Well, this year's Toyfare was kind of a bust. Nothing new as far as Joe news (that I care about). No straight answer about DTC wv 4, and no figure list ofr the remaining 25th guys.....bleh.

Yeah I feel you.

A lot of this stuff was announced in previous press releases and such, even products from other companies were shown or revealed before Toy Fair.

A lot of people are saying that toy companies also hold out a lot for SDCC as well....maybe because they feel a little more connected with the actual consumer or whatever the reason is.

I also suppose there's also a whole brand of secrecy around some of these figures.Hasbro barely showed any of the TF:the Movie figures or anything....but I guess they feel they can show "just enough" to get the retailer reps interested to buy in and then at shows like SDCC they can show everything because they know the fans want to see more and are the TRUE buyers when it comes down to it.

I'd hate to add anything "negative" to this, but at least the pictures of the first 10 inspired some great debate, yes..no?

I wonder if they even have the other 15 ready to present to the public yet?

I'm sure they probably have a list of who the next 15 are, and they're probably in the works...but do they even have any finished product beyond what they've shown us?

I think maybe not, but I also suspect that they MIGHT just want to save up something for the convention time? Are they scheduled to release before that..I forget?

Yeah...This whole Toy Fair has been one big letdown for me. We didn't see, or even get a list, of the next 15. (Although the news about the prices, future vehicles, and single carded Tropper were welcomed) No new Marvel Legends shown, and no news about the future of Transfromers Classics. Everything I hoped to see or hoped to learn about were no shows.

Has Toy Fair ever not been one? Let's be honest. :) Two years ago we learned Joe was in Haitus, wasn't it?

Why would they announce anything new for Classics or Alternators or any "non-movie" TF line when the movie is the "star" right now? But I digress.

I wonder if they were so pissed about the leak they decided NOT to share anything new? They HAVE to have the other 15 ready. Aren't they scheduled to be out as early as the summer?

I am also disappointed in the fact that I evidently can't spell disappointed (see the title).

I was really hoping to see about at least a partial list or a hint. I didn't think they'd have actual figs ready, but the rest would have been nice.

I'm assuming that you guys were referring to the Trooper being available single carded, and if so I think it sucks that he's taking up a slot that could be used for someone else.

Sorry for being negative.

I think the marketing team at hasbro check these forums for what type of feedback their figures get.We complained so much about DTC wave 4 and they cancelled it.This time round they proberbly held back on making the other 15 untill they saw what we thought of the two 5-packs.Maybe they'll cancel these aswell and go for GI joe attacktics style figures

Not so much that I expected them to show anything or make a big announcement, but I did expect that at least someone...anyone would ask about those two lines and so far it looks like no one bothered. When the other 15 Joes weren't there...someone asked and got a answer, when Marvel Legends weren't shown someone asked and they were tolded they'd be shown at the NYCC. But when it comes to Classics and Alts....no one even asked about them. Which is odd considering "Will Classics contiune?" and "Are Alternators coming back?" are two the most frequent questions I've seen at the various boards I lurk at.

Alts have been on "hiatus" (that term annoys me bc toy companies use it to mean everything from actual hiatus to cancellation) for awhile now; classics, from what I hear, may return after the movie line, or even later, after Heroes.

I don't think Hasbro is going to hold too much for SDCC or the Con, considering the single packs are likely going to at least start hitting in June/July. They'll be on retail before convention time...

I think we'll start seeing more "reveals" shortly. For the past few years, Hasbro hasn't really knocked folks' socks off around Toy Fair time. It's been well publicized that they're not real big on the whole "Toy Fair" thing (remember a few years ago when they didn't even go? They held the collectors' showcase at their office instead).

Give it a few weeks, and I think we'll start seeing some cool stuff again.

Also, if this line is as much of a hit as it seems to be already, don't be real concerned about that 25 figure limit...if the collectors buy these up, the line will definitely keep on charging ahead, do not worry about that.

Well, that's an odd thing to be asking considering it's been well publicized since the summer that Classics was only ever meant to be a filler line between the end of Cybertron and the launch of the Movie line, and that if they did bring back that subline, it wouldnt be till 2008, because they have nothing in production. So what, exactly, could be asked today that would be different than that very specific, and very final answer?

And Alternators got the same response. Low sales also contributed to it's demise, and the fact that Takara is taking their version of the line into ad nasuem repaint territory, so Hasbro's cutting their losses at Rumble and Ravage II, and putting the line on hiatus (the same kind of "hiatus" that GIJoe went on in 2005).

When a company says hiatus, they mean "It's cancelled, now stay in denal about that fact while we move on with our lives."

It's the same thing with DTC Wave 4. It's clearly been canceled, and yet people on every GIJoe board are still asking for anwers... Toy Companies dont give straight answers to sensitive issues. Just like politicians won't use negative words or admit defeat on sensitive issues. If Hasbro won't give a straight answer, yes or no, assume the worst, and move on with your hobby.

Classics is canned. And with BotCon getting the molds for their exclusives his year, it's "Deth teh line" right there. Alternators is over. Either look toward the new, all-plastic KissPlay line, or start back-tracking for figures you've missed, cuz that's all you can be sure will ever exist. If either line comes back, it'll be a long, long shot, and no gambling man would bet on either of them.

DTC Wave 4 will never be released. DTC is dead. The 25th Anniversary figures have taken their place and their priority. Concentrate on helping make this new line a success, so we can get more and more new figures, and forget about the repaints.

You want straight answers... these are honestly the kind of cold, hard, reality pills we're all going to need to swallow on these subjects. Once Hasbro moves on, it's rare that they come back.

Hmmm.

Wasn't this said about DTC also? Didn't DTC prove that GIJoe collectors alone can't carry a line? Unless kids buy into this line, it won't last long.

and with distribution extending beyond Hasbro's own toy store and TRU, the liklihood of kids buying in is greatly improved. don't forget, the two largest toy sellers in the U.S. are Wal Mart and Target, not TRU and defintely not HTS. without your product on their shelves, sales will always be minimal.

I honestly think as the years go on we'll see less and less at Toy fair and I can actually see a future where there isn't a Toy Fair...

People have to remember, Toy Fair isn't a convention out there where tons of companies go to show their product to the masses.. it's for the companies to show their product to the stores and online retailers out there, so they know what's in store, they get a "hint" of what's coming and can order properly in the coming months/year...

The companies don't have to bring every single item they're releasing(although it'd be nice), they can just bring a select few and "pitch" about the up and coming waves that are to come..

The sad thing is the internet, where you can have everything here, now and right this instant, is a big reason for this, instead of spending thousands of dollars traveling to New York, you can get a lot of that info from a website or email...

Although I didn't expect all 25 figures to be there, I was at least expecting one carded sample to be shown, and I was a bit dumbfounded that didn't happen.

The one thing that pops in my head is I wonder if Hasbro is having trouble "selling" the 25th anv space to retailers? I wonder if they're still not sure if these'll be store exclusives, or just straight online or what, companies usually dont show online exclusives at Toy Fair either, cause you're "selling" to everyone, not just one store...

But anyway, like some have said, I'm sure in the next couple of months.. stuff will start to trickle.. which is fine with me.. I mean, with SW alone, I'm gonna be maxing out a couple credit cards worth of stuff, I wouldn't mind if there were only 25 Joes and that was it... :o but then, I feel sorry for those that just collect Joes, lol.
