Titanium 6 inch Line

Starman

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I was just wondering as a line, how would you rank the 6 inch Titaniums?

I think all of them had pretty good potential, but only around half of them had good or better execution.

So here is my ranking system, based on what we got, not on concept or execution.

The Good!!!

1. Rodimus - GREAT on all points!

2. Optimal Optimus - Maybe not the greatest character choice, but he does what he's suppossed to do

3. Scourge - A shellformer, but an awesome shellformer.

4. Thundercracker - Not a fan of the design , but it is a sturdy TF.

Maybe not so good...

5. Jetfire - Too loose and backheavy, good design though.

6. WW Prime - Great design, Loose joints and chipped paint make it a pain to deal with.

7. Soundwave - WHY?? I LOVE Soundwave, but super-crotch and bad legs kill this design.

8. Megatron - What version is this supposed to be? It isn't WW, cause were gettin that later. Bad design, bad execution.

Agree? Disagree?

Personally I really like them. Even with some of the flaws, I don't mess with them that much so looking nice is what mostly counts to me.

Here's how I rank the ones I have...

8. Megatron

7. WWI Prime

6. Scourge

5. Jetfire

4. Soundwave

3. OpOp

2. Thundercracker

1. Rodimus

When I get RID Prime, The Fallen, Ultra Magnus, and Cheetor there will be a big shake up in that top 5 I'm sure. I'm REALLY looking forward to these figs.

The nice thing is that the line seems to be getting better in every way as it goes on. I know a lot of people aren't crazy about Soundwave, and I was a bit worried at first, but I really do think he's better than people give him credit for....design flaws aside of course.

I picked up Scourge, and I think he's great next to the Classics. The robot mode is kind of weak, but I can forgive him, for being so close to the G1.The ratchety joints on his feet is a nice surprise!

Doess Thundercracker, as a figure, look good next to the other Classics jets?

I almost boughtt Op-Op. He looks great in robot mode, but he doesn't transform into much.

Overall, I'm not a big fan of this line but there are some G1/Classics-friendly gems in there.

I skipped titaniums until scourge came out. Bought him and loved him. I ended up back tracking and getting Prime -- who is not very good, but wasn't bad enough for me to return him or hate him. Got thundercracker, and he's great for thundercracker, but I don't think he looks like starscream at all so that repaint is lost on me. I love Rodimus, he's definitely the best and just a great figure all around. His waist is a little high up and would benefit from being able to push down, but this line has had problems with the little things like that since the beginning and they've done a great job with the later figures so I can't complain. In the end I'm digging the titanium line, 6" only, it's been like a seesaw though. Definitely a pick and choose line. I skipped Jetfire, OpOp, and a any of the others I didn't name.

Except Soundwave. He was given to me as a gift and I HATE him. He's worse than Prime/Megatron. He makes the 20+ year old original look like a masterpiece. I wouldn't have even bought him but like I said he was a gift. His legs pop out if you try to transform him or move him. He has a freaking diaper. He's the worst transformer I've bought in 10 years no joke (and I have guys like optimus minor).

Magnus looks okay, again he's got those minor problems that don't seem to show up in regular TF lines but plague this titanium line. Still he's a worthy buy as he's not a crappy white bleach of Prime. The rest of the upcoming stuff is meh. Repaints shouldn't be in a $15 line unless they make sense or look good.

Just a few words I'll add about my latest Titanium aquisitions...

Cheetor- Very nice! Rather simplistic, yet effective. He looks great in both modes and is very solid.

RID Prime- WOW! Probably the most complex figure in the line thus far. However for those enjoying the die cast might be disappointed in how much plastic is in this one...actually he's mostly plastic aside from the main body and a couple other small pieces. Looks great in both modes and DEFINITELY worth the price.

The Fallen- The only real issue I have his with his tank treads. The back part of the tread fold over on itself for bot mode, but in tank mode nothing holds the back treads in place so they kind of flop around. Doesn't really bother it that much for display though so it kinda doesn't bother me that much. Bot mode looks totally badass! Sure he may kinda resemble an old cast iron wood burning stove that was built into a robot but hey, he still looks cool!

For those on the fence, I think you'll like these 3. For those haters....well, you guys hate a lot so there's not much to say other than... :P :P :P
