Bad news for Canadian shops that get stock from Grand

I didn't wanna break this news until it was confirmed to me by Grand which is the Canadian distributor for ToyBiz products but,...unfortunately, I've received confirmation today. This is the first place I'm mentioning it, we are working on an e-mail to forward to all those of you who pre-ordered from us. You should receive that e-mail in the next few days and we will be taking the products involved off of our website in the coming days. From what I was told, the following products are NOT coming:

Marvel Legends Young Avengers Box Set re-stock

Marvel Legends Monsters Box Set re-stock

Marvel Legends House of M Box Set

Marvel Legends 14

Marvel Legends 15

Spider-Man 18 and up

Spider-Man Rotocast and up

Marvel Legends Icons 3

Marvel Legends Showdown 4

X-Men 3

Marvel Legends Face Off 2

Fantastic 4 Animated

Marvel Legends Masterworks 2

From what I heard, these were cancelled by ToyBiz Worldwide for the International market (Canada, Australia, UK, etc..). If I understood correctly what I was told is that SOME of these products have and will be available to the U.S. market, but the production for the international market would've made the items available to us only to depart from the orient around mid-november. For those of you not familiar with this, it means that the products would arrive at the country's distributors (such as Grand) around 4 weeks later (mid-december). And according to the new Hasbro deal, those distributors are to stop shipping Marvel stuff dec.31st leaving very little time to get rid of all these products so they went ahead and cancelled this because any overstock left from Marvel can be bought off by Hasbro at a very small fraction of the price since their contract states that they could start distributing Jan.1st.

Now all this is what I was told, it is NOT me speculating. If I'm incorrect, then someone correct me. Maybe we should ask Jesse if what i was told is right. Although I did ask him in another thread and he mentioned he didn't know anything about this. I had heard this rumor about a week ago, but couln't and wouldn't believe it until I had some sort of confirmation abd I didn't wanna make people panic for nothing.

What burns my @$$ is why would this happen??? I mean, Spidey 18, X-Men 3 & ML14 have been in the U.S. for a little while so there was a production run, why do us, the international, market get the shaft like this!!!! I can't get it through my head!!!! We work very hard to please our customers as best we can, and now all you guys who relied on us to get these will be let down. I sincerely hope that you guys won't hold it against us for the future as this is absolutely not our fault. I don't know what happened for us to get screwed like this. But somewhere in my head, I knew something bad would come out of the whole Marvel/Hasbro deal. I guess that was it.

Anyway, I could rant for hours on the subject, but what would it change. I hope you guys will be able to secure everything you need and if in the process you come across extras, and feel like helping out a fellow canadian collector (me), I'd be greatful as I am a collector and was one before I became a retailer. I just feel really crappy and mostly pissed about this whole issue right now that I will end this post here before I start ranting about the big H...

Again our apologies to those who pre-ordered and an e-mail is coming your way shortly (most likely tomorrow)!

-Steve

According to this, even the USA will not see ALL of the items listed above. I really hope there's been a mistake or misinterpretation on this.............alot of collectors had voiced curiousity about how MUCH product was coming out immediately prior to Hasbro taking over the stuff.

Its sounds like an awful lots of product not seeing the light of day, or seeing such small amounts that there's gotta be losses involved.

My guess is that there's more to this........but let's all keep our fingers crossed.

Insert every obscene word or phrase ever used in any language right here.

I guess my "avoid shipping costs and huge prices online by waiting a few months for stuff to hit stores" plan just aint gonna work now.

It sucks for me since I pre-ordered a case of ML15 and now I'm gonna have to wait to get my MO back and then idk what to do, buy from a US site or find them in stores.

Well, other confirmations are popping up elsewhere--this just......doesn't make a lot of sense.

I think I'm gonna go kick a puppy.

( no, not really--just going to have to do things the "hard" way now)

Keep in mind that some online canadian retailers (like the outer reaches) also order from the US Diamond, so if you placed an order chances are you may still receive it.

I really wanted Face Off 2 :(

Me too!!! I want the Mandarin... :(

It's true coz the local distributor here in New Zealand had confirmed 2 weeks ago that we are not getting any Toy Biz Marvel products after the Giant Man Series. Not even ML Icons Series 1.

We are forced to order from overseas.

This sucks!!

The majority of stores I frequent are all customers of Grand, and the others that buy direct from Diamond are usually more expensive than them. I hate to think that the once easy to find ML's from Toy Biz are going to be incredibly hard to find from now till when Hasbro takes over.

I hope this news changes, I really don't want to resort to eBay, for the missing figs I can't get locally.

Hell, I still dont have Face Off 1...that reminds me, is X-men series 2 still supposed to hit (or has it somewhere already)?

I got my Face-Offs from Ages Three and Up a while ago. Not sure if they are still stocking any at this date. There's bound to be a few places in the Vancouver area that still have them and can mail order to you.

Well that sucks.

I feel bad for those of you that collect ML.

I really only want Shocker from wave 18 of the Spider-man line so getting 1 figure shipped to me won't cost too much (even from eBay), but that's a real kick to the balls to those who wanted a lot of stuff that was to come. :(

i bet they arent being released bcause hasbro will now be in charge and all those items will/are going to be resolicited under their(hasbro) banner. i cant imagine them not releasing something that has already been tooled and made.

so this is basically a reprise of Fantastic Four movie series 5 and comic series 2? if i'm reading that right, when he says "what I was told is that SOME of these products have and will be available to the U.S. market" it seems like it'll be in very limited quantity and/or only in specific locations that aren't normal retail

which sucks.

CornerStoreComics has ML 14 $57 for the set of 6 plus shipping...best price yet...and i bought a case of ML 15 for $103

Ooooo, thanks for the info....just preordered myself a case of ML14, with shipping it works out to about $12.25 CAD each...thats cheaper than they would cost me at retail.

Now hopefully they get enough to fill my order.

You know that Hasbro is buying the whole operation, right? There's no reason why Hasbro can't keep shipping ML 14 & 15 etc. along with their new stuff in the Spring. We could still restocks of everything for months to come. If they can do it and they can make money from doing it, why wouldn't they?

Well, they've redesigned the packaging, dropped the comics and raised the price. I don't see them being able to just keep putting out ML14 and 15 as is. And why do that when they can just send retailers more of their own ML waves.
