Hell Hath Frozen Over!

So I picked up a S6 Duke today at TRU. I had a gift card with $14 left on it so I figured it would be a good time to try these new guys out. I'm not going to go into a long review as there are already a ton of those.

I'll just sum it up by saying that I really like him! I still wish they were in the 6" scale but I can see myself picking up a figure on occasion. These guys need some sort of Jeep to ride around in.  :D I can really see these guys as being a new Adventure Team for me.

Way to go Jase!!!!!!! Yeah I won't buy them all but the ones I like will definitely find their way to my shelves.

I'm actually looking forward to being a little more thoughtful in my purchases. When you have to pick and choose you end up enjoying the figures more IMO.

I agree!  Nobody has PAID anyone to go Sigma (that I know of  ^_^) so that probably isn't the best way to describe Sigma fans.

Well Viper Hunter, Someday you might refer to me as a "Sell Out". That would be the only way sigma 6, Would make it into my collection. @loll@

A LOT more than 10 bucks (TM ;))...or brain surgery, would be what it takes to place one amongst my G.I.Joes! @haha@

Speaking of your Joes....where do you display that K9 CORPS! figure you bought? I saw them for the first time today and they are pretty cool. Kudos to Lanard for trying something different. I bet they wish they had made them in a 8"-9" scale though.

I highly recommend avoiding the K9 CORPS figures if at all possible. I bought the big wolf looking one (Graytooth or something like that?)...

He LOOKS cool...but his joints are so loose he can't even stand. :/ His knees and arms just flop around and do nothing...I've read a few other online reviews saying the same thing. They've got potential, but just not quite good enough for me yet.

Justin

Thanks for the info, Justin! Hey any chance we'll see a Sigma 6 Diostory from you?

I'm not sure...I'd love to do one, but don't have a whole lot of time these days...and the sets would be HUGE. :o

I do have the start of a story worked out in my head already, though...

Well I traded in some CD's a local store and went and bought a Spirit! He is my fav yet I think! Though I am part native american myself as my good buddies might remember, so that may have something to do with it. And Freedom is a nice plus too! :) Jase I think you should get Spirit next!

All the Targets I've visited, have all had the new Sigma Six items, but they were all in another section of the toy department, than what the Joe stuff use to be. Sorta like in an area all to theirselves on an end cap or something. One store had them in an all fancy display at the very end of the toy aisles, next to the photography section.

I say they should make 3 3/4 versions of the character liknesses from the cartoon and just make everyone happy.  Would it really be that hard to do?

Yes, it would.

By "likenesses" I would hope in appearance of uniforms and new logo only, as I wouldn't want the anime look, disgracing our Real American heros anymore than it already has. Everyone would have the same face, be it Scarlett or Duke on down the list. :(

actually they don't have the same face, spirit look to have high cheek bones, duke's face is kinda square like, and i don't think they'll make a female with a square face.....atleast i hope they won't

What, really, would be the point. Cartoon versions looked like their toy counterparts (which was the entire point). The only real exceptions were guys that removed their helmets in the cartoon (Airtight and Barbeque, for example), Lady Jaye (both hatless and with javelins) and the twins in non-Headman outfits. Even the new sculpt Wet-Suit's head was designed, intentional or not, to look like the toon version.

And, if the line continues, we might just get those versions (ie. removable helmet Airtight and hatless Lady Jaye). I think someone else mentioned that Bombstrike's backpack would work for a javelin holder. Anyone know if it fits on Lady Jaye?

I saw them and despite myself liked how they looked in the package, but one thing kept me from picking up at least Storm Shadow. The Price. I just don't feel there is 15 bucks worth of figure and accessories there. I feel I get much more bang for my bucks with a line like ML. If they where 7-9 bucks I'd proably be converted too, but I'm not paying 15 dollars for these.

I WOULD like to grab a few of those K-9 things. They're for the 12" line and a little bulky, but like you stated..pretty cool nevertheless.

You won't buy animated-style Joes, but you'll buy 12-inch Corps figures with dog heads on them? (lol) @smilepunch@ Just kiddin' man...

I bring this thread up not to stir up trouble again, but for two reasons: 1. I'm greatly interested in Sigma-6 now, and... 2. Alot of guys are making a good point here about the success/failure of Sigma-6.

If older collectors like us hesitate at the fifteen-dollar price tags on these things, then kids as a whole don't have a chance in keeping the line afloat at retail. That's what kept me from buying MORE of them last night; they're just so dang EXPENSIVE! And that's gonna hurt them in Hasbro's efforts in trying to keep the line successful at retail with the kids' market.

Yeah, doesn't add much credibilty to my views AGAINST Sigma Six toys, does it? ;)

I guess I look at it like CORPS tries to compete with Hasbro, and isn't a direct threat to what Hasbro is doing with G.I.Joe. Sigma Six is definitely a threat to the type of G.I.Joe toys I want and like to collect. I'm quite possibly buying up the last of the G.I.Joe "close-outs" thru DTC and then I'm sh@#-out-of-luck...so that's where I pull the "threat" reference from.

However, that being said...it's not the reason I wouldn't buy any Sigma Six figures, as merely a way to snub them for 3 3/4" sake or anything like that, as though I'm MAKING myself reject them, out of loyality to another toyline or style. Honestly...should the smaller scale Joes RETURN to retail alongside S6, or if the price of S6 dropped to HALF of what it is now...I can say with great conviction, I would not make that purchase even then.

@firedevil@ Even the devil couldn't make me do it! @loll@

Those K9 CORPS are cool, but I still haven't actually bought one, so I've held on to SOME of my action figure colelcting integrity! ;)

(lol) Y'know guys, that being said, I loved it when Corps figures were imitating the GvsC Wave 1 stuff, and I was disappointed when Lanard didn't expand on their "new" line. They just started pumping out poorly painted rehashes of that initial wave of cool t-crotch figures. I think with Sigma-6 hitting stores this would be the perfect opportunity for Lanard to try and capitalize on the absence of 3-3/4" Joes at retail by coming out with something new. Just a thought...

Yeah, I thought they had some potential as well, and I even took to fixing up the eyes and mouths on them, to add some detail in those unpainted areas, and somebody from Lanard must have seem my work here, and attempted to do the same on the next batch they pooped out, and MAN did they ever screw up the paint on the faces, with the dirty face look and the eyes and blackened in mouths, just looking horrible.

They haven't changed it since, and they need to...they suck now!
