New 3 Pack Pics In Hand

Here's the pics I promised of the new three packs. They are super sharp, and I'll go into some detail about them later today. I will say that the Cover Girl figure, is the new bar as far as quality, sculpting, and finish, and that if you don't love the new vintage 3 pack, well there is just something wrong with you. Enjoy, and I'll leave my comments later.

Alrighty, my thoughts:

Cover Girl- What can I say about this figure that it not readily evident? I was suprised that she retains the traditional ball shaped bottom of the torso under those shirt-tails. The right side of the shirt-tail is molded in the softer flexible plastic, and is applied after the chest is cast to allow for the pretty full range of movement. The fit & finish on this one is fabulous, and the new sculpt style neck joint, and hair are perfect. grade- A+++

Hannibal:Reborn- I didn't really thing I was going to care for this figure due to the ugly elbow joints that were very prominently shown at YoJoe, but truthfully, they aren't really a problem (astethically) unless they are not bent fully or straightened fully. The mold uses the DTC Salvo chest, VvV Shipwreck arms, and obviously the ST Destro legs. The accs are stupendous, and I only hope they continue this trend later on in the line. The fact that the helmet does fit several different heads leads me to believe that we will prolly get a DD Serpy down the road at some point or were going to get one. grade- A

Spirit- As a lot of you may know, I am disappointed in this mold, and on reflection it is because it is a character who I like a great deal and the figure does not meet the expectation I would have in that regard. The pointy shoulders, shortened torso, stubby forearms, v chest, and extremely limited range of neck motion are all turn offs for me. The new paint scheme is great, but this is definately the weakest figure in this pack. grade- C+

Sgt. Stalker- I wonder why Hasbro does not choose to be this creative when franken-joeing other packs? This figure is just short of brilliant in it's design and simplicity. The colors are spot on with the art, and the sculpt is great and the backpack only slightly detracts from the overall look (stupid SAW Viper backpack). The only thing I would have changed other than the backpack is to have found, stolen, ripped off an M-16 from the original Frostbite that had the starlight scope. grade- A+

Tommy Arashikage- Again, excellent choice making this figure happen. A lot of people will decry the use of the Roadblock torso, but there was not a lot of other choices available (maybe Tracker, but even that has a holster on the chest) so they went with what was at hand. The head sculpt is nice with a seperate bandanna, and the weapons choices are very thoughtful. I would've given him the wave 7 SE vest instead (which would have been cool in green), but the Crosshair's vest will work. Also, the weapon choise are superb. grade- A

Classfied- A curious thing I noticed while reading Stalkre's FC is that all mentions of SE real name are marked out EXCEPT the top of a letter "M" beginning SE's real name. The figure has the same kind of "aw man, that is FREAKIN' cool!" feel to it. The Boonie hat (while Crosshairs) is not recognizable as such (unless you look at the back side and see the goggles) due to the tiger stripe style camo and the great addition of a tampo of the pic of SE's sister. The face seems to be the same mold as the comic pack hawk, with some new painted details, but I cna't 100% verify this since the hat is glued on, and my Hawk is still packed from the move. Hasbro does a very nice job on the paint here, giving it the usual eye and hair treatment, but the goes one better by adding a "forced shadow" over the eyes in the same area where the brim leaves a shadow. While you might think this obnoxious, it is carried out so well (it is a transparent grey spray op) that it only addes to the cool factor. Not to mention the weapons are perfect. grade- AA++

All in all, a very easy purchase, and one that only the harshest of critics will balk at. Get them when you can....right now, I'm off to pla..I mean pose my guys and put them away. -Aly

Nice review Al. Quick question for you. How tall is Cover Girl? She looks like she is maybe just slightly taller than Spirit. Is that right? I was hoping she would be taller. Supermodels are typically pretty tall. Close to 6 feet. I want her to be taller than Bombstrike, Scarlet, and the other women. Could you post some comparison pics of CG and the other ladies? THanks!

Carmule, while I'd like to accomodate you, I can't for two reason. The first is that Serpy is still packed from the move (and I don't think it'd fit anyway due to the wide hair sculpt), and second is the I don't want to force it over Hannibal's head, since it looks like that might damage it given the breadth of that sculpt also due to hair. It will easily fit say Scalpel, and others of that size, and as you can see fit the casting of the 21st Century WWII Airborne Trooper I am using for a Serpy custom pretty easily. I hope that this information does help out a little bit.

KD- She is indeed a little taller than the VvV ladies, probably on a par with ST Lady Jaye, but not JvC Scarlett.

CB- A few stores got them in late last week (Good Stuff to Go, Mastercollector [if you were ever inclined to buy from them, but I am not], and Big Bad Toy Store), but they have all sold out as you can imagine. I know for a fact that GSTG might not restock these, and will definately not have them until after the holiday regardless. Good luck finding them!

where are these available? i just checked HTS and didnt see them.

We are speculating that Hasbro is waiting until their current sale on Joe stuff ends (today), which means we could see them as early as tomorrow. As for other places, I can't say. I'm waiting for them to appear at HTS (and I'm in no hurry to get them).
