Actually, if you re-read the thread carefully, you'll see that your assumption is incorrect. I haven't been "rubbed the wrong way". To the contrary, others have chosen to air their hurt feelings (based on my original posts, they had apparently been "rubbed the wrong way"), and their responses begged for replies...which they got...and which they didn't like. Too bad.

 

As I said before, I really could care less whether someone disagrees with me. I simply find all of the huffing and puffing to be highly amusing.

About wave 2 (we ARE still talking about wave 2 right?). I think those pictures ROCK and this wave is lookin' pretty sharp (Juggernaut-oh, yeah!). Emma's head's a LITTLE small. That's really the only complaint I have about anyting from Hasbro so far. The down side? I'm preparing to move out, and this action figure adiction REALLY needs to stop!

The Quicksilver, Jean Grey and Juggernaut are vast improvements from previous shots, particularly the Jean Grey. Thor, YellowJacket and Xorn all look just as good as ever. Jury is still out for me on the She-Hulk. I really do not like the smilely face look. The Wolverine is just down right aweful with that head sculpt. Looking forward to the Blob though.

And I don't put myself in either camp. I don't believe anyone can truly know if they are wise or not until they are near death and can look back on the full measure of their life. My point, which you seemed to have missed, was that you cannot possible know your level of wisdom, nor that of anyone else. To say you are wiser because you are older is, as you would say, a sanctimonious profundity. Not to mention completely lacking in any factual basis, since you have no way of knowing which members are older or younger than yourself. Likewise, I believe any thinking person would agree that claiming to have more wisdom than someone else based on a few lines of opinion is, at best, baseless arrogance.

 

Regarding the US Senate...you know, you're probably right. But I prefer our Senate to any limp-wristed, appeasing, socialist "Parliament" (such a funny word!) of Europe

yes,.... toybiz figures never looked as good as the protos... but that was rarely because the figure had been changed in both sculpt and paint apps..

 

I can't ever remember Toybiz changing the heads on an entire wave of figures in order to appeal to 3 year olds who might be afraid of serious faces.

 

And the paint they have put on their recent figures is horrible... or the lack of... Take Icons Thor, I loved the protoes, and thought he would be the best Icon yet... However, he has absolutely no paint on his skin and the shade they chose makes him look like he is dieing of lukemia.

No... we would have the same complaints if it was Toybiz... that being said, the complaints are voiced more harshly because Hasbro has a history of letting down its customers in recent years. Other than that, Thor looks to be a really good example of how good Hasbro COULD be for the line. A lick of paint here and there and he's perfect, which is no better or worse than MOST ToyBiz offerings.

All but 2 toy lines i buy are from hasbro. Star Wars, Transformers, GI Joes, and now Marvel Legends. I have no problems with Hasbro currently, I think they're doing a great job on all their lines, but 1. Marvel Legends. So there's no blind hate for the new company here, they're just doing a really crappy job. I have hopes that the sales figures will prove to them that they need to do better, because right now there's a ton of banshees, beasts, emmas, and a couple hulks clogging pegs with hercules and iron man selling decent. That plus there's like a thousand spider-man figures gone untouched. I'm very disappointed with how hasbro started out this series, still if this was toybiz and legends 16/17 I'd be equally pissed. These toys just don't look right, bad paint, bad articulation, weird hands, higher price point, no comic, small bafs even though they raised the price and switched to less plastic packaging.... and don't give me that bs that toybiz was going to do the same, you can't always believe everything Jesse says. He'll say whatever to get you to keep buying Legends, and many times when he says stuff like... "Yes both chase power man and chase psylocke are on their way and should be shipping at any time" well we know that wasn't true

 

Still I did buy a Hercules and I think he's a great figure. Well constructed and sculpted, except maybe the stupid grin, but I don't mind that as not all my figures need to be so serious... Excellent stability, these figures could be dropped off the roof of my house and survive, whereas most toybiz figures are already loose out of the package.

 

Still I wouldn't have traded great paint aps, a comic, and better facial/hand sculpting, and the extra arituclation we had for a more stable figure. Only a handful of toybiz figures gave me problems, the majority are great.

 

I really hate the hands though, if they wanted to lose the articulation well that's fine, but what's up with giant cave man hands on all the figures with the hands wide open like they're about to slap someone? Hercules hands are fine, he has something to hold (even though he still can't hold it!) so he has close gripped hands.

 

ML 1 with hasbro is like a 3/10 from me, 2 looks worse. Lets hope hasbro does something or it's their own money they're throwing away. That license must have been expensive to do such a crappy job...

if wave 1 was done quickly, and thats th reason it sucks... then why are they showing equally lackluster pics of wave 2? Will the final products actually be good, with good paint apps and the original head sculpts?

And I'm glad that they are trying to up the quality. I've been hopeful about that since day one. But that doesn't change that the pics we -currently- have are still just as bad as they were before, and just as bad as wave 1 looks. So, it's still apt to say they look sucky. Hopefully, as you say, the final product will be a lot better. I still am not interested in figures with the Sigma Six arms, but otherwise I'll be a lot more interested in Hasbro's ML once they have better paint apps.

 

Unfortunately, I probably won't care overmuch either way until maybe wave 3. Wave 2 doesn't have any figures I need except for Blob. Besides fodder that is, but when you're buying a figure for the fodder, you don't tend to care much what the paint looks like.

Hasbro killed GI Joe for me about four years ago, but from what I can tell so far, they've totally redeemed themselves with the 25th Anniversary Joe's...and I give them alot of credit for that...so I'm not bitterly biased towards them.

 

However, their ML's have sucked so far. The two figures I wanted the most from wave 1 were Banshee and Emma...I bought them, and hated them both, so I didn't buy any other figures from that wave. So far, the only figures I really want from wave 2 are Quicksilver and She-Hulk, so I will buy them, but if they are as bad as Banshee and Emma, I won't be buying the rest of the wave to get a Blob (whom I also want to fill in my collection). I took this same approach with Toybiz's ML's, and somehow, I always ended up buying almost every figure in every wave, just because they always looked so dang cool...wish I could say the same for Hasbro.

I don't see how it's narrow-sighted or harsh. They took over the rights to Marvel in 2007, and as soon as the new calendar year turned over, Hasbro's Marvel merchandise was clogging store shelves. Actually, they revealed enough merchandise the second half of 2006 to keep store shelves clogged for the entire year of 2007. They're cutting corners on paint-apps, articulation, and overall design...similiar to what Toybiz did with the last few waves of ML. Why? Because both companies are trying to make fast cash...Toybiz, because they knew they were loosing the franchise, and wanted to get as much out of it as they could before it ended, and Hasbro, because that's what they have done best for the last couple of decades. The only problem is, the corner-cutting was WAY more apparent in Hasbro's first wave of ML's than it was Toybiz's last few waves.

 

I really don't see how anyone can look at figures like Banshee and Emma, and think they're even on par with what we've received from Toybiz in the past. Have any of you, who are so quick to defend Hasbro, even posed them next to figures like Series 6 Wolvie, Nightcrawler, Storm, etc? They don't even look like the same friggin toyline, save the similar articulation. They look like cheap knock-offs.

 

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that Hasbro will come through, and like I said, I'll pick up some figures I've been waiting for for along time, such as Quicksilver and She-Hulk...but if they aren't improving, I won't be spending money on entire waves like I did with Toybiz.

 

So, if "getting over myself" involves pumping all of my toy funds into a line that is crap, I'll guess I'll just settle with being stuck on myself, and continue sinking my cash into my vintage RAH GI Joe collection.
