I really like the mold, the details are quite amazing.....but I too am not crazy about the colors, going with a full G1 color scheme would have made this figure AWESOME instead of just really nice.

What is Starscreams *EDIT* Chinese *End EDIT* name? I saw, in the link, that someone really didn't like his Japanese name and laughs everytime he see/hears it.

 

I didn't have plans to get this, but now, after seeing the color scheme, I really want this bad boy. I prefer realistic looking alt modes, with realisitic paint jobs, over cartoon/comic accurate figures. This is realistic looking enough, with just a hint of the cartoon/comic colors, that I'm extremely tempted to buy it.

I think the bigger pics shows the colors better. Only the robo parts have the colours while the shell doesn't. I can live with that and iz not as bad as theprevious small pics make it out to be.

You know what, these colors are growing on me. I mean it looks way more realistic than 100% G1 colors. The features are awesome. I cant wait for a repaint that may never happen. Im going to buy him. The next repaint will most likely be thundercraker.

I'll be getting it to add to my alts, I already have Swindle, Dead End, Battle Ravage, Decepticarge, Shockwave, and Nemesis Prime, I need a seeker to add to the Decepticon forces!

 

Just one problem with that: Starscream is a Masterpiece, which likely means he's 12 (or more) inches tall. The Alts are, generally, about 8 inches tall.

Wow, you're right about the MP and Alt scale, I never would have guessed that in real life that a Jet might be bigger than a Car! And Big as a robot too!

 

Optimus is also a big MP, but since he's a big rig, I guess that means he fits too.

MP Convoy's bot mode may well be in-scale with the Alts; unfortunately, his ALT mode is too small to be in scale with them. (something like 1:25 or 1:26, as I recall)

"Mass-shifting" didn't come from the cartoon or comics. The fans came up with it to explain how the Transformers changed size when going between their modes.

 

Also, it's a cartoon. They don't HAVE to explain it.

An F-15 in 1:24 scale would be at least two feet long. There's no way in hell either Takara or Hasbro would consider that.

Don't you feel, though, if the Autobots had such menacing enemies that towered over them that beating them would be all the more rewarding and meaningful? Take, David Vs. Goliath, for example. You've got the little guy taking on the big guy. Most ppl root for the underdog, because they see themselves as the underdog.

Or, are you someone with lots of power and money, and see yourself as the good guy, while all of us middle class, or poorer, folk consider you the bad guy? @smilepunch@

 

Anyways, just because the alt mode is huge doesn't mean the robot mode will also be huge. It's all according to how he transforms and where his parts will be.

Hi. Just a reminder-- back in May the TakaraTomy ads described MP3 Starscream as only 320mm long in jet mode and 220mm tall in robot mode. That converts to about 8.66" tall. A recent photo on tformers of MP Convoy and Screamer at a toyshow show how much smaller the villain is. Really, he's probably in scale with the Classics Voyagers (like Nerf Megs and that bitchin' Jetfire) and just a hair shorter than G1 Galvatron. Basically, he's closer to Binaltech size, though a far cry from 1/24 scale, than MP Convoy and Magnus. If you get him, he'll tower over your BT's and Alts about as much as the old G1 seekers did to the mid-sized Autobot cars.

 

As for his colors, photography can be misleading. I'll wait to see him in the display case at Kicks Hobby (my local import store). It looks like in addition to minimizing his outlandish color scheme -- no wonder G1 Starscream was characterized as vain!-- Takara has also chosen more muted hues.

Oh...I love this thing and I WILL own one! I love the details, the colors, everything. It just looks like what Starscream might look like were he real. I love it. I have narrowed my collecting down to just Masterpiece Prime, Masterpiece Starscream (eventually), and some Alternators. I just felt like it was becoming overwhelming to collect Transformers in general, and if I was gonna collect any of them, it would have to be the nicest, most detailed ones (at least in my mind), and this Starscream will fit in just fine. And I'll have to admit I feel more sane at the end of the day. (lol) Anyway, I Can't wait for this thing to come out. When's it coming BTW?
