Convention Renegades Mercer figure

Looks pretty cool. I'm not a big fan of the sci-fi Mega Marines molds, but the camo pattern is kinda neat. I agree, the weapons selection is good too. I always liked the original Big Bear backpack, and the new color is cool. The use of Mercer's tatoo as his background, and the fact that Red Dog seems to have a number 1 tatooed on his arm leads me to believe even more so that Taurus will have a red tatoo of some sort on his left arm. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

i like the fact the new head mold looks different then the old mercer head, now they can be 2 different characters in my world :-)

ITS ALLRIGHT, nothing special and nothing horrible.

The head retooled looks very good.

As a stand alone figure he looks good.

I really hope the other two will NOT have the same bodyparts,

not to mention the same paintscheme and camo pattern.

That wouldn't fit in with their characters if they are all uniform.

EDIT: I was relooking at the cardbacks. AND Yeah, they are all going to have the same mold

and color scheme, just looks like Taurus will have green jeans instead of blue.

Sgt. Slaughter looks to have just the same arms.

I think that if people want them to be more like the originals then buy the originals.

I look at it as it was back when GI joe first came out. when you got a new version of the characters and sometimes looked nothing like the originals.

IMO thats cool. Its kinda Old School.

OK, I like the basic body mold. The color of the pants does appear to clash a bit with the armor camo, but it's not that big of a deal for me.

In regards to the head mold, I do like the hair. My problem is with those narrow heads. It makes him look sort of weasel-like. I guess there's always the option of taking the old mercer head and slapping it on this body if it ends up being that bad, though.

Not sure what to think of this. I like the head with the painted eyes. I can dig that. And I sorta like the look of the figure. I could see Mercer wearing this suit, but not the rest of the team. And how much of a Renegade can you be when you're conforming to uniformity? Overall, I say this guy gets a C+ grade. Now, if the others are indeed wearing the same get up, then they will be rated poorer in IMO. As Mercer, this is somewhat passable. Not beautiful, but it'll work in a pinch.

From the card art, it looks like Tarus and Red dog have the same body. The hostler and bandollar position are the same. l think the color is the only difference. I wonder if they will make a comic p ack of the three for normal release since these exclusive have a special paint op to them/

It might happen, dude. Think about it, how much better were the Comic Pack Dreadnoks, compared to the Convention set pieces? Miles ahead in everything (except for Thrasher's accessories).

Although that would be cool to have a comic pack, one of the reasons why the convention sets are limited is because it is just that limited :) , I hope that we do not get these figures re-released since we will already have them, just as the comic packs, I already had the convention figures of them, too many repaints lol.

It was cool that we got the dreaknok pack but as for the night viper, I am glad that I can get these figures again and for a reasonable price as I do not think that they will release this mold for sometime, but then again..... money is money.

Also, I cannot wait to see the other renegades as well as what else might be instore for the con.

Nah I bet Hasbro release the NV in much better color's at some point. As far as a Renegades Comic pack, do not count on it. MC will own the recasted heads just like the Dreadnok Stunn hubcaps and the IG head they recasted.

That is good to know, I would not like it anyway for us to pay for the mold and then for HASBRO to use it on their comic packs, that is fair game to me. Perhaps they will mold their own renagades. As for the NV, I have to say that to me it just does not look good to see this in a 6 pack, you would think that they would have put it out already...... ohh well here is to waiting.

yet another awsome idea which has come to a screaching halt with horrid part choices and disgustin paint schemes......

i take that back... i like the arms, legs and waist....

if your going to go desert camo then go all the way!! i mean this could double as snow camo if he didn't have bare arms.

I agree completely. Whoever has been picking the con exclusives should be fired because he's just not any good at it.

The eyes are the most messed-up part of the paint imo.

The Comic Pack Dreadnoks used new molds, not the old school ones that the con pieces had.

jb cdr: I didn't realize the Renegades were never in the comics. Might be kinda tough to do a comic pack w/o a comic ( @smilepunch@ to myself)

They could always make an appearance in the DD books  , or they could do a poster book like ML did for Blade and Ghost Rider, maybe.

Oh, well.

New HEAD molds, I meant, sorry.

Since (I believe) the comic pack came out after the convention set, I assume the molds for the rest of the parts were only loaned to MC for the convention set. That's why I think it's concievable that's we COULD get some new mold Marauders down the line (maybe with some better {read: varied} choices for body molds).
