I know you can't tell from the pictures of the Con...

Hey all, for those who went to this years convention, the pictures of the crowds waiting to register, waiting for the Sarge's autograph, the Sat. night dinner etc. it looked as if the numbers of attendees were low. I would like to hear from those who went and how it compared to past conventions.

I went to Norfolk and San Fran. and both seemed to have more, especially Norfolk.

I know many will say San Fran did not have a lot but from this years pictures the numbers seemed lower than San Fran.

Thanks and Happy 4th! #US1#

I have been going since 2003 and this was a pretty cool convention. I liked that we were able to see the town in the evening and that there was nothing planned for us after 5:00pm. Further, I like the casino/dinner/awards night. They really have gotten the best formula down and several members that I spoke with agree. As for the sales floor, to me was not really that impressive. I liked Marauders Guns boother (thanks John for the weapons!) as well as the action figure archive books. Hasbro's area was "okay" but the 3/3/4 stuff was kind of shelved off to the corner, but then I noticed that they turned around the display case to show the new stuff coming out so when you walked over to it, you saw the "yet to be released" stuff first. I also liked what Kill had at his booth (nice stuff for customization) as well as the autograph signing of the Sarge. The courtesy room once again was a big hit as well as the siminars. Overall it was a good time. I still say that the best con that I went to would have to be Disney and MN. The drop was cool (even though 2 of my troopers got tangled lol) and I still think that it was unfiar for a grown up to hanve caught the Sgt. it should have been a kid IMO, ohh well though. It was nice to see everyone again and I was completly shocked about the ferets that gijcc had as well as it is nice to get the second part of the MOTH set. Last, I truely feel that the roundtable for gijcc was informative and I would have to say that (attendance wise) it was 50/50 (regarding 3/3/4 and 12" collectors).

Much props to James err Raptor and Todd for the GIJCC DTC club card and it was cool hanging out with James one night (you are one cool guy to hang out with lol). The CFB meeting was cool, the founding members were almost all there and two new people too.

I was optimistic at first about the location, but we found good food, AWESOME jazz, the cathedral, some nice shops, I got to do some stuff with my family (more stuff) and still get to hang out with my freinds too. It was another great opportunity IMO and I cannot wait until next year :)

It should also be noted is that they separate registration into groups now. I think this has happened after the Disney cluster. In your invoice, you get a colored schedule paper. Green was first this year, blue was second. In other words, half goes early, then the second half goes later. Unless you are a bastard like Card @hmmm@ who snuck into the early group and was out early. Someone else did that, but I canot recall who? @rolleye@ Also, if you are an early attendee and go on the tours, I believe you can get your stuff early as well. That is also new since Disney.

Savage did say the numbers of AIDE attendees was down. I did not run into very many who was making this their first con. Just about everyone I hung with was a repeat. 3-3/4 collectors still out numbered the 12" attendees. However, you are right, it did appear attendance was down. I have no idea how the public walk-up registration did.

Well, I spoke with Brian, and the ICYPAA thing going on was huge for walk-in people... I spoke with some twenty or so ICYPAA-ers that ended up paying to get in on Saturday.

As far as numbers compared to previous years... I've been goin' since 03, and 04 had the most, then 06, 05, and 03 in order from most to lead (in my book).

As for what the dealer's room had to offer, 05 was tops for me. :)

Give me a few hours and I'll post my con-haul.
