DTC Speculation

I wanna see how much we here at TNI spent on HTS.com. I want to see what this corner of the internet spent. We will do three totals: 1. How much you spent at Hasbro, 2. how much you spent on DTC in other stores (buying from other stores) and 3. the total amount you spentin general. I want to differentiate between HTS.com and the others so we can get a very rough idea of how much HTS is making in Joe product as opposed to other stores. If anyone here posts at other forums, please put some intel here. The prices are to exclude tax and shipping. Prices after coupon codes and sales are applicable as they are sponsored by Hasbro and the stores that sell the product. I plan on updating this once I place another order

HTS.com: $209.90

DTC at other stores: $66.97

Total Spent by Me on DTC Product: $276.87

Again, if you know other people on other boards who bought DTC through HTS or the e-tailers, please post their amount. Do not put in their names, I just want numbers.

roughly around $250ish or so

I want a more specific amount. Log onto HTS.com and you can see your what you ordered. The trick will be remembering what the prices were b4 the hike.

From HTS directly I maybe purchased around $450 dollars worth of stuff with about $50 more from GIJOEHQ for some Medi-Vipers. So concerning the DTC line yes I have a right to complain that the prices have been raised, especially since I haven't yet purchased the 20 Snow Serpents and 8 HISS V tanks I still want, but some people have not yet earned that right. So people who buy one of everything and think their doing their part had better either buy MORE or shut their pie holes.

Yes we're all worried the line will go under, but the only thing that will prevent that is if we shell out the bucks, so for those people who can I encourage you to do so.

I've only bought from HTS, and I'm almost afraid to know how much I've spent. Someone add this up for me.

Wave 1 case

Wave 2 case

Crimson Guard X4

MediMedi-Viper X2

Range Viper X8

Snow Serpent X8

HISS X15

ROCC

The comic pack with Flint

The comic pack with Zartan

Most of it was on sale, but that's still quite a bit. Plan on buying a lot from wave 3 as well. The troopers and Viper Lockdown set are gonna kill me.

I've not got the amounts to hand (my records all include shipping costs to the UK) i but I've bought a full set of each single figure wave, 1 BAT attack, 2 Night watch, 3 extra CG's, an extra Medi Viper, 4 extra Range Vipers and extra Snow Serpent, 2 extra SAW vipers, 8 extra Cobra troopers, 2 Night Humvee, 2 HISS, 1 Rhino 1 ROCC and 3 comic packs. and one or two figures for customs, all from BBTS and smalljoes cause HTS is US only.

Back of an enevelope calculation works that out to be about $501 without shipping costs, with shipping costs its about £500 GBP... about $900 all told

Well, Interpol is forcing me to hunt down my scientific calculator as the one on the PC won't do with his order. Damn man, 15 HISS? How can they say they are not selling? I plan on buying 4 more making it 6 total.

I wonder what kind of numbers they are expecting. The fan base seems to average about $125 per wave. It's no onder they aren't doing any new molds. We should consider the Valor Venom period where most to all were new molds. I'm sure it did better as retail but I like the DTC arrangement and don't mind the shipping.

Still the question remains at to what will the fate of the line be over the next year.

Still the question remains at to what will the fate of the line be over the next year.

According to information given on the HTS Customer Service "Instant Answers" FAQ, Hasbro has all but answered the question as to whether or not the 3.75" Joe line will continue or not. As many can reluctantly agree (I can feel S6 haters cringing all over the place), the fate of GI Joe now rests squarely on the success or failure of Sigma 6. If Sigma 6 fails like many hope and pray it will, Hasbro is talking like it may just pull the plug on the whole franchise indefinitely. @grumpy@

Here is a Q&A about why Hasbro chose to discontinue the 3.75" Joes:

Question: Why have you discontinued the 3-3/4" and 12" G.I. Joe figures?

Answer: Every generation of kids has had their “own” G.I. Joe. In the 60s, it was real military, in the 70s, it was the Adventure team. The 80s saw the birth of Real American Hero and today’s kids will experience Sigma Six, which is simply “not your dad’s G.I. Joe”! With the launch of G.I. Joe Sigma Six this fall, Hasbro once again “reinvents” action figures with an exciting new storyline, Saturday morning television programming on Fox, and new action-packed figures that carry lots of gear for “covert operations.”

And here is a Q&A about why an 8" scale was chosen for Sigma 6:

Question: Why did you change the G.I. Joe line so drastically?

Answer: Every generation has it's own G.I. Joe and Sigma Six is geared towards a new generation. The key to keeping a brand popular is to keep it fresh with new figures and themes that appeal to kids current tastes. G.I. Joe Sigma six captures the action and adventure that made G.I. Joe a boyhood rite of passage, but in a way that is tailor made to a new generation. We have a brand new look and scale of the figures, plus an exciting new animated series that will debut on 4Kids TV this fall.

Keep in mind, this is directly from a Hasbro rep, not a 3rd-party rumormill. With all the "Wal-Joe Scandal" stuff going on and the fact that Hasbro has no immediate plans to go beyond a Wave 5 of DTC figures and no more vehicles at all (read the article over at CobraIsland.com), it looks like Hasbro is indeed putting all its eggs into the S6 basket.

If they think the demand is there, they'll make whatever they want. If they start making whatever they want FIRST and then DEMAND we want it...with this "or else" attitude, then they've royally sh@# the fricken bed, and can kiss my crusty anal cavity.

Hasbro pretty much has the lowest grade of people handling G.I.Joe right now, and it's really a damn shame. The market is there....they're just too stubborn & ignorant to know how to FULLY tap into it. <_<
