GI Joe Toy Sightings

Saw the strangest thing today. Stopped by TRU so see if they had anything, which of course they didn't. But they put out a whole case of Pursuit of Cobra wave 3 (which came out in 2011 and consisted of Jungle BAT, Cobra Commander, Hawk and Blowtorch). Guess someone found a case laying around in the back. If it would have been wave 4 I would have jumped on it, but found all of wave 3 when it came out.

 

Yeah, I found these at my TRU as well.

I'm glad we have this here, but honestly, given the current state of GI Joe, were not likely to have much in the way of "new" sightings. Can we change the thread title to "finds" or maybe "finds & sightings" (or maybe just have a separate thread), which would encourage us to share new purchases of older stuff? For a lot of us that's going to be all we have for a while...

I went to Dollar General after going to Urgent Care for an emergency and found some older figures re-released (Probably as a Dollar General Exclusive) I have no clue how old this wave is but know they did restock recently as the last time I was there they only had a cobra trooper and shipwreck and this time they had Cobra Commander, Duke, and Snake Eyes, now I just need Storm Shadow. I am slowly restarting my GIJOE collection, too bad TRU never has much of their exclusive wave.

Soooo....this is a non-sighting/sighting of sorts....my gf goes 2x a year for training back east...on the off hours when she wasn't studying she liked to peruse the clearance aisles & unwind from the day....a shopper in a strange shopper-land....she's been going to the company training for 4 years now....that's 8 visits, she's never gotten lucky finding much whether it was Joes, Star Wars or Marvel....there's a Target, ToysRus, even an drugstore like Walgreens that sells toys....but in 4 years nothing for toys.....Okay I know you've been there..you're going away on a trip, vacation, business, whathaveyou......get on GoogleMaps & check out the area for places to eat, see & hunt....even better when your surrounded by a cluster of Ross's/Targets/TRU's....maybe a mom & pop comic book place or toy shop....everything is looking good & you can feel that anticipation.....you got a few days to hunt annnnnnnd just come up w/nothing or nothing that you don't have already....the whole scene is dry or just as plain as home.....it's one of the collectors laments....there are so many...okay my lady brought me back some cookies from her trip....in a plastic container w/the label that read..........."5 below".....( I felt like Agent Kujan in Usual Suspects upon discovery).... 5 Below?.......5 Below?.....Rosebud........Soap Poisoning.......anewayys "5 below" was the store that had that massive missing Joe wave sale....people were building armies of Night Vipers & other figs from that wave.....while I did get damn lucky on a rare sale here....I still whisper..... "5 below"........I asked my lady how long had she been going to that store & did she know they had awesome toys for cheap there?....She had been frequenting that store since she started training & No didn't know they sold toys...I only ever just bought food from the front of the store....never even considered looking around.......sometimes it's like I don't even know who she is.........still love her though Yo Joe.....

Was at TJ Max last night and they had some of the 50th two packs for $12.99. I only saw Snow Job/Artic BAT and Lady Jaye/Baroness. Not sure if they are showwing up anywhere else.

The New 50th 2 packs are out. They had one Peg w/8 packs on it....One Gung-Ho set which I bought w/my reward buxx! Yeahyuuuuhh! so I paid $10.72 for mines.....the Croc-master repaint looks hideous....that's the new pegwarmer set of the year....Cobra Commander wasn't that thrilling either.....I wanted to get an Steel Brigade vs. Destro's Dudes but for now The Gung-Ho Set is all I really wanted from these "new" offerings...my TRU wasn't give Joe much love either....only 2 pegs in the whole store for joes?...One peg was full up of Lady J vs Baroness....the other peg had 1x Gungho/Dark Crimson 2x CrocMaster vs BBQ 2x Steel Brigade Vs Destro's Dude 2xCobra Commander Vs Shipwreck & 1X Spirit vs Stormy.....the other Repaint Battlepacks I.E. Skystriker & the other Repainted Snowcat were on an end cap, which was a good distance away from the peg joes.....

Hey Hey, went to Ross & spotted these beauties...I just don't have the room or extra scratch for these....great vehicle for the little Joes & Cobras in your life..I kinda wish I woulda bought one & painted it in Cobra Colors....I believe these were $1 6....I saw these on Friday afternoon

Has anybody seen the new Joes (2016) at their local Toys R Us ? There have been some reports about the sets being out already, but I haven't seen any in the wild.

Saw the two packs at my local TRU this weekend, so I picked up the two with new figures and left the other three since I already had all of those figures. Was hoping for the three packs, just to see how the female Cobra Trooper and Shooter looked. The only bad things is that with these bought I'm back to buying nothing until next year it would seem.

I was out Garage-saleing over the weekend & didn't come up w/anything toy related...been pretty busy w/life lately...I was able to wander in the TRU that I used to work at a few years ago.....They actually had Joes on the pegs...They must have just reloaded the shelves cause there was 3 packs & 2 packs galore....meaning they had 3 pegs dedicated to them....they had 3 of the "shadow packs & 3 of the Cobra Legion sets......I snagged up an Legion set so I have my "lady" trooper to flank The Baroness....I probably should have bought one more but I was low on fundage....maybe next time....they had plenty of the 2 pack Cobra Troop builders & Zombie packs...a couple of the Snake Eyes Vs Stormy....Heavy Duty & Duke 2 packs as well....I was amazed to see them out.....the only disturbing thing I noticed was the store was packed w/Xmas shoppers already...I mean packed....not a kid in there was asking for Joes.....no Cartoon or Movie to support them so I guess they are truly relics at this point

I guess it's time for me to start hitting TRU again. I've thought about going a couple of times in the past few weeks but always concluded that there would be nothing there that I really need. I forgot about those new Joes. Even though there's very few that will interest me, I'm strangely excited to see some in the wild!

My TRU had a couple in stock; the she-Cobra 3 pack, the Shooter 3 pack, and the SE/SS 2 pack.

 

I only bought the she-Cobra 3 pack for now. I just couldn't get past the bland, all-black color scheme for the other 3 pack. But then I thought about it and I really wouldn't mind doing some custom painting on those to make them pop. I'm picturing Shooter with the same green color scheme as the original Joes....

 

No one else on the pegs as of yet.

I have the same feeling with Shooter, I will most likely repaint her, or use the Olive Green Marauder Valkyrie for her(tons more detail too).

Got a hot tip from FB....I confirmed & spotted at least one Joe Kre-O set at Dollar General. They have the Cutter/ThunderWave set in a wayyyy smaller box....I couldn't tell if it has less stuff....it was $12 buxx....they had D&D & Tranformers sets too...not many to choose from but I spotted that one set for Joes....check it out..

I stopped by there over the weekend...not a darn Joe in sight....nadda a damn thing...not good IMO....I have a $20 buxx in coupons burning a whole in my empty pockets.....I was hoping to pick up the Zombie 2 pack but that didn't happen....bummer
