Once again Fred from JBL and I have teamed up for a new review!

This time around we focus on the 25th Anniversary Scarlett. Everything you wanted to know (and somethings you probably didn't) with literally dozens of pictures!

Check it out here!

Yes, Fred's pictures are much better than mine...please don't make fun of me. :(

When I first saw these figure I knew right from the beginning I would hate the crotch. It just looked like a diaper. Anyways with more and more pictures floating around I was starting to warm up to these figures a lot. But seeing the effect that crotch piece has on articulation is a MAJOR let down. I wish I could buy a single pack first and not a multi-pack. That way I could check just one out and make a hands on decision.

The crotch design is bad, and there's no good excuse for it. It reminds me of how Star Wars fans praise the super articulated Clone troopers...who can't sit down with out risk of damaging the figure. If vintage Kenner figures can do something easily that modern figures cannot do...there's something wrong.

The comparison shots with VOTC Han Solo shows that Hasbro could've made the 25th Joes actually 3 3/4" and super articulated...but they just didn't feel like it. But I guess that scale issue is "nonsense", according to Fred.

Also, General_Hawk, you mix RAH and new sculpts in your dio stories quite often, and now you seem to think it's odd that fans would want 25th figures to mix with vintage figures.

Not only that, but Leo or you mix Scarlett with Cobra Infantry in the bottom photos!

WTF?

Really.

I can't say I won't buy the 25th figures, but I collect 3 3/4", the more they get away from that the less interested I am.

Excellent review as always gentlemen, and much appreciated! Some of my concerns were laid to rest, and the ONLY complaint I'd have on this particular figure, would be the poor range of motion on the hip/leg joint. :(

While they've ADDED quite a few nifty little points of articulation elsewhere, they've limited one of the most BASIC of articulation points, and that would be the sitting position. Her ankles and arms and hands go go anywhich way and that, but she just can't quite have a proper seat. @loll@

Nevertheless...I deem this Scarlett the BEST of the litter. The original was god-awful ugly and had a HUUUGE melon head. The JvC Scarlett looked like a walking skeleton, with a transvestites head on her, and the comic pack Scarlett was the extreme opposite of it's original mold, in that they wentr too far the other way on her head dimensions and gave her a pea-head.

I love this new Scarlett, despite the one flaw I can see in her, she's looking great!

Great review guys, thanks for the massive amount of pictures! It answers a lot of questions I had that none of the other reviews had covered thus far. The Barrage mix n' match photo was scary! :D

I am LOVING this figure design and my only complaint is in the limited motion of the leg and hip joint,

but still if this is my only complaint then I'm happy with that.

I'd sure like to know whether or not the larger figures or any of the same size figures have the same lack of mobility

My fiance said the same thing when I showed her the pic. She got this strange look, told me it was scary and that I had issues.

It's nice to get confirmation on these things now and then! :)

Glad you guys liked the review. For my half I tried to be as objective as possible. I don't want to lead Joe fans astray by NOT pointing out the flaws in something and yet I'm trying to avoid the whole "OMG! Deth of teh line!1!!!!" stereotype as well.

With that simple dremel adjustment that figure becomes a hundred times better and something that I would definately buy one of just about every character they released. Even with the scale problems. Simply being able to use the new figures with my existing vehicle collection would make it ok. Sometimes I LOVE putting Old RAH figs on new DTC vehicles. Or New DTC figs on old RAH vehicles. So I would get a lot of enjoyment from this line if hasbro would just do that one simple thing.

Honestly it looks BETTER to me after the adjustment, of course it needs to be cleaned up and smoothed out but it gets rid of the diaper look I hated so much.

So has anyone else considered that this complete lack of ability to sit could mean Hasbro is not really considering any vehicles for this line ever?

Or are we afraid they will just do like they did with GvC/Spy Troops/VvV and change the scale/articulation/everything with each new wave?

I don't mean to be a harbinger of doom or always hating but I will say that the past decade has taken a serious toll on my patience. I went to Toys R Us the other day, and noticed that the 2.5 scale joes were just gone. They had some of the massive helicopter on 50% off clearance and otherwise nothing. It actually saddened me. Not because I only collect 3 3/4, but because I'm tired of seeing GI Joe treated this way. Constantly changing with no consistency in quality or products. It really made me sad. Honestly I dont care if its 3 3/4 inch, 4 inch, 8 inch, 2.5 inch, Just make a solid joe product that can maintain a presence in the market and define what GI Joe is today, whatever that is.

Awesome job on the dremeling and what a DIFFERENCE! A perfect figure now. Maybe some folks will see the difference, that can MAKE a difference on some future molds? ;)

thanks for the review! i saw it yesterday and thought of the dremeling and glad to see you tried it and it works. I'll probably also cut mine a bit at the boot level to shorten her.

Got my Scarlett today after she sat at the PO since Sat. :D Freaking damn, I LOVE the new style!! I can see like most of my new sculpt Joes going in a damn box they suck so much compared this design style!! I can not wait to get my hands on the rest of these buggers!! Only bad thing about mine is, her arms are on the wrong side, minus the hands. BUt that is a easy fix.
