No its not Cassandra aka Batgirl. This Batwoman I think first showed up on a page infinite crisis and will play a part in 52 I think.

That's correct. According to Dan Didio, Batwoman's real name is Kathy Kane although she'll be called Kate for the most part. If you're a fan of Cassandra Cain, her new status quo one year later is being established in the pages of Robin.

Marvel has had gay characters for a while. I think that DC is just doing it as a novelty.

Is Batman going to come out of the closet too?

Even if that remark was serious, I don't believe it's possible to make Bruce Wayne homosexual given the amount of girlfriends he's had in the past 67 years. All they could do was make him bisexual. One of the perhaps unintentional but nevertheless funny aspects of the lead-in to Infinite Crisis is that Batman was basically cheating between Selina and Sasha. That's anything but gay behavior.

No, I'm not kidding. Of course, I'm aware of talk shows that center around those types of topics but as far as I'm concerned no man who has fathered a child is gay if intercourse was involved. That word implies someone is attracted to their own gender alone. Switching your sexual preference at a certain point makes a person bisexual not homosexual.

It doesn't matter if Oprah or some other celebrity host uses "gay" to get the point of an episode across, it's an incorrect use of the term. By the way, Oliver Queen and Arthur Curry both have offspring so they're probably the worst examples you could have chosen as candidates to be gay. In fact, the latest issue of Green Arrow I read even has Oliver adressing the question of whether he's gay. It's so absurd that no amount of evidence is enough nowadays to prove that certain heroes are straight.

That's really not a good example... Just because someone had intercourse with someone of the oppositte sex doesn't make them bi. Gay people in denial often do that to try and not be gay.

It's complicated, but if you think about it, it makes sense

Actually, it's a perfectly valid example that you just appen to disagree with. If you find the opposite sex attractive enough to have intercourse with, then you're bisexual. The basic point behind your post seems to be that being bisexual is somehow less acceptable than being gay which I find ridiculous.

Furthermore, I don't believe that denial is the proper word to describe homosexuals who attempt to find out what straight sex is like. Anyways, you're not the ultimate authority on these matters so I recommend you stand off your soap box. If the Joker who's arguably the most reprehensible villain in the DC Universe suddenly became sane and began to act like a perfect citizen, would he suddenly be a saint? Of course not. He's done way too much evil to be labelled a good guy no matter what happens in the future.

What makes sense to you doesn't automatically make sense to others and that could just as easily be because you're wrong. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing complicated about this situation. You've just been brainwashed into believing heterosexual people can suddenly become gay at a moment's notice.

I think you mis-read my post *shrugs*

And I AM bisexual, so why would I be saying that I'm less acceptable? I'm always dreaming of a world of equality and no hate for everyone...

I'm not terribly good at wording things, so I may have mis-worded my post.

I'm not saying that those people who get married and have kids were actually attracted to the person they were with. They may have been forceing themselves to be in love with that person. Not sure if you understand what I'm trying to get at, but I don't want to start a flame war or anything.

Nope. I didn't misread your post at all and I had no way of knowing that you're bisexual since your message indicated bisexual men can describe themselves as gay if they want.

I fundamentally disagree with the entire basis of your post which is that people can be in denial or confused about their sexual orientation. Those are the popular buzz words but I don't believe they're accurate. If that point of view applies to a person, then he or she is bisexual with their favoritism for a particular gender varying from day to day.

If a guy impregnates a women, he's undeniably attracted to her on some level unless we're discussing preposterous unlikely scenarios like a menage a trois where a gay man is having sex with another man and accidentally ejaculates inside a woman. You can't be forced to be in love with someone against your will. That's just crazy talk. If a gay man wants to pursue such a lifestyle, he has no one to blame for that strange decision but himself.

I absolutely understand what you're getting at but most of what your saying strikes me as silly and lacking any logic. It's not surprising that men who no longer want to be heterosexual wish to belong elsewhere but they don't get to twist definitions to their whims.

I predicted someone would reply almost word for word with your comments but let's reverse the circumstances here for a minute. If a gay man suddenly believes he was in so-called denial and finds out he prefers heterosexual intercourse, does that suddenly make him straight? Of course not. he probably thinks of himself that way but that's irrelevant. Gays are a very small minority and lumping bisexuals into the same category makes them seem more common. That doesn't make the words interchangeable.

I understand what you're getting at

There's many outcomes for those kinds of relationships, some ARE bi but leaning twords men

What would you call a gay man who married, realized he was gay and never went back to women ever again? Just curious here

I disagree. *All* of those kinds of relationships are bisexual. Whether a man leans towards men every other week or once a decade is totally beside the point. This is like debating whether a man who marries a fat woman and gets her pregnant is attracted to her if he prefers thin women. We're not talking about ideals here. As for your question, it depends in what way the man is gay. If he's had sex with men in the past and now has sex with his wife, he's bisexual. If he had gay desires that he never acted upon, I suppose he's technically straight.

Hm, I guess it's just a matter of opinion...

Wish I had someone in a case like this to ask, but I really don't -__-

Amazon has a few books, but I don't have the money to buy them and I have a million other books to read first...

It's a matter of the majority's opinion. An answer found in a book will almost certainly be written with a certain demographic in mind. Straight people are highly unlikely to buy a book dedicated to saying gay behavior is normal after all. By the way, I really should have typed "If he had gay desires that he never acted upon *in any way*" in the reply above. For instance, if he's addicted to gay porn, that qualifies as acting upon gay desires and therefore changes answer B) to "he's technically bisexual".

We have different majoritys that we socialize with I'd think

To all my friends (straight and otherwise ) being gay ect is normal. While to my parents in a different state my fiance being transgendered is not normal. And then you have majoritys like the KKK and such, but I like to think they don't exist...

I don't think those books were written with the gay husband in a good light since they caused a devorce.

There was a guy who wrote an entire expose, on how Batman and Robin are gay and it's a bad influence on children. It was in the sixties I belive. He did an insane amount of reaserach like reading every single Bat comic he could get just so he could find more examples. Times change though

I fail to see how the social circle you travel in is relevant to what's considered normal. Being gay is undeniably not normal in 95+% of the world. Likewise, it's not normal for someone older than a teenager to actively collect toys but that doesn't make it wrong in any way. If you ask people in prison whether they think of themselves as evil, I bet most would say no but society disagrees. Turning to gay people to determine what's straight behavior is just as weird as trusting straight people to label what's gay behavior.

I think you're being rather presumptuous and rude to be telling most of the world that they are bisexual. It is a medical fact that most individuals experience attraction towards both genders at some point in their life. By your definition, they're all bisexual. The fact that you even mentioned the concept of behavior defining sexuality is absurd. Sexuality describes sexual attraction, which is based on *desire* not *behavior.*

Additionally, I myself, and many of the people I know, have experienced extreme levels of denial and self-delusion in their lives in their attempts to fit in with mainstream society as heteronormative individuals. Ask any psychologist, therapist, cult leader, propagandist, advertising firm, or similar individual about the ability of a person to convince themself of anything. They'll indicate that human beings are amazingly capable of deluding themselves into believing and experiencing anything they want.

And sorry about getting debatey on this board, but you're being quite rude to my partner AkumaX, and I don't appreciate that.
