Welcome to doing business with Hasbro. Fans of GiJoe (especially) and Star Wars have been dealing Hasbro's inconsistencies and illogical decisions for years. It's just too bad that they have gotten their hands on Marvel and their characters.

Has anyone ever stopped to think that the comic was dropped for a reason other than what some of you want to say??? Like say, they would have had to pay Marvel more money to use them! Meaning raising the price of ML more! No thanks, I can do with out the comic.

I never really cared for the comic inclusion in Marvel Legends but I felt it was an important thing to do. Getting comics into the hands of children is vital if the industry is to survive.

EXACTLY. I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a kid in a comic book store uless he was there with his dad who was buying comics for himself.

I also noticed that Hasbro has just released Star Wars 2-packs THAT COME WITH REPRINTS OF THE OLD MARVEL STAR WARS COMICS. Again, WTF?

Same here....and it's sad. I don't even buy new comics anymore, but I do buy hardcovers like DC Archives (a VERY expensive line to collect) which supports the industry. It makes me wonder if comics will even be around in 70 years.

Oh I agree it was a great tool for trying to hook kids, but lets be honest most ML buyers are adults. As far as the SW comic packs, that is a seperate line and don't kid yourself, Lucas I believe has the rights to those like Hasbro does the GI Joe ones, not Marvel!

I wouldnt take a kid in most comic book stores Ive been in, even I think they are pretty creepy sometimes, I always feel like someone is looking over my shoulder. Besides that, comics are like $3 a peice, and the stories are so dependent on backstory most adult readers cant keep track of whats going on. And the ultimate line which was started to get kids reading is almost as bad. What gets new readers is the movies, if anything.

...Oh, and isnt there enough Hasbro Legends bashing threads? @smilepunch@

As is, the increased price is a result of Hasbro paying a license to Marvel to do the line to begin with! Even then, the average ML offering is STILL more articulated, more diverse, and will likely be more available than Mattel's DC Superheroes line (which last I knew was dropping comics also)

Better than Mattel, a quick look at their DC offerings will pretty much tell you they'd do ten times worse than anything Hasbro is doing

Mattel's figures are 10 times worse, I didn't know that had been scientifically proven, but if Stevy Maximus says it it must be so.

sure, but the average DCSH figure is likely to be a hell of a lot better sculpted

heres what pisses me off about this, they make the packages smaller, give us less accesories, give us WAY smaller BaF, take away the comics...and yet still increase the price #WTF#

Agreed.

Look at it from a marketing standpoint.

Fabric-dressed figures in the "Mego" format tend to be aimed more at collectors in the casual consumer's and retailers mind. Adding in the comics creates a perception the product is aimed at a more general consume as opposed to a niche one.

Marvel Legends itself is likely NOT getting the comics because the brand has been around for long enough, and looks like alot of other cast-plastic toys that consumers will buy them anyway.

Strikes me as being all about placment and subliminal perceptions of value with different products.
