There is an EU story that states that there 4 IG-88's. One was killed by Boba Fett above Tatooine, one was killed in Cloud City, and one was killed by Dash Rendar. The last one is still out there. The story is in the Tales of the Bounty Hunter's book.

The last one loaded his consciousness into the computer core of the second Deathstar before it was installed and was about to bring his systems online and cause a galaxy wide droid revolt when they blew it up. There is still IG-78 out there, who apparently looks the same but for slight movements of his optical sensors.

I wonder if that's how his head wound up as part of the Cantina in Mos Eisley?

YEA, I heard there were 5 all together and they went "solo" and killed thier creator. But I also heard only 1 (IG88) was involved with the bounty of Han Solo. I saw the one on the cloud city and I remembered a story that Boba had killed him off when they both arrived at Bespin. I saw the discoloration and thought it may have something to do with the flames being so close. I just though that one was THE IG88 that was killed off by Boba.
