Power Rangers

That's only partly true. The original Japanese Sentai show, Magiranger (which just finished last month), revolved around magic, and the new Power Rangers Mystic Force is the U.S. domesticated (or more like filmed in New Zealand) version of Magiranger. Where as, Power Rangers Mystic Force looks like it is copying Harry Potter (more like Lord of the Rings), Magiranger has it's own unique elements that set it apart from those pop icons.

Power Rangers Mystic Force, to me, looks more like it's trying to be Lord of the Rings than Harry Potter. That just looks ridiculous. Can you imagine in LOTR, Gandalf turning into some Power Ranger super hero? LOL! That's what PR Mystic Force looks like to me. The settings in PR Mystic Foce don't match HP, just the robes, and even that doesn't stand out as much, come on.

Magiranger did a much better job with their premise, and kept their stories original with minimal (to no) references from either HP or LOTR. Magiranger is more modern with an anime style flair like the Heavanly Saints and such.

I've watched all the episodes of Magiranger from TV-nihon, except for the movie (still not sure what that's about), so I'm still biased towards Magiranger. PR Mystic Force just doesn't impress me, but I can live with what they've done. PR Mystic Foce just started last month and I've only seen the first two episodes of that show via torrents.

In the end, why not try to capitalize on recent hot properties? Though, it doesn't seem to be working too well for Power Rangers Mystic Force :P . And why no female ranger 12 inch action figure, or any figure for that matter? Would that discourage boys? It's certainly not encouraging girls. Or would that be something that's politically incorrect to some old folks?

Sorry for the long rant, heh. I was never into Sentai/Power Rangers until I saw Magiranger. Now I'm hooked on this Sentai stuff. I needs my fix!

Yeah, I'm definitly hooked on watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers right now, and on youtube.com, I've watched a couple eps of the japanese show. I can't understand a word except 'ranger' and 'bandora', haha, but other than that they're pretty fun to watch. It's a whole lot different than the American one than I ever thought it would be.

oh yeah, and what exactly does 'sentai' mean? I've heard the word used for years, and never knew what it meant.
