but at the same time i hardly think it's something to potentially get a guy fired over. as long as he's a collector himself and not just a scalper i say good for him that he got the set he wanted

 

Although I'm not saying there shouldn't be anything for the employee either because they make such a crappy salary that they deserve some perks.

 

if you take the figures and buy it right away, it is not overstocking.

I work at a toys r us, and I do pretty much the same thing...I do no scalp, but I always get first dibs in the figures I want.

 

I used to work at a TRU. It was my second job & the only reason I took it was to get first shot on the good stuff. Now, not all the good stuff mind you- The Hot Wheels & Star Wars guys loved me because I knew what to look for and would help them out.

But the stuff I personally collect I would snatch up. And I WORKED for it. I was getting paid crap for very physical work. And I never scalped, only bought it if I needed it or I knew someone on one of my boards could use it. Other wise it went to the shelf.

But… (you guessed it) somebody complained and we were told we could not open the cases coming off the truck. So I quit. And now I go up there every truck day & still get most of the stuff I need/want.

To the people that are saying that employees deserve to have first crack at these figures because of their "crappy" salary - get real. If THEY think its crappy getting paid their $8/hr, they can go get another job. Taking the majority of figures from a wave for the first few shipments is ridiculous.

why is it ridiculous because 1 collector happens to work there and he beat the rest of the collectors, it's not like he's a Doctor, people stocking the toy aiels don't have a hypocratic oath to swear too, the mans a collector, he saw that he wanted, he took it. why should he be forced to pass on the things he wants just because he has access to them before you?

I don't know if its ethical or not.. but if I worked at a toystore, I would take all the the figures I wanted too.

I agree, I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with those that work at a store getting first crack at a case of something. If they are getting paid only $8 an hour, then I doubt there buying case upon case up from the store...because they just don't have that kind of cash, and really the turn around on doing that sort of thing... isn't worth it. It's kinda silly that people on here, honestly think there's a problem with it, as if you wouldn't do the same thing. If there scaliping, it's one thing (and then we should complain about bad management at the store, with who they hire, and how much they buy internally) but if there just buying because there a collector, well I don't think anyone has any right to say that they can't do that. You want figures first? a few choices... buy a case off the net, get in good with stock people at a store...where they can hook you up, get to the store everyday bright and early... and hope that you'll have a shot... or go to the bay.

Note how I said taking the figures from the first few shipments - this doesn't just mean a set or 2, I'm talking multiple sets like the WM employees in my area. If they want a set, fine by me. But when you have them putting multiple sets on layaway whenever a case comes in, that's when I have an issue.

After seeing JJ's post, left to Wal-Mart...

 

Saw three new Marvel Legends boxes... was excited....until I saw that they were all...

 

Marvel Legends 12 (variant cases) only...no 14 and what sucks is that since ML12's are already filling the pegs, chances of them putting anything new will take some time until they sell the 12's.

i found them tonight too.. I went to 3 Walmarts that had nothing on their pallets... the 4th had nothing too. but then I looked at the pegs and saw Falcon and Luke Cage.

 

I was like "DAMMIT!!!! I missed them!" turns out, they actually hit here last night and I didn't even go to that particular store to look.

 

then I asked somebody to look in the back.. this guy comes out with a case of 14! I asked if they have more, he brought me another case. and he told me they had even more in the back.

 

but I got 4 sets, 2 for me, 2 for my pals here in town..

 

and the strange thing was, they had different case ratios.

 

1 case had 4 Ironmans, no Luke Cage.

 

the other case had 2 of each.

 

no variants.

I have been hunting everynight this week anyways.. but if you didn't call me, I might have given up after the first 3 stores @lol@

 

we were going to be looking for the NFL Legends figures anyways.. out walmarts only got full cases of Joe Montana or Ronnie Lott.. but earlier today my buddy found some of the other figures hanging on the pegs at an out of town store... so we were going to go looking for the rest of the series.

Hey To let everyone know in the Columbia MO area. I just got Wave 14. Except for Iron Man and Psylocke. Zemo, Luke Cage, Falcon, and Longshot...got em. aaaaaaand there are more on the pegs. I would suggest hurrying up though...

 

Got them at the Wal Mart Super Center off of 63 and 70.

Since you guys are all scoring ML14 like crazy, I thought I'd poke around today too just to get a look at them.

 

I went to my nearest Walmart this morning to find three fully stocked pegs, an endcap, the shelf below the pegs, and the shelf above the pegs absolutely TEEMING with MLs!

 

ML10, ML11, ML12, and ML13, and even a fresh restock of the Face Offs. No variants whatsoever either.

 

There were literally piles of figs everywhere. It was surreal. This Walmart is NEVER going to get ML14 at this rate.

 

Thank God I ordered a case because Denver sucks all the sudden. But if I get a case with a weird packing ratio, I'm going to be so pissed.
