AT-AT and New TIE Fighter at East Coast TRUs

We reset Boys/Girls Worlds over the weekend for Christmas and we put out the AT-AT, the "big-wing" TIE Fighter (the new paint app is kind of cool), and 3 more cases of the Dagobah X-Wing. Apparently the X-Wing is expected to be a huge seller.

 

We only got in one case of AT-ATs, and both were snatched up before noon, after putting them out early that morning. Since then, a score of collectors have been coming in looking for it, and opting for the X-Wing instead. So the $90 price tag on this thing isn't causing too much concern among collectors. The only two changes that have been made to the AT-AT is the "Endor Mudwash" paint app and the two small monitors inside the body now have two scenes from ROTJ on them.

The TIE Fighter is identical to last year's Target Exclusive, except for the paint job. It even comes with the same crappy TIE Pilot figure that the first one came with. The big difference is that this time around, it's cast in a light grey color (similar to Vader's TIE Advanced) and has a medium grey wash all over it to give it a "weathered" look. Same cockpit hatch as the older ones...the new hatch is only available on the upcoming white TIE Fighter with small wings. Price: $44.99

 

Keep looking for these around your areas. They are finally starting to arrive on this side of the country.

I was in TRU yesterday and they had the new set up with the gondolas

 

There was aspot on the shelf for the AT-AT but either they weren't in yet or just sold out

What are you talking about? I saw theTRU TIE's today and it included the saga 2004 TIE PILOT (aka the good one!), contrary to previously shown images of the set. I was very surprised. I was surprised to see it at all, usually takes forever for stuff to get here.

 

Could this be a running change?? Or is my mind playin' tricks on me? I swear I saw the good head sculpt, small blaster and knee joints. Hopefully someone else will confirm this.

 

Edit: Not crazy, other people have seen the Saga pilot version

Yep. It's the crappy POTF version is at my store...complete with detached life-support box hanging off of the helmet's airhoses. But I have confirmed that there were apparently two different production runs of this starfighter, and both pilots are showing up, depending on what factory was packaging them.

my toys r us had 12 ties, 6 x-wings and 8 at-ats yesterday. my friend said they had another case of each in the back room. cant wait for these to sit and collect dust!

I really want this Tie Fighter, but it requires a trip of considerable distance for me.

Went to TRU today to buy the X-Wing (which they had ), but no signs of the AT-AT. They did have a bunch of the Tie Fighter. It doesn't even look liek they had a spot for the At-At. There were only 2 X-wings and about 6 Tie's.

I picked mine up this morning at the Salinas, CA TRU. Didn't take a photo yet (the wife left the camera at work.) The all-black pilot looks pretty sleek and the ship is tall (b/c of the wings.) One thing that I don't like about it is the packaging. If not packed or placed on the store floor correctly, the wings may get scratched. For some reason the plastic is cut at the center of the wings. Mine was fine but someone may not notice this, buy it, get home, and be really dissapointed.

 

Still waiting for the restock of the AT-AT. Apparently there are over 200 at the warehouse but each store in the area is only get 2 per shipment. Whatever.

 

TRU is also restocking the repbulic gunship (clone wars), they had eight dagobah x-wings and most of the greatest battle figs (with the exception of the 501st.)

Vegas got bomed as well...I saw at all 3 of them about 5-10 AT-ATs, 4-8 Tie Fighters...and one store had about 15 X-Wings...but the other 2 had about 4-6...Oh, 4-6 Gunships...

I dont get why people always try to bring up the past with 'I picked up the AT-AT for $10', etc...Well times have change and thats not going to happen anymore, there are way too many SW collectors and scalpers...

 

The only place that people get discount deals like that is Target, when they start dumping off stuff...
