What if Hasbro re-released the TRU COBRA Infantry set?

Ok, obviously the "Thunder" arms and new heads have gone MIA. I think there's a way Hasbro can still make COBRA Infantry troopers without sacrificing the use of another new mold. There are plenty of other thin arms out there besides Roadblock's, Thunder's, and Torpedo's. I mean, there's Snow Job's, S.A.W. Viper's, 2001 Destro's, and others that Hasbro owns that could work. As for the head, they could just modify those same heads they used for the Skull Squad troopers in the 2006 Convention set, so that they fit the COBRA Infantry trooper body, and give them removable helmets. Simple as that, and everybody's a happy camper. What do you think?

I think that the Cobra trooper/officer has been done to death. Frankly, it's been released in the original run, as python patrol, in the infantry set, in the first set of comic packs, in the Night Watch and now in the new comic packs. At this point, the molds are overdone. If Hasbro were to do more Troopers/Officers, I want to see them totally redesigned using an amalgamation of later ARAH molds. There are many designs that are possible that would be true to the spirit of the Infantry but still totally new and interesting. If we never see the original trooper/officer mold again, it will be too soon.

I know theres been a lot made but the demand is still pretty high. How costly is it to just make a new mold. I dont understand why hasbro cant take one of the infantry sets make new molds for them and mass produce them again.

I think that another Infantry set (No matter how overdone they are) would sell like hotcakes! While many collectors got their fill, many others were left wanting more. Or any. Personally, I'd like to see a new 6-Pack called: Cobra Infantry Support Team. It would consist of:

1x Viper Pilot (Cobra Trooper mold, silver sigil)

1x Viper Pilot (African American)

1x Cobra Officer (Cobra Officer mold, silver sigil)

1x Cobra Heavy Weapons (Cobra Trooper mold, HISS Driver chest)

1x Stinger Driver (Cobra Officer mold, in grey)

1x Stinger Gunner (Cobra Trooper mold, in grey)

Besides the noted changes, these figures would be EXACTLY the same as the TRU pack. Same heads, same arms, same deco. Until I see proof or hear it from Hasbro directly, I still don't believe the Chinese governement seized ONLY the new blueshirt molds while leaving the others. It doesn't make any sense.

There was a report that they retrieved the Infantry Heads from China and that they were meant to be used for the Night Watch Packs, but the part orders got confused and so the factory workers used the comic pack/vintage head instead (more poor kids are gonna get beaten, what would Duke do).

Also, they never said it was just the Infantry figs, that was in response to a question about them and they were one of several mold types stuck in the factory including Breaker, Scarlet and Holo CC. That was why they were sooo delayed in being relesed.

On topic now, yes, I don't think you can over use the Infantry mold. There are several people who either couldn't get them cuz of us crazy army-builders, or they didn't get enough (ie they only got one pack cuz they got lucky or someone hooked em up). That said, I also think they need to go back to the Viper. We need a Vintage style Viper here.

Have to agree with you here, Dude. Something like this would be a no-brainer. Unfortunately, Hasbro and 'no-brain' are kinda synonymous nowadays...

I agree. I wouldn't mind seeing them reissue the Viper 3-pack from 1998, but with better paint and plastic

No I dont like the Skull squad heads those are really crimson guard anyways. I would love to see a six pack with Infantry variation. And new sculpts. A boozooka soldier, A Heavy artillary soldier, a sniper, a pilot, a Mortar specialist etc. Thats my dream six pack. All in the same Cobra Blue as the Infantry.

I wish these were true! That would be a great set. More troopers but with a new twist. I know we are seeing more of the troopers than ever before but the vintage ARAH style is still a fav for me.

Guest McBragg

if they do more new sculpt Cobras, they need to be NEW sculpts. injection molded joints, swivel wrists, etc.

i'd like a what-if vintage style set of Cobra Machine Gunner, Cobra Mortar man, Cobra bazooka solider, Cobra laser trooper, Cobra counterintelligence (female) and Cobra communications. Kinda like what-if there'd been counterparts to the original Joes.

robot-sonic had a good idea, too. Maybe make a ball joint head and kitbash a later style Real American Hero Cobra infantry.

I still dont see why they cant recast the TRU infantry head... good thing I got my fill from an Aussie Joefan that hooked me and my friend up with 20 sets, they were marked down in australia, lol... who'da thunk it.

I got my fill of the troopers as well and with the con skull troopers, frankly I am really eager to see some fresh new designs at the con in regards to the next waves. As far as RAH however, I would not mind a troop pack with of python patrol (televiper, trooper, coperhead etc).

I would go for more troops.

They have to have better arms than the recent releases.

The TRU Cobra Infantry was perfect for the figure (weapons suckked arse)

Jungle, Arctic, or Python themes are all welcomed.... NO DESERT CAMO...for me.

BUt hasbro probably wont do anything for a while.

We'll see at Joe Con this year, only 3 more weeks.

I hope Hasbro has good surprises for all of us 3 3/4' lovers.

I'd like to see them rereleased. Hopefully, the head is recast or found, and used again. I never saw these here, and I'd like to get at least one set.

I'm kind of surprised that the big H hasn't reissued it yet. It seemed like a great idea for the DTC line.

I hope that when the 25th anniversary comes around that they reissue it. I would like to see them make larger multipacks, maybe 8 or 10 in a set. Also I would like to see them come out with Viper sets, using the 86 torso and removable 86 style helmets. I think I would break it down as this:

2x Viper officers

2x Viper recruits air division (air viper)

2x viper recruits sea division (moray/eels)

2x viper recruits motor pool (motor viper)

2x viper recruits heavy weapons division (H.E.A.T. /flak viper)
