major concern number one;

these obviously look to be based off of the original arah designs, at least at this point...

if we do get a serpentor, that may very well mean it wont be the devil's due version.

 

that might tick me off a little, as well as a few other people. and by few, i mean a crapload.

 

 

Id rather have the original redone in this style. The devil due is nice, but I like the original design a bit more.

Bandolier is removable, and there's a functional holster on the right hip--but no strap going around the leg. I prefer small details like that to be addressed.

 

 

I noticed that too. "Super detailed" and he has a magic holster stuck to his leg? #WTF#

Actually....I'm thinking it's the same point on the arm as Storm Shadow, and at the forearm, where the sleeves are rolled up, and I still don't like this, with preference being for a swivel wrist instead.

 

He does have the ankle joints though.

No ankle joints, but MAYBE the swivel at the top of the boots. Another feature I don't care for. I definitely don't see ankle joints on him though.

 

It looks like the same forearm swivel as Storm Shadow, hidden by the sleeve, to me as well.

 

As for the ankle one, if he DOES have the rotating boot, I can't see that it hurts. I didn't see Storm Shadow as having any ankle articulation either. And I'm glad they didn't give him that hinged ankle like the Night Creepers.

as if the O-ring figs sat perfectly?, or could kneel with out having the foot

point straight down?, seriously posing of the older figures is tougher then anything else.

especially with Any gear on, or outfit accesories. Some couldnt even sit in a damn vehicle.

Why can't Hasbro release images of these things like every other action figure making company finds the time to do with theirs? They want to be like everyone else, then be like everyone else and give us some BETTER shots of these things and help alleviate the questions & doubts with one glance.

 

While I don't like ALL the articulation on these microman figures, they do a nice job of displaying them, like here...

 

 

 

I don't see any waist articulation on the new Joes, except for a side to side swivel.

 

Do you have a pic of that microman guy SITTING normally? Part of the problem is that, with BOTH figures, we've seen the torso "covered" by sashes and bandoleers and weapons. Thus, we can't get a clear representation of the torso's articulation.

I want Duke more so then Storm Shadow because that so far is the perfect Duke IMO(maybe needa to see beter pics of his head sculpt with out the helmet to be sure)

 

And i'm hopeing for just a normal waist swivle like MLs have.

 

Always been more of a Duke fan then Storm Shadow so thats prolly why i like the looks of his figure better so far.

The hands ARE designed to hold the guns more "correctly" (on Storm Shadow they look weird)...but WHY isn't he holding the gun correctly? It looks stupid.

 

The magic holster, as pointed out already. I wonder if it is removable.

 

Look at Storm Shadow's gear compared to Duke's gear. Hell SS's sword is THREE different colors alone. I guess it is just my relative unfamiliarity with military hardware, but I'd think that rifle would have SOME kind of other colors, wouldn't it? (Can someone tell me....) Maybe the pistol does.

 

The waist is easier to see than Storm Shadow's pic. My first thought was that Duke resembles a Power Team figure (but, of course, MUCH better looking). I make that comparison because Power Team figures have a simlar waist construction and can actually SIT properly. These two are a bit iffy, but I can see the possibility.

 

It almost doesn't even look like he can rotate at the waist (like the whole thing is one solid piece)!

Okay, the main complaint is that goofy gun!! What's up, why is it so big?? Also, why can't he have either his classic gun that he came with, or that famous gun that everyone used on the show!!

 

Other than that, very nice update! I see he still has somewhat of a grin. I know I hated that smile from the original one, he was always the first to die because of it!!

 

Oh and who said they want the Devil's Due version of Serpentor! Sorry sport, this is the 25th Anniversary, not the craptacular DD line! This line is for those that were there to collect the original line, this is for us long time fans!! The ones that grew up with GI JOE!!

I'll be the first to agree, these new guys are looking GREAT so far, I plan on buying, but they'll NEVER replace vintage Joe.

 

I have a feeling this whole line is going to turn out to be like what they did with Masters of the Universe a few years back. Keeping the exact look and uniform details of the first-issue figures only with a souped up sculpt. So far so good.

Exactly, which brings up another point. Storm Shadow is pretty "version 1 accurate" in the gear department. Why not Duke? Sure, the gun maybe different, but why NOT a backpack and binoculars?

I don't have any complaints about this one. He is virtually perfect. And for some reason, this particular figure sample satisfies the arguments I had with Stormie. There's no "weathered" look to it, and the gaps for articulation are not that visible. Perfect! The only thing that I could nickpick about is that face isn't exactly Duke like JayC mentioned. It's pretty close though. I will live with it, no question.

That's because the figure is likely a resin prototype and not the actual production figure.

The resin doesn't have the give that the softer vinyl plastic will have, so placing the rifle's butt tucked under his arm would likely stress and break off the thumb. The production figure shouldn't have that problem from what I'd guess.

Well, I like this Duke. I just wish the gun was out of the way and there was also a pic without the helmet. Yet, from what I can see, I am pleased. Storm Shadow looked great though. From what I've seen so far, I'm really looking forward to this line.

Well I don't like it as much as SS. That removeable bandloier looks huge and bulky, I'd have rather had it sculpted on. Maybe the production one will sit on there better. Also I don't really like the gun. I wish they would have used the same gun that game with the V1 Duke, or the Snow Job gun that was shown on the card art. The head looks a little small, but that might be the helmet making it look that way. And where are the binoculars and backpack?

 

I know I make it sound like I hate it, but I don't. It's a really great looking Duke. Best one since....well a long time. Before JVC that's for sure. Even with my compliants I'm willing to drop the cash easy on it. And the missing holster strap doesn't bug me since that's how it looks on the card art...course the actual V1 figure does have the strap, but it's not that big of a deal for me.

I do agree, I think that we are better off waiting for hopefully another DD comic pack with the iupdated Serpentor, I hope that we get a V1 Serpentor like the Duke and SS we have seen this far. WOW, great figures thus far, I cannot wait until tomorrow.

Looks great but there a two things I'm worried about.

Firstly will the quality be like the flimsy marvel showdown figs?

Second I fear the average height of these figs look to be close as the showdown Punisher hence won't blend in with other joes.

If they are that tall then I'm hoping to get figs like Destro, Roadblock and Gung Ho.

Duke looks good in my book. My only question is the strap across his chest, and what his hair looks like under that helmet. Otherwise, like with Storm Shadow, I'm impressed.
