Week 1 GIJoe Question & Answer Section For Hasbro

JayC

Recommended Posts

Though JayC will likely not use this question as it's coming from me (as we've had a series of lovers' spats), I'll take a crack at it...

How would the Hasbro reps categorize this new 3.75" line:

1) As a continuation of the JvC, DTC, etc. line, or

2) As a continuation of the 25th Anniversary line and, therefore, a relaunch of sorts?

I ask because the answer to this question could tell us a lot about quality, articulation, character choice, etc.

1. Why does Hasbro think that people won't buy female action figures when the vintage female Joes are some of the most valuable?

2. Why not reissue some long-lost favorites like the WHALE? They will sell, assuming Hasbro ever fixes their distribution problem with some stores getting a lot, some stores gettig a few, and some stores getting nothing.

1) Can you shed some light on what the upcoming "Cobra Jet Pack Trooper" featured in the second Cobra 5-pack is based off, and perhaps share a picture of him to kick off the first Q/A in style?

2)The fan response has been overwhemingly positive and upbeat for this re-launch of the 3.75" Joes based on the pictures released to date of the two 5-packs and first wave of single pack figures. Aside from re-issuing the DTC vehicles in new deco, do you see an opportunity to revisit some of the old classic mid-sized vehicles such as the Vamp, Stinger, AWE Striker, etc. and re-release them with slight tooling and deco changes to bring them up to the "high detail standards" of the 25th anniversary figures?

3) The 'Galactic Heroes'-styled figures have spread to Marvel and, this summer, Transformers. Has there been any discussion on releasing a Joe-themed line in the GH style to compliment the 3.75" figures?

Name withheld.

1) will their be continuity in the story line?? (filecards, comics, Possible cartoon @loll@ ...no anime!!)

2) Will there be packaging art individual to that character or vehicle. Like the 80's products. ( Please say it's so )

3)Last is vehicles, will there be any?? If so, packageing them to where you have to build and put stickers on would be so GREAT!! with individual art as stated in question 2.

4)PLEASE MAKE VEHICLES!!!PLEASE MAKE VEHICLES!!!PLEASE MAKE VEHICLES!!

I also loved the little playsets ( Bivouac, Cobra Bunker, Etc. ) PLEASE make these a reality!!!

Has it been determined how far into the classic line that Hasbro will pick characters(82-86 as an example)? Will we see a straight re release of classic vehicles and small playsets? How about a new release of the classic Command Center and Skystriker?

Feel free to use my handle or real name(Neal Westmoreland).

Is it safe to say that with this new line Hasbro's main focus is to put the nostalgia from the 80's and 90's ARAH line back into GI Joe, and not "stray" too far? Can we then expect to see all figures and vehicles based on a particular toy from the past: name, look, color, etc.? Will this then include everything that the average collector associates with GI Joe: blueprints, file cards, toy inserts, mail aways, etc.

p.s. Thank You Hasbro for FINALLY agreeing to communicate with us!

Wow its nice to see Joe finally get a Q&A. Phooey on the Star Wars crowd having all the fun! :P

1) Will Hasbro create any more new characters for this line? Spy Troops and Valor/Venom gave us a lot of new ones like Scalpel, Hard Drive and several new troops, I'd love to see more.

2) Have you ever considered bringing the Adventure Team concept to 3-3/4", with existing RAH characters?

3) Any chance of the rest of the canned designs for Robot Rebellion ever seeing the light of day?

4) Do you have agressive advertising plans to give this new line the push it deserves?

5) Any chance of older repaints being used to pad the line until more new 25th figures can be made? I loves me some six-packs and comic packs!

6) How about some more $2 repaints for Dollar General and Family Dollar?

I know the smaller playsets have been mentioned but as a full playset question we can ask:

- Will we be able to see any of the original playsets like the terrordrome and the smaller playsets like the Cobra Bunker Battle Station be re-released in the 25th anniversary?

YOU MAY USE MY NAME:

Overall there seems to be a very postive response to the new style of action figure that Hasbro has displayed in this 25th Anniversary Line. Will we be seeing other toy lines in this scale with this level of articulation and sculpting? Personally I would love to see lines like Spider-Man, Marvel, and Star Wars done in this new style.

I don't really see the Sigma 6 figures staying on the shelves that long in my area(Chicago suburb), I've yet to find some favorites out there myself and had to resort to trading or buying online to find them. To me, going by what I see in the stores and reading the overall reaction on the boards of how much people like the newer "Sigma" figures, do you think we may finally see our 8" Scarlett or Baroness figures coming out sometime soon?

1. Can we (or will we) see any figures of characters like Big-Lob, Pythona, Dr biggles Jones, and any of the other cool female characters from the devil's due run of comics?

2. Will the wave 4 set of dtc figures ever be realeased, and how?

3. Any plans to have python patrol or tiger force make an appearance in the new 25th themed figures, or any of the other figures to come for 2008?

4. Will we ever get any female figures in the sigma 6 styled 8" joe figures?

5. since the 3.75" joes will continue through 2008, are there any vehicles in the works to be released in conjuntion with the next year's series of figures?

Questions...and feel free to use my screen name "Lance838"

1.) How about offering Marvel Legend 6" styled and highly detailed Joe and Cobra figures as mail-away exclusives by using "Battle Points" to reedem a figure(s)? These would go over extremely well... as did the Marvel Legends line by Toy Biz.

2.) I undertsand we want to stick to the 3 3/4" format but by offering 6" scale figures I think the reaction will be overwhelming! As a Joe collector/customizer I am always looking for something different to add to my ever expanding Joe/Cobra collection. Marvel Legends have been a hit for some time now...why not introduce Classic G. I. Joe in this scale?

Will we see Direct to Consumer Wave 4 (featuring LT Falcon, Outback, Airtight, Munitia, Cobra Officer, Night Viper) released or has the set been officially canceled? If it will not, is there a chance we could see these figures in something like a 6-pack set?
