TArget ML Price Hike?!

Howdy,

So I had a bit of a rude awakening today. I went by my local TArget to check out what they had today and noticed they had a case of ML13. I started to thumb through the pegs and noticed that the figs were priced at $9.04. I didn't believe it, I thought it was a mistake, so I grabbed a ML and scanned it, but it was $9.04. Didn't they used to be $7.83? What in the heck happened? Anybody else notice this at their local Target?

I don't remember what my Targets even charge because there are always at least one series behind whatever WM & TRU are carrying. I skip Target if I am looking for anything Marvel related.

Honestly, $9 is not that bad. Oil prices have been up for sometime and it was bound to trickle down to figure prices. Besides, Mattel charges $10 for those POS DC Superheroes...that makes $9 for a ML a bargain in my book.

Well geez that sucks. I do agree those DC Super Heroes are way overpriced. I don't know man, $9 for a ML seems kind of pricey to me. I am going to have to be real choosey when it comes to picking up MLs at that TArget.

I don't doubt that some kind of "inflationary adjustment" is on the horizon (no, my name isn't Greenspan) but, with the BAFs getting smaller, the comics and the clamshell going bye-bye, even if the price stays the same, we will end up paying the same money for less merchandise - plain and simple. That bums me out a little.

Bums me out, too. I don't like it. But I also remember gas being a $1.00 a gallon when I first started driving. Now look at it...

I guess the point was price hikes suck but in all honesty, we have been getting off cheap for years. The quality for the price has always been well above average. We had plenty of waves w/ bases, all waves up until Hasblo takes over will have comics, BAF's, accessories, etc. Like I said, anybody who collects DC stuff or even worse...Star Wars, probably thinks that ML collectors have it pretty good.

We need a chart of what we want to see warming the pegs. Not counting the Onslaught series since it's technically the new wave I think it should go something like this:

Sentinel Wave > Galactus Wave > Apocalypse Wave > LR Wave

Although thats somewhat debatable. I mean we just started clearing away the horrible Monkeyface X-23, Sasquatch and Maestro figures in my area. And despite it having some near legendary pegwarmers, Galactus did have some cool chara's I liked. But the downside is Dr. Strange and Prof X warming the pegs until eternity because K-Mart is defiant in never ever ever clearancing Dr. Strange nor Prof X. I swear I will be seeing Strange and Prof X warming the pegs at K-Marts well into mid to late 2007.

I won't be surprised if we see the Hasbro Ml's price in at $10.

If we're lucky that's all they'll be. I can't see them doing BAF's at the same price the figures are going for now. They packaged a BAF for Transformers and it was a complete joke...little more than a statue and only like 6" tall. For that they charged $15 on what otherwise was a $9.99 figure. There was a DVD too, but that's nothing special they've done that before at no additional cost.

All I know is that if the price does go up to around $9.99 (hopefully not more) I sure hope that they damn well take care of some of the QC issues that have tended to pop up in the line.

suckit up you cheap sob & shell out the extra $2 you guys have it great when it comes to toy prices and sales imo you got no right to complain :P

A lil bit jealous there Synchie? #US1# #US1# #US1# @smilepunch@ @smilepunch@ @smilepunch@

Yeah don't those Canadians get free health insurance?

Free insurance > ML's being $2 more. Clearly for the wins.

Also it seems only one target has ML for 6ish. Every place else is about 7 and some change. Odd.

weird...i picked up two Ultrons last weekend at Target for $4.54 each.

could just be clearancing ML11 though (there're certainly enough on the pegs), so there might be an increase if a new wave shows up...

DAAMMM, not a bad price... I will have to hit a few tonight then ;)
