Sideshow 12" Jedi Luke Skywalker

I had the pleasure of having some Q's answered by Sideshow's Creative Supervisor, Heath Hammond. A power outage at SS's headquarters cut the chat short, but it's something!

Q: Would a hypothetical 1/4 Jawa be priced more accordingly to its size.. or packed in with a droid?

A: good question. we're working on the best way to make that size affordable to consumers. *hypothetically* :P

Q: Heath, do you decide if a piece will contain "electronics" (lights)?

A: that's a team of us that makes decisions such as those

Q: How long does it take from beginning design to final product?

A: for research and development, before it goes to china... it can take anywhere from 4-8 months for design

Q: Death Star Droid?

A: we'll see - but we're never doing a Gonk LOL :P

Q: Does the appearance of a non-humanoid in the 1/4 line mean a 100% chance we won't see it in 1/6 due to cost of mechanical reduction and vice versa?

A: not necessarily... but we're looking at the non-humanoids for 1/6th ... for the best way we can produce them.... hypothetically :P

Q: Bounty Hunters?

A: absolutely to the Bounty Hunters Smiley Wink like IG88

- it'll end up being a good mix of OT and PT

- and putting a lot of R&D time into the droids

- I *think* Grievous will ship in 5 or 6 pieces

- accessory packs are really difficult

- yes, interrogation droid was considered for Leia, but it's just way too big... one never knows - you may see it as something down the line :P

- I will have full involvement with the 12" line as well

- perhaps there will be another Star Wars 12" pre-order before the end of the year :P

- we want to do everything we are interested in as fans, regardless of if it's been done before

Q: Any Jedi ghosts? Silly follow-up question: Would you pack Sebastian Shaw's head with Anakin?

the price is right. Very, very few well done 12inch figures sell for $30 dollars. It is mostly $40. I am willing to pay the $50 for a human like figure and way more for a well done Grivieous. I won't even complaint if figure like Boba, Jango and Darth Vader sell for 10 or 20 dollars more. I want and expect quality. Most action figure collectors don't understand this but I do, because when you compare the SW 12inch figure with some WW2 BBI figures, you know the 12inch ones are way behind in quality.

Looking forward to this line. I almost bought the medicom's but good thing I didn't since now I can expect similar or better quality for a cheaper price.

My plan is to sell all of my older Hasbro 12" figures to support my new Sideshow habit. I just wish they had done a more exciting charachter first especially being that Medicom njust did the samne one as well.

A Maul or ROTS Anakin would have been cool.
