee had when he was a classic Camaro?
