I stopped by Wal-Mart this morning after dropping off my son at daycare. I hadn't been to this Wal-Mart in probably a month ( it's kinda run down ), and what do I find...restock. I quickly grabbed the bearded yellow Sentry, and Kitty Pryde. I stashed Capt. Britian, Havok, and both AoA Wolverines. I plan on picking these up tomorrow after work. I already had the others, and a gold clean shaven Sentry, but the bearded one is pretty cool. I can finally complete my Giant-Man. I'm excited...

Yes, but this was at 7:30am, and oddly enough nobody was in customer service. I would have done the lay-a-way, but I'm going back by tomorrow. By stashing them, did I do something unethical? Just curious...

No, but theres a good chance that unless you hid them extremely well, they wont be there when you come back.

long as you're not one of those jerks who stashing them for years untill they go on clearance then stashing is fine by me I got half my ML collection through stashing @loll@ Most of the time I Just use the layaway though at least at this one store here athat actaully has that system :S

I always, always stash. I never go there with money because I go to Target and Wal-Mart daily to check. I wouldn't have any figures if it weren't for stashing. Owe and my techniques rock, I stashed a whole set once and every single figure was in a different section of the store and no one even found one of them!

Ok I kind of noticed something. Variant Sentry looks like what Jesus is always shown to look like. Every time I look at him I feel like I should be so respectful lol. Anyone else notice this striking resemblence?

That's why they call him "Jesus" lol.

 

Besides, inhabitants of that area at that time would have had black hair and significantly darker skin most likely.

 

I like to think of him as a "Jim Caviezel figure".

Yea, like has been said, as long as you stash to come back for em immediately, then it's ok. What's not cool are those that stash to to get the items on discount!! Ruins it for those collectors that would buy em if they had the chance at full price!! Cheap SOB's!!

Well, it's time to add my story to the mix.

 

I am in Ct. Up til now it's been scalper-fest around here. 2 stores near me got the blue cube, single figures usually sold out within 10 minutes of hitting the floor (I rarely visit WM and only call them slightly more often) and the same for refresher cases. I happened to catch a stray Ant-Man and Sabertooth in the past few weeks just by luck and phone-diligence. But on my last trip to one local WM, I was talking to an employee and he agreed to call me when they came in again. He wasn't there to open the case but when he came in late last night he found a Thor for me and hid it then. It being too late to call last night he did so today but by the time I got there, someone had found it and bought it. I did score CB and WX (regular) though. 4 out of 13 down

 

I was near a TRU so I decided to stop in. Now keep in mind, my timing was thus:

 

Dad had the car from 3:30-4pm. I left my house about 4:15 and got to WM at around 4:30 or 4:40. Was there all of 20 minutes and hopped in the car to go to TRU at around 5pm let's say.

 

Get to TRU about 5:15 at the latest. I go to the action figure aisle and right to the MLs. What do I see?

 

Variant Abomination and Loki staring at me from beat up packages. Grab those bad-boys and walk around a little thinking maybe a Norman is lurking. No such luck. I happen to catch the eye of a young guy stocking the nearby aisles and he asks if he can help. So I give him the shpiel about not being able to find Norman anywhere.

 

Get ready for it: This very same kid stocked 7 cases of ML13 that day, ONE HOUR before I came in. 3 of those 7 cases were variant cases, one case had 2x Norman, 2x Loki and 2x Abom. the other 2 cases had one of each. For a total of 4x each variant.

 

He said 2 people came in minutes after he stocked them and one person took one set of all ML13 present, the other person bought 3x variant Norman, 2x each the other variants, plus multiple sets of the regular ML13s, leaving just those 2 beat-up variants that I got, behind, with a smattering of regulars.

 

So I missed 3x each variant by a matter of maybe a half hour.

 

I feel lucky that I got what I got, but missing Norman x4 by that close a margin kinda pisses me off.

I am only reporting what the kid said. Even if he was wrong and it was four cases, with one each, still...

 

I need one to keep MIP, for that is how I collect variants that I like but have the regular figure open.

 

One to use his head on a Proffesor X body to make Norman in a suit.

 

And 2 for trading to people on this board and Fwoosh, because otherwise I will NEVER get Sentry variant, Weapon X variant, Warbird, Havok, Thor or any of these:

Thanks for the thought man, don't feel too bad. I got a deal in the works for a lemon Sentry variant and a Warbird so hopefully the 2 variants I did find will work out for me.

Thanks JJ. I know you're the man for that sort of thing but I was really trying my hardest to get them around here. Scalpers just got me beat though, they are there literally the minute the stuff comes out.

there has never been a case with 2 of any variant... unless you consider Purple X-23 or Cat-face Stealth Beast variants.

C'mon, it's not like screw-ups haven't happened before. You are just WISHING there wasn't two of each in that case cause it means you won't get those three variants @loll@

 

He stocked them, he knows figures (being a Spawn collector), for all I know he's the one who bought them. I'm only going by what he said.

Went to Walmart in Fairfield, CA. on the way home and I found Havok, AoA Wolverine the regular version, Sentry, Antman, Captain Britain a couple of Sabretooths. I picked up Havok, Wolverine and Cap Britain.
