Harrison Ford turned down a $47 million pay day to make a new spin-off 'Star Wars' movie.

Hollywood legend Ford, 64, snubbed director George Lucas' big bucks offer in favour of playing heroic archaeologist Indiana Jones again.

However, Lucas wasn't too disappointed with Ford's decision as he was already developing an idea for a fourth Indiana Jones movie with Steven Spielberg.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "George wanted Harrison to play Indy but cleverly sounded him out about playing Hans Solo instead.

"Harrison was horrified. After that he was delighted to be playing Indy again. He told George he just couldn't face being stuck in a spaceship with Chewbacca again."

Ford will earn $47 million for donning his famous fedora hat once again and embarking on a final adventure as the whip-cracking adventurer.

Ford and Lucas announced they were making a fourth 'Indiana Jones' film earlier this month.

The movie, produced by Lucas and directed by Spielberg, is due to be released in 2008, 19 years after Ford last appeared as thrill-seeking Indy in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'.

I always wanted Lucas to redo all the STAR WARS Movies with new actors and a modern look like the prequel triology. It was gonna happen sooner or later, it would be cool to see different color Stromtroopers in of the all white troopers and imagine a juggernaut vehicle on Hoth along with the Walkers very cool.

Oh yeah, so much better than the original.

Yeah, whatever chief. Its just an opinion, he will end up doing it anyway so all the fanboys can go see it and keep the marketing monster that is STAR WARS going for a 100+ years.

It's a terrible idea. When he tried "revamping" the originals he pretty much ruined them. Besides, even Lucas probably realizes that remaking the originals would be a complete waste of time, as they'd never be any better or have the impact of the first ones. If anything, he'll do more prequels (he has indicated that these would be a possibility, set a long time before the current prequels) or sequels to the original trilogy. What we do know is that the upcoming television series will keep him busy for the time being.

If they were redone, it'll be a long, long time from now, at least 20 years, probably after Lucas dies or loses the rights somehow, and truthfully, if Lucas wasn't involved, it'd probably be even worse. Remakes never have the impact of the originals. Star Wars as some sort of "marketing monster" for over a century is far-fetched, to say the least.

yeah and they will suck just like episode 1-3. phantom menace is really god aweful. give me rotj over that crap anyday.

Well... who knows. At least the chemistry would work a lot better, if they had the same actors. Someone like Harrison wouldn't take any crap either - if Lucas tried to pull another Jar-Jar on 'em, he'd probably tell him outright that it's a stupid idea.

Not only that, the guy knows how to act. Same can't be said for some of those involved with the Prequels.

That's a stretch... You can really only say that about Hayden. Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and Samuel L. Jackson are all very well respected actors. The problems with the sequels go much deeper than the acting.

I'm sure it was just George talking to Harry(lol, I wonder if his friends and fam call him that.. "Harry, can you stop and get some eggs and milk please?" )... im sure he was taling to him about the new Indy movie(that has been in the works for.. what 5 years) and he probably just threw out something like "How about another 47 mil for a Han Solo movie?"

In my opinion, if you watch all the SW movies, tey all have bad acting and cheesy dialog... we just connect more with the older ones cause we grew up with them and crap like that.
