death of the toon, good or bad?

Come on the Sunbow Joes had some really horrible crap episodes too... Cold Slither, The Great Alaskan Land Rush, Eau de Cobra, The Germ, Cobra Claws are Coming To Town, Once Apon A Joe,The Million-Dollar Medic, and Iceberg Goes South to name a few. Yeah, not all of the episodes are good, but I feel like most people on this site like to complain about anything and everything(but I guess that's why it's a forum, lol). Whether it's the Spy Troops movie, Valor vs Venom, GIJoe The Movie, DIC series, the comics and then the figures. It's GIJoe, be happy that we have it in any form! It truly sucked when there was nothing in any form of GIJoe for a couple years. I'm thankful we have some form of GIJoe to watch. Also Sigma 6 has been some what of a leaping board for my kids in getting into GIJoe, and now they like watching all of the different series of GIJoe. YO FATAL FLUFFIES!

All of those episodes you mentioned were still better acted then anything in Sigma Six and even though they were not the cream of the crop the characters were still written with depth, something that was non-existant with Sigma Six.

Cartoons for kids have always been, for kids. This is true arrow and i'm not disagreeing with that. The cartoons we have today there are some good ones and some bad one just like always. Joe however ended up on the bad end for several reasons. There is a real phenomenon with anime and it is mimicked often this results in several problems. Because many of the popular animes such as pokemon have had incredible shallow plots, more so than the usual cartoon, it seems they have lowered the standard. While Joe in the past had ridiculas situations like fatal fluffies they did not have such shallow characters as tunnel rat. The old joe held it's own in part by uniquness sigma six has tried to be more like pokemon w/ power stones or an international super team more so than the joe we know. It was a badly executed bad idea. It did however show vast improvement in story the 2nd season but that obviously wasn't enough. The new tmnt, while changing themes has been around for several years now, it can be done! Re dubs are easier to produce aswell and kids aren't even watching toons as much as they used to. Joe really needs to get relevant with some video games.

All this wasn't the point though. Does not haveing a toon mean less sales right off the bat? does it mean a new direction figure wise as sigma six subsides?

As much as i want to think it is a good thing and hasbro can focus on my prefered scale i fear overall it's a bad thing. Joe needs more exposure, i hope we can see a return to real fx 's movies vvv was a fairly decent toon and aside from spytroops beachead voice i found it entertaining aswell.

So Sigma 6 lasted as long as the original series. Of course, the two 'seasons' totalled only one of the original seasons. I ,for one, didn't mind the material too much. I especially thought the second season was much better than the first. I would have liked to have seen more. It wasn't great, and I'm really not even a fan of S6, but it was cool to have Joe on TV again. Even if it was a bit watered down.

The original series lasted longer than two seasons. You poor poor people just keep forgetting the DiC episodes. :)

I thought Dic's was a seperate series, honestly

I also agree they need to find new ways to promote them. I like the idea of video games too, unforunatly, can you market a army based video game to children without parents complaining that they're "too violent" or trying to "train children to be soldiers"?
