Is Sideshow afraid to make armored figures?

I've become a big 12-inch figure collector lately,getting into Medicom,Hot Toys and Sideshow's products.

I've taken a notice that Sideshow has not made any FULLY-ARMORED figures.I'm not only talking about Star Wars but a lot of other licenses they have as well. Most,if not all, of their figures are primarily cloth-only (excluding molded pieces like belt buckles,etc.).Have they not made many armored figures because of cost reasons?Do they want to stay close to that $50 USD price range?

I say this because I know a lot of people are clamoring for Sideshow to make Boba Fett,Darth Vader,Stormtroopers, etc.,but Sideshow seems to stick to figures that have more cloth on them than anything. No doubt a Boba Fett figure would be higher in price due to the armor, but I'm sure fan demand would definitely support them making this figure.

What's keeping Sideshow from making that leap to make figures that have more body armor?

So far, SS has kept to the main characters that sell but do not reach everyone.

I know, I know they are the main characters, but asside from Darth Maul, the figures so far have been pretty much main characters that sell, but do not sell super well.

Vader, Boba, Jango, Clones and Stormtroopers sell more than all of the others combined. I think they may be saving them for the low points in the line to revitalize it.

I'm not really asking what will sell or not, there's no doubt that Fett,Vader, etc. would sell very well.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts, opinions, insider knowledge, etc. on why Sideshow shys away from constructing "armored" characters.

If you notice,a huge pattern is that Sideshow's Star Wars (and other licenses) figures are basically a head mold on a standard-buck body and a cloth outfit with some accessories tossed in that are also molded.Sideshow has not made a completely armored 12-inch figure a la a Stormtrooper.

I mean, how many people want constant Jedi like Plo Koon over Boba Fett or Darth Vader?Isn't it about time Sideshow kicks it up a notch and goes for an uber-popular character like Fett?

I think because of the cost they wanted to wait to see if the line took off before they started making armored figures. There probally coming Stormstroopers at least. They just announced there armies of star wars line. With rebel endor troopers being first so Stormies or Clones can't be far behind.

I think its because sideshow has no experience in making armor figures and arent maybe reluctant or afraid to make them at this point in time, or they are taking their time.

As said on another board: if a company that gets a star wars license is not ready or committed to make armor figures, they don't deserve the license

They'll be released in time I think... but yeah, they need to spread out the heavy weights like someone mentioned. I think that makes a lot of sense.

Maybe Medicom has the current license to product 'armor' charaters...If you look at the RAH line from Medicom...All but the Luke and Yoda have armor...Medicom has ROTS/ROTJ Vader, Stormtrooper...Coming soon ROTS Clone Trooper, Fett and Blackhole Trooper...

Who really know why...Its just a waiting game...Im sure that SS will bombard us in 2007 with Armor troops...

But I really dont care...I love pretty much everything they have release so far...Well excpet Han's big head and Luke 'oh face' expression...I can wait to see Snow Bunny Padme and Asajj Ventress...I just hope to get a Dooku, Palppy and X-Wing Pilots soon...

Sideshow does make figures with Armor...just not Star Wars figures at the moment. Check out the Robocop they made:

It is not out of thier reach so I am waiting for the debut of something :)

That is actually the HOT TOYS Robocop figure...by the same Hong Kong-based company that has produced the terrific Colonial Marines and Predator figures.Sideshow just distributes some of their imported figures and it seems has also worked out a deal with them to produce some exclusive for sale on the Sideshow website. Other than just selling them,Sideshow is not involved in the production of Hot Toys' figures.
