I think this is going to be awesome.

Listen to what Bruce Timm says about the movie at the official site:

My first thought was, "Augh, ya know, we can't do that. It's... It's just too much to do in a movie."

"My brain was just reeling because there was... There was just so much story there."

You know, it's underachievers/cynics/fatalists/pessimists/defeatists, like this guy, that are the reason we can't get these kind of stories in live-action movie form. Hearing him saying that made me sick!

You're kidding right? It sounds like those comments are just an initial reaction to someone saying "hey let's make Death of Superman an animated feature." When I read they were making it I was weary, but given the track record of the Timmverse I'm pretty confident they can pull it off.

And I would think they got a different Luthor because they changed his look and the old voice wouldn't fit him as he appears in this.

Just from the look of the teaser there it should top any of Marvel's animated efforts.

Don't get me wrong. I think this animated movie will be awesome, but I'm serious about what I said. Going by what Bruce Timm said, he has a defeatist attitude. It's people like him that are the reason we don't get stories like that in live-action movie form.

Until recently, it seems, to me, that animation gave you the opportunity to do anything and everything you can possibly imagine. More than live-action. However, I also think that with live-action you can do pretty much anything, now, as well.

Actually, he said "Our first thought", and I took his tone not as "Oh noes, we can't do that! Its impossibibble!" It sounded more like he was looking back on some earlier conversations about it where they were probably fretting about the sheer amount of stuff that they had to fit into a tiny movie, not only the quantity, but the bringing it to the screen without....whats the word....gutting it.

You're taking that single line way out of context. I mean, seriously, how could you call Bruce Timm an underachiever by any means?

The reason we won't get a story like this in live-action is because there's more at stake (money, I mean) and therefore a lot more people involved in the creative process who shouldn't be. Bruce Timm's vision of the DC Universe has been better than we've ever gotten in live-action form, and will probably ever get, because of studio execs and the like.
