Review: Marvel Legends Blob Series Quicksilver

Ryno

Recommended Posts

I think you're being overly harsh; perhaps it's the curse of high expectations. When Quicksilver wore this costume waaaaaay back in the 60's-70's, this IS how it looked. Stitching on the boots, golves, etc, would have been a nice touch, but it's not really part of the costume design. Same for the lightning bolt - its not a "relief", it's painted on.

Also, complaining that he doesn't look angry?!?! He looks pretty stern to me.

I do think HASBRO has skimped on some measures of detailing (paint washed and apps) on this figure, though I think with the new survey, that will improve.

I'm looking forward to adding Pietro to my collection.

I agree. This figure isn't nearly as bad as the review says. There's room for a little improvement, but I'm happy enough with mine.

What really blows my mind is that the review gave Quicksilver a lower score than Ultimate Wolvy!! Not to be rude to Ryno, but that kind of blows his credibility as a reviewer to me. Ultimate Wolvy is the worst ML ever made and that opinion seems pretty clearly in the majority based on other threads. I don't think you'll find too many people who won't at least put him in the bottom five. No way is Pietro worse than that colossal POS.

I don't get this review either.

If one took a look at figures like the ML 1 Captain America or the Walmart Wave Ant-man, you'll see two very simple looking figures.

Cap's anatomy is really quite bizarre, especially his chest/torso. Ant-man has a very simple "retro" looking costume, with a lot of parts molded in colour ( iirc).

Yet both figures are widely considered to be gems of the whole line. Sometimes a character has such simple clean lines and forms that translation to a figure leaves one wanting more.

Imagine, for a moment, who a Namor figure would translat? He's essentially a nude human male wearing only swim trunks and has those funky ankle wings. What kind of definition does he need beyond the basic anatomy? Bulging veins? Body hair? He doesn't have the latter, and too much of the former would make the figure look grotesque. What could they really do with Quicksliver--who is essentially the same kind of figure?? He's a "covered" nude--with a neck to toes bodysuit.

Stitching was mentioned as a molded detail........but that's a judgement call whether to add it or not.

Some Marvel Legends figures have that kind of added detail, some don't.

Let's face facts here, if Quicksilver gains a "uninteresting" score because of his costume SCULPT, its pobably because he has a somewhat uninteresting costume DESIGN to begin with.

I'll have the figure in hand in a couple of weeks, but I don't think the pics show him deserving a low score.

To each reviewer his own, however.

i dont have the fig yet but from what i've seen it seems to be a desent figure dispite it's bulleye-type sculpt i mean he hasn't changed is costume much, well maybe a repaint of this costume. but it probally has the most POA in the series. if this what he is like with the better i hate to she what the rest of the reviews (yellowjacket, blob) are like and they are the better figures

I did give Ultimate Wolverine a lower score than Quicksilver in ratio. I completely left the Accessories category out of Quicksilver's review which brought the "out of a possible..." down by 10.

I gave Ultimate Wolverine a 30 out of a possible 60

and Quicksilver a 28 out of a possible 50

I totally agree with Ryno.. this figure is a big dissappointment.... its sooo boring and definitely needs paint. I think though, Ryno gave him too much credit in the Value category... 6? more like 4 to me.

I just think this figure is much better than what Hasbro decided to go with

Seems a little low to me, too. It's a boring figure, but it's not that bad. Even w/ the different ratios, Wolvie scored a 50% and QS a 56%...there's no way they should be that close. I do see why Hasbro has basically decided to stop using paints and just go w/ colored plastic for everything....the one thing they had to paint (besides the head obviously) looks like complete ass...very sloppy.
