Never buy something you hate. I look for three major points when buying a TF:

1. Vehicle Mode - it has to look good, feel sturdy, and so on.

2. Robot Mode - it must have good articulation , and again, sturdy build

3. Transformation - I should be able to transform back and forth without having to consult the manual, and most importantly, transforming should be FUN.

Most of the alternators are a real pain to transform. It's more of a chore than fun. However, some Titaniums like Scourge are fun to transform and look good. I'm thinking of getting the classics Jetfire, it just looks perfect.

I like both alts and the kid stuff. I like alts a bit more, there's more time and quality put into each of them since it's a small line. For CR the car bros had chrome and rubber wheels, because half the line was reissues they could focus on the few new figures. With Armada through Cybertron there's just too much that it's a bit watered down. I was able to master Sideburn when I first got him, though I used the instructions I can now transform him in my mind through memory. The car brothers were my introduction into hard transformers, and after using the instructions on the first few alts, I haven't used them since. I transformed alt prime in my car while driving. I didn't really even look at the guy while transforming him, and definitely didn't use instructions or I'd be dead right now. He was simple compared to guys like alt wheeljack, but if you take the time it's not that hard to do, and after doing a few it doesn't take more than 10 minutes tops. I transformed Prime in 5 minutes, though his chest didn't fit perfectly until I got home and was able to look at him and notice something was wrong. Still this has to be some sort of record...

Nicely put. I also think the Titaniums should be a bit more sturdy. Scourge is the best hands down. Also you HAVE to get Jetfire he is amazing.

I only have 3 alts (smokescreen, sideswipe and battle ravage) I like them, granted they stay in vehicle mode 99% of the time and I let my daughter play with them. But the only one that gives my any real trouble to tf is Smokesreen, those arms sure do like to fall off. Other than that I like the complexcity, same with 20th anv Prime and MP-03 Starscream.
