Power Team @ Big Lots in a BIG way!!

Man, now why weren't these sets around when I was little? (the Chap Mei ones) I would have LOVED to get one of those Dinosaur sets, or one of the pirate ones or one of the army ones. They have everything you need for a little adventure straight out of the box and even though the figures look a little stiff articulation wise, I wouldn't have cared. And is it just me, or are a lot of those dinosaurs straight out the Jurassic Park: Chaos Theory line, paint schemes and all?

Thats funny... I was also wondering why does the camel come with a gas can?!?!?? :)

This stuff kicks butt tho. I cant WAIT to buy more.

Phanstar

That's so funny...I was thinking the same thing!

You're right, though...this is great stuff and at an incredible price. Too bad I have to wait to buy more...stupid payday is still 4 days away! Oh well...I shall return Big Lots!

I got the camel. Neat toy, like how they include gas cans and drums with stuff.

I don't like that my camel rider broke when i twisted his waist. :( Glad I don't buy the sets for the figures, because the quality is spotty. Tend to have loose hips, too. At least they got some articulation. What turns me off chap mei is the figures are mostly useless.

I don't see any bunkers, you mean the bunk beds? Because the back of the package shows a sand bag bunker deal with the big grenade launcher, which I ain't seen.

the combat version of the small helicopter is pretty sweet. I mean for $10 you get a realistic looking copter, a barbwire fence section (why with a copter who knows?!), 2 figures and accessories.

Compare that to the Missile Storm copter from Spy Troops. @smilepunch@

Has anyone found the "Mega Hauler" vehicle? Either for the military, "Wild Park", or the dinosaur lines? That semi cab would be perfect for a custom I have planned, but I just haven't ever seen the really large Chap Mei items down in Houston.

I haven't seen it here in Denver yet either. I'm looking for the mega hauler too so hopefully it shows up soon.

lol, I was just gonna post.. I stopped by one to see what Chap Mei stuff they got in, nothing cool, a couple Soldier Force V stuff, some cool ones I'll have to pick up later that had lil mini dio out post type things in them...

I did get 2 PTE watch towers and a bunk and a parachute guy... I wanted to get more and had like $80 in my cart, lol.. but then I had to rethink it lol...there's no way I can blow $200 on toys right now like JLT.

Here's some pics I snapped:

The best thing is the price.. $8 for the watch tower and $2.50 for the horse, camel, camping, kayak and parachute sets, $5 for the bunk sets... I think the Hummers were $12, there were 3 different kinds, regular 4 Door, 2 door covered and 2-door flatbed... They also had a little bird... I'll check a couple more in the are, I wanna see some of that Chap Mei stuff!!!

Thanks Jack Left Town and JoeRhyno!

JoeRhyno, PTE/Big Lots should give you a cut of dough for advertizing because seeing that bunk bed set for 5 bucks got me hooked but the parachute guy sealed the deal!

Stopped in yesterday and got 2 or 3 bunk bed sets, a campfire (half tent) set, full tent set, and a couple parachute guys.

THE PARACHUTE DUDE ROCKS!!!

I had it at work and opened him up, took him to the main lobby and launched him. Then had to go outside, even though it was night time. Cant beleive how great quality the parachute guy is...well the parachute in particular. Now Im trying to figure out a high altitude place to throw him from :)

Guess I never had a parachute guy as a kid, at least not a quality one. I threw him up in the air for like 10 minutes....nice to actually 'play' with some of these 100's of Joes I have for a change lol.

Soon i hope to see how well they hold up when aerial fireworks are involved!!!

Anyway I spent 30 bucks. I am planning on going back and getting mroe of the parachute guys. $2.50 is a fantastic deal.

Has anyone noticed in big lots (or anywhere else) the snow figures (white), in particular a large snow mobile/hovercraft type of vehicle? Ive seen it on the backs of packages of other snow themed stuff but never have seen it in person.

I was in a hurry the other day when I went in but I saw some of the Arctic stuff briefly. Pretty sure they didnt have this particular vehicle though. Im thinking it doesnt exist.

And I am unable to find a pic of it online :(

  • 3 weeks later...

i picked up some stuff a while back, but just never got around to posting about it here. i'd already gotten most of the power team sets i wanted from kb some time ago, so i didn't really need any more from the releases at big lots. but, still cool to see them at big lots, and i did pick up a few more figures sets, some seals, marines, and british sas. also picked up some cool new vehicles from chap mei. here's some pics...

Thank God for CHAP MEI! :)

Their slogan should be...

CHAP MEI

WE'RE STILL IN THE GAME!!!

:)

or at least THEY'RE what's keeping me IN IT!

Bad thing about Chap-mei, you often wind up paying for stuff you don't want. I'd be interested in that half-track, but the oversized quad and 2 figures add probably $5 or more to the price, and have no great resale value. Likewise with the Harrier, wouldn't want the jet pack thing. Not that I've even seen the Half-track or harrier.

I'm assigning the quad to my custom Argentinian trio (Manleh, Sparta, and Hellebore .. Hellbore.. I'll have to look up how I spelled that) for use in a future dio-issue. It looks like something able to tool around rocky steppes and Amazonian jungles (if I'm remembering wrong, and the three are from Brazil, not Argentina.)
