best way to do different levels for my ML display?

I want to "stagger" (vertically) my MLs so they can be easier seen on my display. Maybe like a rocky type of base....anyone know where I can get stuff to do this? Thanks. Pics for reference:

I'd like to put some of the Xmen higher, and also some of the baddies so they're all easily viewable. Thanks for any suggestions!

See, THIS is where those busted up old Sentinel bases come in handy! I have all my X-Men standing on the broken Sentinel bases from Waves 3-8 and since so many of the bases have 2 or 3 foot pegs on them, you can stagger your X-Men all over the thing. Turned out really nicely in my X-Men display, and I can see all my figures from different angles like standing in front of the display and laying down on my bed.

Another help is the clear flight stands, but that's more dependent on whether your characters have holes in their backs to accommodate the stands. But in my X-Men display I think I have Storm (the white costume repaint that came with her own stand), Angel, and Rogue on stands. Rogue just has the flight stand peg stuck up her jacket and she's fine. Everyone else is either standing on my cabinet surface or a broken Sentinel base. And I have three Sentinels approaching from the back of my display.

Have Archangel hanging from the next shelf up, create something that's taller up for Magneto to be on, have Storm be attached to the side, and have it where the leaders (Prof. X and Mags) are in the middle and then have the figures who are more likely leaders closer to the front. For example, (from left to right) Magneto, Mr. Sinister, Mystique, Pyro, Omega Red, and then the Sentinel.

They have this spray stuff at most home improvement sections @ Wal-Mart, Target, whatever... It's a foam that expands when you apply it to some non porous surface. Get that stuff apply it to a piece of cardboard and then spray it with that whole "Fleck-Tone" stuff. It requires no sculpting, and it looks almost natural.

I

I'll have to look into that, thanks :)

How about using some fishing strings and hanging those who have flight?

Something else to consider. . . did you ever watch the X-Men cartoon back in the 90's? The last scene of the opening was the various characters all lined up against each other. The foremost characters further backward and the characters were closer to each other as they got further from the foreground.

I was unsuccessful at finding a picture of it for you, but if you watched the show you know what I mean. That would be a cool way to display some characters - have them facing off against their key enemy, all in a line like that. Wouldn't take up much space and it should display at least 5 or 6 characters on each side.

i know exactly what you mean, but the shelf isn't wide enough, and I don't want to see the backs of them either. But an excellent idea that I hope to one day create. That was actually my inspiration for how I have my guys set up right now.

For those who don't know...

Thank you, much, Storm. Excellent searching skills you've got there.

One question though. . . who on earth is it that Storm is running toward? I don't remember that character at all. And why is Warpath in there at all? I'd never noticed that before. . .

Yac: Haha. Good point. Although she does her Razzle Tazzle thing in his eyes a few times in the show, which seems to distract him in the typical 'blinded lumbering brute' fashion. I always thought it would have made more sense to have Beast in Jubilee's place in the opening, but hey, I guess Jubes was supposed to be one of the main characters, whereas Beast in the cartoon was more of a 'side' character, yeah? (It's been awhile since I've seen the show.)
