Flash

Recommended Posts

Started this one this morning but had it planned for about a week now. I`m not too crazy about the way the legs turned out but overall I`m happy with it. The helmet was a casting from a Star Wars Luke figure I got from MG. I was going to go with a Night Force look for him but decided to keep the original color scheme. This is also in a way a Self Custom since as a kid I used Flash as a grown up version of myself. The Slipstream head looks a little like me. What do you think?

Head: Slipstream

Torso: VVV Wave 1 Snake Eyes

Waist: Gung Ho

Upper Legs: Switch Gears I think

Lower Legs: Hi Tech

Upper Arms: Gung Ho

Lower Arms: Spirit

Great custom, deffinetly the best flash custom I've seen. I think the helemt looks like it could be used for a Grand Slam custom though.(Since Hasbro gave us a Flash colored DTC Grand Slam)

That's an awesome flash custom. It's always good to see a WIP pic along with the finished product. Thank you!

Nice work he looks great. I'm not a fan of the helmet thou. U know this would have been a prefect rep of a DTC flash.

I like everything except the helmet. too Star Warish for me and doesn't seem to fit the character or figure.

Cool custom, but I can't quite get by the helmet. The way it is set up almost reminds me of a Viper helmet, but a little shorter in the front. It's still a cool idea for a helmet, though.

That is an awesome update to the original! You captured the essence of the character perfectly! Nice sculpting. Good job.

Took my words! Excellent craftsmanship! As for a Night Force..maybe as an extra, but I'd say it's perfect. The only thing I might change would be the helmet like Guns mentioned, otherwise AA++. You did the torso extension too I see. The custom patchwork is flawless. Keep it up!

Flash was my first Joe too. He's always had a special place in my heart.

CC i love this custom excellent choices for the pieces you used and great sculpting..interesting choice on the helmet maybe if you had a spare Salvo helmet they might be cool

Yes thats one of the coolest Flash Ive seen. Those are an excellent choice of body parts. Makes me wonder how they would look for an updated Cobra de Aco Custom.

Here's a dummie question:

Even as a kid I never got the difference between Flash and Grand Slam. I always thought GS had silver trim (JUMP), while Flash was the laser trooper in red. Now we've got this DTC GS which to me would be "Flash" , even though he's too "beefy" to be the "Flash". Rewind back to the '80s there's the other version of GS in red as a "Laser Artillery Soldier".

Conclusion:

both are laser specialists

GS: Laser and artillery

Flash: Laser rifle specialist

My conclusion:

excessive ....JK

The original Grand Slam and Flash both had red pads. Grand Slam had black boots and gloves while Flash had brown boots and gloves. Grand Slam was artillery, while Flash was infantry, even though if you look at issue 1, there is the HAL file on the inside of one of the covers that has Flash talking about his "pea shooter" instead of Grand Slam. And then there is issue 10, when all the Joes going into the Cobra building are wearing the laser pad uniforms. Talk about confusing.

Anyway, awesome job on the Flash custom. It's way better then anything Hasblow will give us.
