FYE DVD Exclusive

Posted by Curto on September 2, 2006 at 12:01 PM CST:

Another DVD exclusive? Rebelscum reader Mike Troxell writes in:

I was just visiting my local FYE store and they had a sign for an exclusive gift. When you buy all three classic Star Wars DVDs, you receive a pack of seven exclusive Topps trading cards. Three cards are shown on the sign--one each in the styles of the classic Topps series for Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.

Circuit City DVD Exclusives

Posted by Curto on September 2, 2006 at 11:41 AM CST:

Circuit City is giving away a set of really nice prints of vintage poster art in a nice folder presentation

with related graphics on the folder. The prints come out of the folders, but the folders themselves are nice, too, even the backs have really sharp artwork.

Best Buy Star Wars DVD Tin Set

Posted by Curto on August 31, 2006 at 08:57 AM CST:

It looks like there's going to be another Star Wars DVD exclusive...this time from Best Buy. Rebelscum reader Michael Feeney alerts us to a "Star Wars Set W/Tin - DVD" item at Best Buy's website. Price is $89.99. Click on the thumbnail above for all the info.

I'm sure all the other major retail chains will have their own promotions and RS will certianly report on them this week too.

I found out that Wal Mart also had a special book packed in with each dvd. I remember seeing on walmart.com that they were packing a graphic novel adaptation of each movie for a list price of $29.99 each and their price of $19.99.

Yeah. Just got an e-mail showing you get a reprint of the original Marvel comic for said movie.

there were a couple walmarts around here that put them out mondaynight and tuesday, I think they took them down already, but I thought that was pretty funny.

Did you get any Joe? See them yourself?

I am wondering if the "Graphic Novel" really is a gn or a comic book.

Anybody know how many pages it is?

I know WM will price match the lowest price in town, but the comics may be worth the extra (I'm sure they will be 19.96 no matter how much the actual movies are.)

Just look at the ads on Sunday to Circuit City, BB, Target ect. on this here internet thingie for prices.

My wife works at Circuit City. She just brought home one big and 2 small posters, 3 pins from each epi.! Pretty cool! I'll post a pic when I get home.

Sorry to hear that these will be direct transfers from the laserdiscs. I also feel bad for the people who bought the first wave of the DVDs, the boxed set trilogy! Anyhow, I'm looking forward to this week's release! Can't wait!!!

The posters from Circuit City have all three (EPi 4-6) covers on the one poster. There is a big and small poster. There are also three individual pins from each epi. The poster is cool, but they cramed all three Epi onto one poster (sorry no pics).

I picked up the Tin variation from Best Buy.. they were selling pretty well and fast here in ATL. The manager that was checking people out said they got a case of 30 in and when I was checking out I there were only 2 left. The single discs are selling well too according to the manager.

Buyer beware with the tins though.. I love the tin as it looks great on my shelf BUT the magnetic strip on the back of the tin is cover some of the artwork.. if removed it begins to peel the paint away. I stuck mine back down so it didn't mess up the box. The tin is very nice and I wish the SE OT that came out a while back had come in a tin and not in a carboard box!

Looks like I am eating my hat. I went out and found the best price around at my first store. Gotta luv and hate WM. I was able to get the regular non-WM DVD's for 9.87 each. The guy at the counter had priced matched the BB ad for the Phantom Menace price.

I also managed to get the dvd 3-packs and 2 of the 4 pack. Good day.

I'd buy the Wal-Mart versions with the graphic novels, but only if they're the entire movie adaptation instead of a single first issue.

I bought just Ep. IV: A New Hope, and it comes with a full sized graphic novel. I was totally surprised. I thought it would be a small single comic the same size as the DVD case. Like, the comics that came with the Ultimate Avenger's I & II animated movies. It's Dark Horses reprint of Marvel's complete adaptation of A New Hope. It's got Jabba the Hutt as some brown bi-ped alien. The price was 19.96. I don't have the receipt on me, so I might be off by a couple of cents.

I'm sorry, and not sorry, that I bought the first wave of DVD's in the boxed set trilogy. Mainly, though, because the widescreen OT has silver trim on the front, and silver colored font on the spine of each DVD case. The PT has gold trim on the front, and gold colored font on the spines. Now, the new DVD case's for the widescreen have the gold trim on the front and gold colored font on the spines. I can finally have the entire color coordinated.

The full screen first wave OT boxed set had the gold, but you don't want full screen movies mixed with your wide screens, just so the colors match. The PT's individual DVD cases had blue trim and blue colored font on the spine, as does the new individual DVD releases of the OT.

I got mine at Walmart also. 14.88 each. I passed on the bonus comics. I already have the Dark Horse reprints. Nice to know they were full sized graphic novels, though. What are the covers like? Are they the same as the picture on the front? I hope not. I was hoping for new covers. Heck, I'd like Dark Horse to just create new comic adaptions for the movies. It's about time for an update.

By the way, that "Jabba" was put in because of course they didn't know what Jabba was going to look like so they just picked one of the real aliens walking around Mos Eisley and decided to use his image as Jabba. You can see that alien a couple of times in the movie.
