Any Particular Ebay Sellers You Hate?

Recommended Posts

Now that Abraxis mentioned it, I also hate the GBP thing, not that I hate anything England related, bu the easiest currency for the most of us (collectors) to know is dollar. Well, canadian money and euro are also recognize, but at least, I'd like them o give me a quote on dollars becuase that the way I'm paying them.

I'm a seller on eBay too (albeit not of TF-related goods) and often get complaints from American sellers about the whole "not in dollars"-thing.

Thing is, if you see an item listed in GBP, Euro, CDN$ or other currencies, it means those items are *NOT* on eBay USA. Those listings are "grabbed" from one of the international versions of eBay.

As soon as the seller specifies that s/he will ship to the Americas, the item automatically appears on the American/Canadian version of eBay. Nothing the seller can do about.

The prices are listed in the local currency of the seller, but are converted once you click on the auction. Atleast, that's how eBay Netherlands works when you click on an auction from an American or other foreign seller (it converts the price to Euros).

I don't think complaining about the "GBP thingies" does any good. If you don't want to buy from foreign sellers, just go to Advanced Search and set "Preferred Locations" to "US Only" instead of "on eBay.com".

If you want to buy from foreign sellers but want to see the prices in dollars, just open the auction. Simple as that really.

French buyers/bidders are sometimes complaining that the auction isn't in French or that they didn't understand the contents of the auction. This also has to do with the above: they are under the impression the item was listed on eBay France, while it in fact wasn't but eBay France grabbed the auction from the international servers.

I don't think complaining about the "GBP thingies" does any good. If you don't want to buy from foreign sellers, just go to Advanced Search and set "Preferred Locations" to "US Only" instead of "on eBay.com".

Doing that is a real hassle though if you need to do it for every single search. Go to Advanced then search, go back to advanced to type in a new search, repeat, repeat, repeat. That's just too much of a hassle when the search box is already on every page.

I just think something simple needs to be done on eBay to keep the foreign auctions from coming up on the US eBay searches, like a permanent block or something. But then you'd also have all the "liar" sellers still showing up in searches who are in another country but have their location listed as a US city. Loads of Hong Kong sellers are listed as California sellers. That really ticks me off.

Actually Wheeljackslab is one of my favorite eBay sellers. Many of the Tf's in my G1 collection are from him. I always find him polite in his emails, his tf's almost always arrive in better condition than he described them, and more often than not his prices, for incomplete tf's, ie.missing guns, missiles, etc., are pretty reasonable.

Plus he always throws in some little extra, like one time I ordered 5 or 6 tf's at once and he threw in 3 G1 catalogs. I ended up selling them on eBay for $15.

Never had any problems with him and I'd recommend him to anyone.

Ahhh, but see, you're American.

I was totaly gona ignore this thread since I rarely use ebay, but then I saw this...

" Shipping costs: FREE - US Postal Service First Class Mail® (within United States )"

ransformers BOTCON 2005 Exclusive Set of 13 PLUS MORE

Buy It Now price: US $510.00

Starting bid: US $495.00

LOL, For those prices he can at least ship airmail & free to canada/about anyplace else too :P

Oh, one thing that annoys the crap out of me, is those who MISlable there auction/title headers just so they get more hits from people searching

Example, New store cooking pot , great for cooking! SPiderman marvel nakedchicks boobies :P

Will be the crap they throw in at the end of the item discription which really has nothing to do with the item it self...

ORRR! When it " sorta does " bug the crap out of me too... Mainly its for comics it will be , comic name, writers name, & then they list whatever "hot book" that writer is allso known for ...
