A game thread may get too cluttered, so a daily thread would be better. :)

Cool!

For some reason I don't think too many TNI-ers pay attention to the World Cup! LOL

BTW, how do you edit the title of the thread?

NO clue thing the mods have to edit the title. Day one is done, Poland blew it, Germany killed the Costa Ricans, good day can't wait till tomorrow.

I screwed that up it should've said black players not fans. Still,it's not really a good message you're sending to others who don't follow soccer all that much. Especially here in the States.

Germany, Europe or Brazil?

By one calculation this is Germany's FIFA World Cup™ to win: 54 x 74 = 3996 – 1990 = 2006!

By another calculation, the sequence of South America-Europe-South America triumphs since 1962 suggests the trophy is headed for European hands once more.

But what about this alternative analysis: on a line drawn from 1958, reaching the peak of 1982 with Italy’s triumph, then coming back down to the present day, a remarkably similar pattern is transcribed. It leads to only one winner in 2006: Brazil.

1958 = BRA

1962 = BRA (South America)

1966 = ENG * (Europe)

1970 = BRA (South America)

1974 = GER (Europe)

1978 = ARG (South America)

1982 = ITA (Europe)

1986 = ARG (South America)

1990 = GER (Europe)

1994 = BRA (South America)

1998 = FRA (Europe)

2002 = BRA (South America)

2006 = ???????

* European team wins the FIFA World Cup for the first time on home soil
