well whatever you do don't spoil SM3 but so are you saying it didn't sound good? I'm sure the action and visuals will be nice..

I think that Peter has moved past the highschool/college Peter that you saw in the early 60s and in SM4 should be at the point we saw him as in the 80s-90s. Older, an adult, different look.. Recasting would be fine for me at that point. A clone saga would be great.

As far as Sam Raimi's next project I'd rather him do Evil Dead 4

Not going to spoil it, visuals will be great I'm sure, it's just the story didn't impress me. We'll see when it comes out though.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and ask a delicate question:

Do we really NEED a Spiderman IV? Seriously.

Don't get me wrong - I'm looking forward to Spiderman III - a lot! But I honestly think that after 3 movies, Raimi has probably said all that he wants to say about Spiderman, and perhaps all that there really is to say.

Sure, there's reams of Spidey material to continue using, but I think that much of that, unless done EXTREMELY well, would appeal only to hardcore fans, not the rest of the public (just my opinion).

I, for one, would rather that MARVEL STUDIOS re-focus their efforts on bringing the rest of Marvel's great characters to the screen. I'm looking forward to Ironman more than any MARVEL film in recent history (well...since Spiderman I, actually...).

From a financial standpoint, the franchise will probably generate money into a fourth, fifth, and maybe a Spidey VI, and if so, they'll make those movies, too, with or without Raimi, Maguire, etc. But personally, I'd start to get bored...

Thoughts?

I agree and disagree. I think after the 3rd one they will be able to stand on their own as three of the best comic book movies made. But, as you said, they have only scratched the surface of the source material. I think Raimi is the heart-and-sole of the franchise, even though he did his best to keep Venom from making an appearance in any of his movies. McGuire is fairly easily replaced and Dunst is not even worth discussing...she is a compete non-factor.

Ultimately, Sony owns the franchise, not Marvel. They have to produce a new movie every 4-5 years or the rights revert back to Marvel. They will not let this happen until they have milked the franchise dry (if ever) and it will be FAR from that, even after the 3rd movie.

How long have the waited between movies so far?.. I think they should give it a rest after the 3rd one personaly & wait untill like ... the 5th year or whatever before they start to make another one ...

Here's an idea, end the Spidey series at 3 like X-Men but let Brock survive the end of SM3(dunno if he does or doesn't but the way the marvel movies go hehehe) and do a Venom spin off movie like X-Men is getting Wolverine, just use Venom for the Spidey franchise, might not be a huge movie like the Spidey's but should do fairly well.
