Do You "clip & Save" Your Filecards?

I sat down tonight and clipped a ton of them. I had been throwing the cardbacks from the comic and six packs into a drawer. It's amazing how much room all of that scrap cardback takes up!

 

What do you guys do with your filecards? How do store and organize them? Or do you throw them away?

I clip and put them in a index card box,works for me and takes up almost no space at all.

Right now, I'm using E. Omega Supreme's box to store them. It contains Joe file cards and other assorted card backs, TF instructions, TF file cards and the other inserts (comics, etc.). from the packages. Oh, and the front card art from the Joe comic packs and 2 packs.

Ihave been saving the whole card back, fc, etc but started to cut back on that recently. Will still save fc, and unique card backs but stuff like LOTR, Spiderman, Street Fighter, etc I just junk now.

I saved the file cards and some of the different backs over the years. Lately since they changed the size of the file cards I have been saving the whole card. Whill ajust that soon I guess. Who knows the whole cards do take up a lot of space.

I clip and save them... Most of them I put in Photo binders so I can browse them like a book. Extras go into an index card box.

As a kid, I mostly kept the entire cardbacks and have been clipping most of the newer Joes. Although I've just stuck them in a drawer. I guess I need to find a solution.

I save them. I have a lot of doubles though.

I keep the whole package. It's an OCD thing.

Some of the cardbacks I save as they are, while others I cut out the filecards. Sometimes if I have doubles(only in the case of filecards 2002 or newer) I would not save them.

I got to say I am a packrat of sorts lol. I keep mostly all of the card board to everything I buy even card backs to bbi figures I use for customs lol. At one time if I like the cereral box of which I eat I fold it and keep it too. I love filecards (gijoe) and I have hundreds and my main ones "mine" go wit the figures in a plastic baggy. So I guess the answer to the question is YES I keep it all! Lol

As for cereal boxes, I'm also guilty of that from time to time like when Star Wars cereal is available and I also have a box of Simpsons cereal featuring Bart. I wish I had the G.I. Joe Action Stars cereal boxes!

Up until the dtc line started, I would cut out and save all of the file cards. Storing them individually in ziploc bags with the figure.

With the dtc figures, I use a hobby knife and cut the bubble from the card.

 

Now for the cereal boxes, I only have one box saved. It is the

Wheaties, Silver and Black Raiders box.

I have a few file cards from the newer Joes, but for most of the new ones, I toss them.

 

 

I do like having as many original file cards from RAH though.

Usually I keep the whole cardback from whatever figure I buy intact without cutting anything from it, unless I need the proof of purchase. But I absolutely hated the way the venom vs. valor cardbacks looked, so everytime I bought a Comic Book 3-Pack I cut the Filecards out and threw out the rest of the package. Then I stored the cards in the file box where all my other G.I. Joe Filecards are. But with the more recent

DTC Comic Book 3-Packs, I scan the cardbacks onto my computer and print out the image and then cut out the paper Filecard. That way I still have the original cardback intact and the copies go in the file box.

Yep - clip and save. I don't need a mess of full cardbacks, but I like the filecards.

I've saved ALL that stuff, since I began collecting in the early 80's! I never actually "cut" the filecards where they were dotted in the manner of which to do so, and just kept the whole cardback solid instead.

 

Still keep everything together today, but not so organized....which will be a nice project someday!
